An unfavorable situation occurred in the PSG dressing room because Messi participated in the world cup qualifying round with Argentina, on the one hand Messi's condition at PSG was injured and had to be sidelined in several matches both in the champions league and in Ligue 1. Maybe Messi lacked confidence at PSG and made it even more difficult for him to score his first goal in Ligue 1 even though it's been 6 games so far Messi has not scored a goal.
This is a pretty hot conversation right now in the PSG dressing room because it is seen from the condition that Messi has not recovered 100% but he is so forced to compete when Argentina play.
On the other hand, Argentina is a country that must be defended and will be a matter of pride for football players when competing with their beloved country.
but on the other hand, with his current condition, I think messi is pushing himself too much with the situation and it's as if he doesn't believe his colleagues in argentina if it's like this. besides this will be dangerous for himself and detrimental to the club if something unexpected happens.
The Paris Saint-Germain management was really unhappy that Messi was called up to the Argentina national team for the World Cup qualifiers. As stated by the club's sports director Leonardo, they are against calling a player who is recovering from an injury. The club appealed to FIFA about this and hoped that the player would recover from injury during the period of the national teams' games. Therefore, the situation with Messi looks quite risky, but I perfectly understand the head coach of the Argentine national team, Scaloni, because the help of a player like Messi will be absolutely not superfluous in light of the upcoming battle with the Brazilian national team.

There is a nice and competitive game ahead of us: Monaco - Lille. I wish they both were having a great season like they had in the previous season in the league. But the truth is they aren't now. And it is not good to watch the last champion like this. The team spirit seems to be far gone when we compare two seasons. In this situation, I assume that both teams will want to see this as an opportunity to start a good period for themselves. They both want to climb in the standings but they can't as long as they are like this. It is hard to predict which side can win. Even though Monaco seem a little ahead, I think it is likely to see a draw with goals.

I think Lille players and staff knows that they have reached their maximum last season by winning the title, its hard for them and try against PSG this year that has an unstoppoble team. But this will be a great match between this two teams and im expecting lots of goals in this match

Yeah, it was the top level for Lille last year for sure. Teams like this don't experience this much big successes very often. It was the case for Lille also. They were just extremely good at playing as a team and that had the biggest role in winning the Ligue 1 title also. Otherwise, they didn't have the best lineup of the league in the end. There was a big difference between them and PSG in terms of lineup quality.

on the other hand they are only 2 points adrift of Monaco who are above Lille.
but in terms of play and tactics I would like to see Lille win this match because I think they are more prepared for this match.
although indeed Monaco are above them by a difference of 2 points but in terms of individual player skills and tactical cooperation I tend to favor Lille in this regard.

Next week, the most exciting game could be Monaco vs Lille. Lille are the last champions in the Ligue 1. And Monaco finished the last season being the 3rd. But now, we have a completely different scenario. Both of them have been having a terrible season so far. Monaco are the 11th and Lille are following them right behind. And both of them have a bad run lately too. I feel closer to seeing a draw here and both teams should be able to score.
Yeah it will be an interesting game both teams are not able to win monaco lost their 2 last ones and lille without a win for four consecutive games thats why in my opinion they will go all out because monaco are only one point from the 6th position and lille 3 points so a win will improve both teams standing.

My guess is that Lille will win this match and I want to bet in favor of Lille. Although we all know Lille is not in a good position right now. They have lost form. Their performance in past matches was very poor. But Monaco's position is not strong either. They are also struggling to get back to form. However, my guess is that Lille will beat Monaco in this match and will return to form.

Monaco and Lille just finished their game with just 0:0 in their last game on 14 Mar 21. Seeing recent 3 games from Monaco, there has been Nil goals
but Lille has scored at least 1 goal in last 4 games. With these recent performance from both teams, Lille is getting better than Monaco. So Monaco has to fight really hard to beat Lille on 20th Nov.

Are this friendly matches ?
League 1 matches ?
I Know very well that, this weekend has to do with international matches, why play games today ??

And remember, before the PSG dominance it was Monaco who was the rich club, I mean Monaco isn't even in France, it's a rich small principality with casinos yachts and hotels and royal people all going to and fro, and in fact very few people are local who ever played for the club. It must have felt so surreal for people in France to watch football and see a non-French team become champions.
I have never known that Monaco used to be a big and rich club in France. Did I miss anything? I have been watching football and understood it since 2000 so far.

I know there are some seasons Monaco played very impressively in Ligue 1 and Champions League but they have never been a best or rich clubs in either France or Europe.

They had good times with Rothen, Giuly and Morientes years ago with the Champions League final against Porto with Mourinho, Deco, Carvalho. Recent years, they had good season with Mbappe and a few other players who all moved to bigger clubs.

First of all I never said "big" I said "rich". I actually even said "rich small" Wink

As I said in this thread a few weeks ago or months when Messi moved to PSG (which is when I started following), I never watched or paid much attention to the football here but for us outsiders, Monaco, as I've explained in my post you responded to, has always been seen as a rich club (not compared to PSG of course) but for sure compared to many other clubs.

I mean, Mbappe and Fabinho used to play for them, and they were their own stars there.

Monaco is part owned by a Russian billionaire so like Chelsea's Russian rich guy, which was the reason they went up from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1 and won it. They spent over 120 million euro in 2013 alone -- that was BIG money to buy some of those stars you mentioned.

