Since the lottery is now provably fair so it is a good time to deposit some mbtc to buy the lottery tickets. Although the chance to win still small but it worths to try. Probably spending 5mbtc a week to buy lottery tickets is enough, in a hope to win the main prizes (1st-3rd) with small bankroll. Good luck to all who participate on the lottery.

Good to see there is listened to the users. Will give it a shot.

This was one of my first faucets and still the one I return to every so often, if only for the chance at the ever-ballooning lottery prizes. Great job on improving the provably fair elements of one of the most nostalgic crypto sites around. I didn't doubt it before (at least no more than I doubt other places I gamble at) but this will only make the site stronger.

I stand with Ukraine.
Finally lottery will be provably fair. People will don't have to create all these accusations that lottery is rigged anymore. I hope that fair game will bring me a lottery prize finally. Offcourse, chances is low, as always.

I wholeheartedly wish you good luck, mate. But you are right, the chances are low. I lost in the last round although I bought almost 3k tickets, but that's understandable since I had only 0.01% chance to win. We don't expect to roll 99.99 on the first try in a dice game, right? )

The lottery page has now been updated with the details on how the winners will be picked from round 110 onward. Please let me know if it isn't clear or difficult to understand. I have tried to make it as easy to understand as possible so that everyone can do the verification themselves.

The system looks ok but is there any way you can assign ticket number when people purchase instead of assigning ticket number at the end of the round finish? I'm not a very technical guy, but this looks much better than the current system which no one can be verified.

It makes no difference to the provable fairness of the system because ticket numbers are assigned before we know the bitcoin block hash so we cannot predict the outcome when the numbers are assigned.

Assigning ticket numbers when people purchase tickets will have a couple of problems:

1). It would require us to store 250 million records in the database which would cause a lot of extra load
2) It will make the verification's file much larger in size (250 million records vs 500,000 now) - 500x bigger. Right now the verification file would be about 14 mb in size but having individual ticket numbers will make the file 7 gb in size so it will be much more difficult for people to download the file and verify the results.

Yes, it will not have any impact on provable fairness. But people buy lottery tickets with so many different numbers to increase their winning chance. But in this method, you're going to assign consecutive numbers to one member, and even though they buy tickets at different timings and day, still they will get consecutive numbers. If you can assign a ticket number when they buy, then they can get many different ticket numbers.

I understand that there is a psychological impact of having different numbers so that users can pick lucky numbers etc. but it is simply not possible to at a reasonable cost at our scale. Maybe someone can do a lottery with a fixed number of tickets and have users pick numbers that they like and it should be ok for lotteries with higher priced but limited tickets but we cannot price tickets higher since we give them out for free mostly and the ticket price is actually added to the lottery prize pool for tickets that are given out for free.

Understood and this is the first step you made the system much better than earlier and slowly come up with a system to assign tickets numbers instantly, and that will attract more and more people to the system. Otherwise, you're encouraging people to create more alt-accounts on your system to get different ticket numbers to avoid consecutive number.

The lottery round will be provably fair from the round starting today (round 110). The SHA256 hash for the server seed of this round will be b09379ba8c6f0e995b623d118ec1836ee3c92f3085c025a2ee100ce1e10c3806. Someone please quote this so that I cannot edit it later. The full details on how the winners will be picked will be updated in the website shortly after the new round begins.

The 1 BTC bounty for helping with ideas for developing this system will be shared equally between Zhor and edge777. If you guys see this message, please pm me your Freebitco.in user id's. If not, i'll contact you in a couple of days to ask for them.

This post describes how the winners will be picked: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.19748669

I shall try to pre-generate the seeds for the next 1,000 rounds and post their hashes in the forum after the first couple of provably fair rounds have completed successfully.

well guys, i can confirm that i just received the 0.5btc reward. Thanks, wetsuit!
Can you make screenshot?

Why do you need for everyone to download the file, if you can possibly identify 1 or 2 reputable and knowledgeable community member to audit and verify the results? You could pay this person to do this audit and verification and you can ask the community for suggestions to whom this might be. Even if you can get this person to do spot checks, then you do not have to pay them weekly. < 2 random checks per month will be acceptable >

I cannot see why this cannot be done. ^hmmmmmm^

Isn't it better if everyone can verify the results rather than having only 1 or 2 do it? Also we have many many users who do not even use this forum so a "trusted" member here means nothing to them (also means nothing to me if you see the history of trusted members scamming). After all it makes no difference to the fairness of the system so isn't it better to pick the option that is easier rather than making it more difficult with no additional benefit?

I had asked people to pick out holes in the system about couple weeks ago and still do. If the system can be cheated, please let me know how.

Also a trusted member will not solve the issue of the database size increasing by 70 GB per round (and we have to store at least 2 rounds simultaneously so 140 GB that is replicated among 4 servers). In comparison, our current database size is 4 GB total. People who have worked with large databases will tell you how computationally intensive it is to sort 250 million records. If this was the only way to make the lottery provably fair, I wouldn't have done it at all because it would cost more to do than it would bring in. Hence I offered the 1 BTC reward for a better way and it has been found so it makes no sense to implement the worse method among the two.

Tried it many times. It is not that profitable, the game is not provably fair its just another algorithm which takes my money. Haha. Anyway hourly satoshi is interesting but is almost 0.05 dollars a day which makes it worse. The internet fees and electricity cost more than that per day. (May be per hour too) Hope to see some more good feature rather than old hi lo game.

It was great to see the new updates on the lottery system, I have purchased one hundred lottery tickets for this draw since it is being updated with this provably fair system and the draw is going to happen in around 1 hours more, maybe I would get lucky and hopefully win some prizes in this draw, and big congrats to Zhor and edge777 for winning the bounty prize of 0.5 BTC each, that is very generous of wetsuit to give out a bounty with such big amount of money  Smiley
