Same situations repeat to often to be accidental.
I agree that KYC/AML are needed in some cases to stop money laundering, and some other crimes. But it can't be a purpose to block assets and then ignore customers.

This is unthinkable! I sent the company a photo of my ID and a selfie with a piece of paper with my name written on it. But even this did not help to unlock access to the wallet

Didnt they respond yet?

They are selective scammers and we have thousands of similar stories, some of which were resolved after scam topic tops lists of first Google search and some of them were unable to restore his money, all you need is to create an independent scam topic with all the details and try to make other topics in Reddit, Twitter, and you may be able to access your account, once when you get it withdrawal it and do not use them.

We need to stop freewallet scammers.

In the reviews section, you can easily see good/quality reviews as they can buy positive reviews. So, there is no chance to rely on positive reviews and also few people or websites may give negative trust to hamper their business and this happens rarely.

Yeah, you can steal $1000 from any customer, and later pay $300 to people who'll write positive reviews + $300 for a lawyer to block websites with real customers/victims reviews

Quote
"The administration of the Freewallet.org could give a public response to these accusations. If Freewallet org really was a decent service, its representatives would at least try to explain the reasons why hundreds of people lost assets by transferring them to the wallets of this “company”. Instead, Freewallet lawyers are writing complaints accusing us in “illegal use of the trademark name”, although there is no evidence that such a trademark even exists (on the official website of Freewallet it is indicated that the owner of the service is a defunct company)."

I am currently in contact with them since somehow 160 MATIC got "lost" but I need to say I have used them for 3 years without  any issues sor far. I will keep you updated.

I sincerely wish you to get your coins back. But I guess that the opportunity to use their wallet and not to lose assets is something about good luck, but not a usual thing. If they would steal all money by all users, they would quickly get imprisoned.
Instead their "partial scam" allows to act like a usual service.

It's like their customers "reviews": you see someone who says "great wallet, i reccomend it" and you see someone telling that he got scammed. And you are like "Well if they would be a scammers there would be no good reviews, so maybe it's just an occasion"

As with many scam projects they are using the attitude of: If it ain't broke don't fix it.

From the top
1) They have been scamming for years and people still use them
2) They are closed source and people still use them
3) There are 100s perhaps 1000s of big name crypto people telling people not to use them and yet, people still use them.

Why should they change?

Seriously, until they get hit with real legal repercussions nothing is going to happen.

Same with Atomic wallet, people are loosing money and yet their wallet is still getting downloaded and used.

We can report them to Google to see if they can get removed from listings.
We can report them to their web hosts to see if we can get their sites taken down.
We can report them to the various AV companies to get their sites flagged as malware.

But if they keep making money by scamming / stealing they are going to keep doing it because they can.

I think it might be more useful to act something against scammers

Several days ago, on 08/02/2023 I made an official crime report to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (UK authority which investigates online scam and fraud crimes) about freewallet scammers. My report was registrated by number NFRC230806087223.

I created online petition with an appeal to the NFIB to investigate the fraudulent activities of Freewallet owners

It is available here: https://chng.it/JVYrmzzHGK

It could be a great thing if this boars members would sign this petition and we call NFIB to investigate and bring the founders of the fraudulent Freewallet project to justice!

They’ve been successfully scamming and getting away with it for years. They actually have an account on this forum (which is littered with negative trust).

This is their forum rep (inactive for a while) - https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/freewallet-1177176

The reason why it's ranking on the first page is that the domain is an old one Google tends to respect old domains which is very bad many more will be victimized if this scam wallet remains on the top search.
It's one of the stuffs google uses but talking like it shows only because its an old domain is a wrong info, besides there are lots of old site that doesn't show in first page. It depends on different stuffs such as keywords, browser activity, recent searches, and many more. Reporting it on google won't help either coz there's no violation of their domain.
Much better is to publish articles or reviews regarding their shitty service, and let the people share those info so they will be avoided in the future.

In fact, those who are new to the crypto market, try to find the easiest way, and this move leads them to big losses. And Google's search results often lead them to the wrong direction, like if you search "Free bitcoin wallet" on Google, then the first result that comes is the website address of Freewallet. So people who use this wallet are not really that experienced about how the wallet works.
Why Google didn't give any warning signs about this wallet, even though Musk warned about it, and therefore if they wanted to protect investors, they could easily put a warning signal in front of the wallet link, just as it was happening in the fake articles about Covid-19.
Google could have taken action here to warn crypto users, but why Google is not taking this step is a matter of inquiry. To force Google to take action on this website's search results, the crypto community needs to come together and report this website. Because

Google most of the time does not take action until they are forced to, we have already witnessed how many fake/phishing/scam ads Google has approved and made Google users the target of scammers. Crypto users can't be deterred from using this wallet just by warning, as long as freewallet is the first result when searching for "free bitcoin wallet" on Google.

I don't know what is the standard for closing accounts with them but you can't trust that your money is safe because you can't extract the private key and at the same time they can steal your money and claim that your account is closed.

How will they generate profits if it is a free closed source wallet?

If you search on Google or the forum for Freewallet, you will find a long list of scammers or people who accuse Freewallet of being scammers.
Some of these scam cases have been resolved and many are still unresolved, but why do you need to use a closed-source wallet with such behavior in the first place?
There is no good feature for this wallet over other well-reviewed open source wallets that do not have any record of losing money, thus if we assume that this wallet is a wallet and not an account similar to exchanges accounts.
Despite Freewallet's long list of scams, new users continue to use this wallet and lose their funds. In recent times, victims have posted more complaints against this wallet in the scam accusations board. As a result Freewallet is still getting their customers from Google search, and they are cheating customers by blocking their funds.

This is very common to discover that newbies would have made a mistake before realizing the omission of the first and necessary steps to take before making a choice of a custodial to use, why do some of them feels relunctant in making research before they make a transaction with those they are not used to, who appears to be untrusted and unverified source, but when they get scammed, they voiced out for help from different angles and now engaged doing what they would have done right from time.

There is no good feature for this wallet over other well-reviewed open source wallets that do not have any record of losing money, thus if we assume that this wallet is a wallet and not an account similar to exchanges accounts.

If one uses a closed source wallet, then he should be ready to face any consequences preceeding their use at anytime henceforth, we also needs to be aware that some cold storages are also closed source, but we should always make use of an open source custodial wallet.