So yeah, I think we all outside see Monaco as rich club, or was rich at some point. Then they stopped spending and PSG started spending more, as they realized they were not THAT rich.

Edit: I just did a quick internet lookup and see plenty of articles especially in 2011-2015 talking about AS Monaco as a rich club. See this for example: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1650430-as-monaco-fc-and-5-other-clubs-with-millions-to-spend-this-summer

They talk about the top 5 rich clubs but start off mention with As Monaco Smiley

they had several good years, but only one title in last 20 years
France did not had some dominant clubs lately, but Lyon had few good seasons since 2000s

all Lyon titles (7) were since between 2000-2010, and most titles in France has St. Etienne, that has 10 titles throughout history, PSG has nine, and they will probably overcome St. Etienne in following years, with their dominance

Newcastle would be surreal if they didn't have any other super rich clubs coming. And in French ligue with just 1 super rich club (monaco used to be but a small fish now compared to PSG), of course expectations are surreal.
Many football clubs have changed drastically after the arrival of new rich owners, just imagine how PSG was once a club that was not able to compete but now they have been very dominant in the French ligue, I agree with what you said, now the achievement of a club is very dependent on the financial strength of the club, although there are small clubs that can champions but it is very rare happen so far, in my opinion now newcastle which was acquired by the prince of saudi arabia would certainly have the potential to turn into a very rich club and maybe even surpass the wealth owned by PSG right now.

I don't need to imagine, that's exactly what happened. And remember, before the PSG dominance it was Monaco who was the rich club, I mean Monaco isn't even in France, it's a rich small principality with casinos yachts and hotels and royal people all going to and fro, and in fact very few people are local who ever played for the club. PSG are maintaining their lead by 10 points in the league now. Their nearest follower is Lens by 24 points and they are also having a great season. But one thing is certain that PSG are going to have one of their easiest seasons. I expect them to become the champions very easily as they are this much ahead even though we are not even halfway through the season. Because of this situation, their main focus would be definitely the Champions League. Because this is one of their biggest chances for the title. Seemingly, they won't have the Neymar - Messi - Mbappe trio next season. Therefore, they should take advantage of this chance and fight with all they have to win the CL title.

Monaco and Lille lose their strength as I remember seasons when they are top competitors with PSG for the title. They sold their star players, many of them left Monaco and Lille and now they are in worse positions.

Hope that their scouts can find other talented youth players and grow them up. If their scouts succeed with their tasks, Monaco and Lille will return to top of Ligue 1.

This match, it seems Monaco have more chance to win it because they probably are stronger and have better form lately.
Monaco philosophy is built on nurturing young talents like Mbappe. And the club has no goal to keep them at team, they willingly sell them for a lot of money to top European clubs. And therefore it is very difficult to count on the fact that the club will be able to constantly be at the top of the standings, this becomes possible in certain seasons, when the team reaches the peak of its form. And then, as you rightly said, after the players are sold, the club plays mediocre again until it fosters new talents.
I agree with what you said, because in my opinion also clubs like Monaco which have weak finances of course only make talented players as a way for them to be able to make money and make the team's finances stable, Kylian Mbappe, James Rodriguez and Thomas Lemar is an example of Monaco's best players being released to other clubs, Monaco can even get a lot of funds from their sales so far, I think if Monaco can maintain the great talent they have so far, of course we will see a terrible squad from them.

Wow, so what Monaco lacks is only about investors or club owners. If Monaco is owned by the richest people, then surely Monaco will easily become the strongest in Ligue 1 or even in Europe. Just imagine, when the team can print many talented young players into big players, then obviously it will be easy to maintain if Monaco is owned by the richest people, right. I hope in the future someone will make Monaco a team with rich ownership, because then Monaco will easily become a strong competitor for PSG at the top of the table.

This situation can be viewed from a different point of view - not having competitors and knowing for sure that in the end they will get the championship PSG can play relaxed and "for their own pleasure." This is very different from the situation in other championships where teams are always under psychological pressure and fear of losing points in some match. PSG may lose a lot of points but still remain in first place - after a third of the championship, their advantage over their closest pursuer is as much as 10 points.
They can't really play "on their own pleasure" because they are still seen as the dominant league winners who will win by a large margin every single game. The moment they have a tie or lose to a team, ANY team they will be seen as playing horribly for that game and there will be complaints from fans, bad things said about managers, talks about players not caring and all that until they win again.

I would rather play in Lille right now then play for PSG. They are doing badly this season but at least they got a win last year and that's all it takes to make the fans happy. They could suck as much as they want this year and fans will be just as happy because they already got their win and that's enough. PSG on the other hand was humiliated because they lost one, I mean imagine winning the league 153423 times in a row and just because one season someone else won, suddenly everyone attacks you.

But if we take it even more globally, for each individual player the situation does not differ at all in whatever club he plays - he must always play well because failures will bring him under fire. The pressure here is strong both on Ronaldo, who must live up to his star status, and on average players who must try to do their job. Therefore, in this sense, the pressure is the same and this factor can be discarded.
Now, comparing the situation of PSG and any English team that is fighting for the championship, we can hardly say that PSG has the same difficult situation, right? They can lose 3, 5 or even 7 points and still be the leaders. Yes, they will be criticized but they will have the title. But the conditional Liverpool, having lost 7 points, will not just fly out of the championship contenders, but possibly lose their place in the Champions League. I think the pressure on Liverpool and the criticism will be much tougher in this case.
