Isn't that what you want, you're probably still then making a profit from them?

That's what I was thinking when wetsuit told me they started doing it. But the thing is we make a small loss on the lottery so it is +EV to them because of buying tickets with all the free-roll winnings.

Restrictions on that are going to be really difficult to do as it'll block out a lot of regular users already.

We'll probably just have to make it -EV.

Too hard for me to work out as I only have a limited view of the stats. One way to get a guess would be to download the tickets file when it comes out and see all the accounts grouped together with almost the same number of tickets as they're likely to be botnets. My best guess is based on the fact there used to be 400 to 500 million tickets a week but now we're doing over a billion so I think 50% to 65% bots.
Maybe I'll make a graph out of that file and find out of they are all near each other or not (probably best).

... but they've switched to buying them instead. wetsuit said they're even depositing and buying tickets with the deposit to get around all the restrictions. Maybe if they have some bad luck and don't win anything that'll make think about not doing it next week.

Is the rest mostly botnets or legitimate users or is it too hard to work out.
I guess people can do the 1000 lottery tickets per roll reward and see if they get anywhere...

We restricted the RP redemption for 1000 lottery tickets per roll because that's what they were doing a while ago but they've switched to buying them instead. wetsuit said they're even depositing and buying tickets with the deposit to get around all the restrictions. This isn't 100% accurate because the stats are to the end of Saturday but 7 days wagering volume was 1,185BTC. That gives 237 million tickets and is a very small part of the 1.1 to 1.2 billion total.

I think the high number of tickets has also something to do with the wagering contest.
Because you get 1 free lottery ticket and 5 reward points for every 0.00000500 BTC you wager.

Looks like we are going to see a repeat of last weeks draw result, with the total amount of tickets for the Lottery at a mind

boggling 1,163,352,553 tickets once again and also a first prize of  BTC2.59694688. I think, I am going to stop using my

interest to buy Lottery tickets until Wetsuit figured out how to stop these bots from "cheating" in the Lottery. Well, cheating

might be a little harsh, but you get what I am saying.  Roll Eyes

I think it'll be a little lower than last weeks 1.3 Billion. One of the things we introduced stopped some of them but not enough. We've got other things we're working on but wetsuit has been away the last 2 weeks so it is difficult to implement them.

It's not that they're cheating the lottery, it is that they are cheating the faucet to buy the lottery tickets.

Right on schedule, it is BTCevo's regular weekly signature spam post saying absolutely nothing in barely legible English.

It does look like he's more supportive of it now though (in comparison to not asking people to wager).

And sure, wagering/using the lottery with free btc winings is a good way to go and also gaining enough reward points to start earning on those too. Once the friend gets into bitcoin more he can then come back and wager more or get interest on his earnings.

@BitcoinArsenal once he gets familiar with bitcoin and how it works, you could always look to sending him some of your bitcoin if you have some you can spare on him (maybe as a birthday/christmas present).

Yes, I believe everyone always start from this point when they do not know anything about crypto. This is the best way to earn some amount for free, so I can say you are already in a right path by telling him this. But of course new account will have this very little amount to claim per hour. If he can afford to losr his time just by claiming it them go for it but if not, may be you shoulf ask him to wagered some amount to increase his claim though

A friend of mine wants to start with Bitcoin, but he currently has no money to buy. I am now looking for ways to make it easy for him to start and to find opportunities to earn a few Satoshis. I came across FreeBitco.in. How much can you currently earn there? How much Satoshis do you get per request? And where is the payout limit? Is it recommended for beginners?

This is a wonderful platform to get Bitcoin, however, the chances of getting something tangible is very low. Secondly, you can spend the entire day and end up making nothing. I have tried it.
Overall, it is still a legit site that have been operating for many years and it offers everyone a chance to get some free bitcoin from the site, it is not surprising to see that you have ended up making almost nothing from the site in an entire day, as I believe there are quite a number of members who have used this site for a long time and most of them did not manage to hit the big prizes from the free roll given out per hour yet, but there is still hope in every free roll, and I really like the lottery draw on this site too as it allows members to stand a chance to win some big prizes with the free lottery tickets given out for every free roll that the users claim.

Any plans to implement Segwit?
I think segwit is already enabled, unless you're referring to native segwit bech address
you can withdraw to segwit P2SH address (3...) and in fact the site sends payment from 3... address too

Correct. We use Segwit to pay out withdrawals. Full Segwit support is on the todo list and as I've been using Bech32 wallets since last year I'll continue to nag wetsuit to do it.

Recommended for beginners I'd say yes. Don't expect to make a killing on the site though it's not that much there that you can get free (around $0.02 if you have bad luck - like me - and usually hit the low numbers). It's once every 60 minutes that you get paid. Payout limit is 30000 I think and you have to pay a fee...

Almost, the base reward is $0.002.

You're not going to get much from claiming faucets in the short term but if you keep all those Satoshis they could be worth a lot in a few years from now if history repeats itself. All those of us that have been nearly 5 years have made a good amount.

Buying lottery tickets with free-roll winning has been re-enabled.

Thanks for the answers. That sounds like a fair entry even if the earnings are low for a while. He wants to become familiar with the technology, and if he feels comfortable with it (he's not a tech-savvy person) and has a bit of money, he wants to buy Bitcoin as well. But for the beginning FreeBitco.in is okay for him to start.
