It seems that Liverpol really does not need Loris Karius, after ending his loan spell early at Besiktas he was loaned to Bundesliga club Union Berlin for one year. The news about unpaid wages made him leave from besiktas.

Man City throwing more money at defenders lol. Pep has a terrible record of signing defenders at Man City. I think teams are starting to figure Pep out. All of City’s best players were already there when he arrived, he has wasted so much money. If Man City don’t win the title or CL this season I think he will be sacked.

Good for the rest of us hoping for CL qualification. Now my question is after Man City were found guilty last season of financial fraud and they paid 10 million,,, do they also not have other restrictions put on them now? Or are they still allowed to spend and spend like they always have. 3 seasons ago Pep spent hundreds of millions and now in Covid time it looks like that figure could be over 100M just on defense alone. Poor financial strategy.

Edinson Cavani is closing in on a move to Atletico Madrid, according to TuttoMercato. Atletico is preparing an atomic attack for the new season.  Cheesy

Dude,

Suarez, Diego Costa & Cavani would be the oldest front 3 in the top European Leagues?
It would be the best front 3 if we were in 2015 Cheesy Atletico must be a retirement home, great players but definitely not at their peaks any more.

I wouldn't really agree with you.
Look at what ''old'' Ronaldo is achieving in Italy, for example and Barcelona definitely wrote off Suarez too soon.
In today's modern football, players can play at a top level for much longer, and a lot depends on the coach and tactics.
I have a feeling Atletico will surprise you soon, with their seniors  Grin

Well look who's jumping into the old player bandwagon, none other than Man United:

https://talksport.com/football/766735/man-united-barcelona-dembele-sancho-cavani-jovic/

Rumor has it that they're tying to buy out Cavani, to play as a forward, though he's a last-ditch pick in case they can't get Dembele or Sancho. And Sancho's proving to be pretty hard for them to buy out.

I think that Manchester United wants to sign on these players from big name clubs like saint-germain and barca so that they can show people they can stand up to higher standing teams like Leeds, Chelsea and Tottenham. This strategy is definitely not going to go as planned, because you can't expect the whole team to play better just by buying two more players sorry, one player, but my point still stands.

Arsenal are so hopeful that they can bring Lyon's players, Houssem Aouar. To make it come true, they are reportedly ready to release Torreira to Atletico Madrid and Kolasinac to Bayer Leverkusen. Lyon aleady get Paqueta from Milan, it looks like Auoar's transfer to Arsenal is just a waiting time before the transfer window closes.

Oh so that's why Arteta didn't rolled out Kolasinac. If that happens Arsenal will lose one of the two left backs leaving only Tierney on that position. They also seem to sell out Torreira to Leverkusen as well.

Arsenal are interested in Thomas Partey and Hassen Aouar. They are trying hard to get these two players and negotiate it with the teams. Thomas Partey is a bit hard maybe that is holding up Arsenal for some time now?

That's a great target but wonder if Fiorentina will give them easily. He is one of the top players for Fiorentina and he is so young and it's sure would be hard to make this target successful. I wonder how much of a price tag will put up on Federico Chiesa.

I hate him so much, you have no idea.
The price before COVID was 70m, now according to rumor the price should be 10+40 or 10+10+30.

Juventus and Arsenal seem to be on Aouar.

I agree that Guardiola is a coach who likes young players, so bringing Ruben
Dias is his plan to improve Manchester City's defense.

Here is a fact I had on twitter that Guardiola after taking over City has spent over 200m Euro on buying defensive players but none of them seems to have worked out properly.

So can't say for sure it's gonna work properly

I have to be honest, I’ve never seen him play or if I have I didn’t notice him stand out. Is he any good? Anybody who knows him, who would you compare him to on a similar ability level?

I haven't seen much, but from what I have seen he's more of a physical defender then a technical one. If you look at Koulibaly - it is the same so City probably decided they need a bit more muscle and at least one option in defence which prefers to play it safe. Seemed really aggresive, but also a bit clumsy - his movements are more choppy than agile.
He's right-footed but his left foot is good as well, although his long passing is all over the place even with his right.

Benfica was comfortable defensively in the games that I did see so his defensive game looked good enough. But in City's team - if you're not really good on the ball, you will constantly be put under pressure.
We'll see, but he doesn't look like a game changing addition if you ask me. At least not currently.

I do not think many of us have seen Portuguese leagues much especially since they dropped in coefficient in Europe,,, Porto and Benfica are whipping boys in Champions League even if at national level they are very good. It is always a gamble in EPL for Portuguese players I think. United seem to know how to make the best out of them,,, but not so my team Spurs I always remember Helder Postiga:P

Paquetà to Lyon!
Aouar can now leave Lyon.

Juventus and Arsenal seem to be on Aouar.
Juventus also according to media is interested in Chiesa.

Khedira should be left Today or Tomorrow.
Douglas Costa will probably leave if they can take Aouar or Chiesa.

^^ It is not about the defenders as you said.
It is just the tactics that Pep follows in the defensive part.
He like to play possessional football which defenders cannot support as they are not there for passing the ball non stop. This leads to mistakes and eventually the defenders are blamed for that. I think that Dias will be better thatn Laporte and Stones as his speed might help avoiding mistakes.

Manchester City has agreed a deal with Benfica for Ruben Dias as confirmed by the clubs for 62.5 million with Otamendi going to the Portuguese club.

Considering that Dias is not premier league proven and City losing otamendi (which was brought for close to 35m) is t a good deal?
Benfica confirmed the fees on skysport news

Details here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11679/12083134/ruben-dias-benfica-announce-manchester-city-deal-for-benfica-defender

What do you say about the deal?

Obviously as a Liverpool fan, I hope he flops Wink

Frankly, i believe there are higher chances of Dias flopping than performing in a city; there is something wrong with pep tactical approach when it comes to defending; and this is one reason why he has spent over 450m on defenders alone.

Dias is no different to Stones or Laporte, but quicker; it remains to be seen how he blends in with the City squad and the premier league. Lots of excitement and banter in this season

I haven't seen him playing as well. But either way if you look at it , they brought in a young defender and sent out old  and bit out of form defender the other way to Benfica. Guardiola is a fan of choosing young players and develop them so maybe it goes by his plan.

Maybe because Ruben Dias played for Benfica so rarely people saw his game, but in my opinion Guardiola's decision to bring Ruben Dias is
the right decision to replace Otamendi who is over 30 years old. I agree that Guardiola is a coach who likes young players, so bringing Ruben
Dias is his plan to improve Manchester City's defense.

Transfer market- The latest news and rumour

Sergino Dest's move from Ajax to Barcelona could be confirmed in the coming hours, RAC1 report. How much can an American help Barcelona?
Lyon have held talks with Barcelona over possibly signing Samuel Umtiti on a loan deal with an option to buy, say L'Equipe.
It seems to be quite crowded in Barcelona, as in the market  Grin
An agreement has been reached between Manchester City, Benfica and Ruben Dias for the Portuguese centre-back to join the Premier League club, according to Fabrizio Romano. The bid that Benfica have accepted for Dias is 55 million euros plus Nicolas Otamendi. Good job for everyone.

There are a lot of rumours that players links to Barcelona. I thought I read somewhere they Barcelona got some kind of penalty that they can't buy that much this transfer window. Or was it because they don't have that much money anymore. If that is the case, I am wondering why and how they buy so much players.

It is a public secret that Barcelona has serious financial problems and that this is why for every player purchased, a player must be sold.
Another reason why some players are leaving is their big salaries that Barcelona can no longer pay, and the best example of that is for Suarez who went almost free. Grin
