Trying to understand the clubs in Ligue 1 is difficult for me, I mean why do they falter so easily or in other words their consistency is so quickly lost when entering a new season. I think it's normal for players to come and go, but in reality it's not normal for that to happen at a Ligue 1 club. It's different when looking at La Liga and the Premier League for example, their consistency can still be said to be balanced when the season changes, yes although there are some clubs that also experience a significant decline.
What do you think caused that to happen in Ligue 1?
I don't know for sure what caused that, but maybe the readiness to welcome the new season for teams in Ligue 1 is very different from other top European leagues and I think that's something they haven't addressed for years. We can see that PSG this season lost their performance before finally returning, elsewhere there was Lens who also experienced a decline in performance but slowly they started to do their main job like last season. What makes us surprised is definitely about Marseille and Lyon because these two teams are big teams in Ligue 1 but they have fallen very far in the standings since the start of the season and are having difficulty competing with other teams.
there are several reasons why the popular teams this season are not in the same position as the previous season and the most important reason is that if we discuss Lens and Marseille, these two popular teams, there is a possibility that both teams are not prepared well enough, while on the other hand, these two teams need to focus in prestigious competition matches such as Lens focusing on the UCL and Marseille in the european league.
Its only natural that both teams experience a decline in performance because in terms of player performance there may be an impact after selling their players so they have to set a strategy not to focus too much on the domestic league and choose to maintain their qualification from next round in the UCL and european leagues.
If they can not qualify, maybe both teams will go back to focusing on domestic league like last season to get best position, I hope my guess is right.
For Lens, I still understand it, but if we talk about Marseille, which has a lot of experience in European competitions, it shouldn't have such bad luck like now and a busy schedule cannot be used as an excuse for a decline in performance. Moreover, all teams also experience the same thing when facing two different competitions, but there are also those who can still be consistent.
If we look at the potential opportunities for Lens and Marseille in European competitions, it is possible that both of them will still be able to qualify but don't let this be used as an excuse for the poor results in local competitions. They have to do this job well wherever they are, especially since they don't want to be in mid-table until the end of the season.
