lost 20k in 2 days , used up all my profits from my portfolio , and i just wanted to keep on going . how you guys stop yourself from betting/gambling on casino ?

For me that $20k is a lot of money if you convert it here into our local currency but we all have different perspectives on the value of money I just thought that you made a lot of profit from trading in your portfolio for you not to get depressed from that $20k, I think you will be ok because you are thinking of stopping and finding ways how to stop, that's the first step.
Compulsive gamblers usually don't want to stop and will ignore all advice on how to stop, just practice meditation and you can stop when you want to stop and play within your means.

The slot is addicting on physical casinos but I find it difficult to actually play on online casinos so quite find it hard to see OP playing the game and then losing a lot of money thru it. But yep addiction is real, you don't even realize it until you already lost a substantial amount of money. $20k is big seeing that everyone today needs savings to survive the crisis we experience.

I have the feeling of addiction years ago but I fight the urge and just gamble through sports. So when there is no sports event, nothing there is to bet on.

I believe that a good part of the fault isn't exclusively yours, but also the houses.
See with me... how does a website allow you to bet lose 20k in just two days?
If you were to earn 20k in two days would you be able to withdraw this amount so quickly without going through any "additional checks"? Most likely doesn't, but to spend that money they don't create any hindrance.

Most houses only think about winning money, and aren't concerned with the financial health of their players, they are very much to blame for that.

I suggest that you take a break not just from casino but from gambling in general. Forget about both casino and sportsbook for now. I am doubting you can easily resist the urge to visit the casino if you are still exposed to online gambling. Exclusion from the casino feature on stake is not a strong way to stop your gambling urge. It is just a few clicks away and you already find yourself playing in some other casino or dice sites. If you are really serious in controlling your gambling loss, you should take a full gambling rest.

Totally . Decided to quit gambling for now ( after this weekend UFC ) as already placed my bet and once i started exclusion my money is stucked on stake. Will start my 1month/3month gambling exclusion once i withdraw my money from Stake.com.

Yes ,it was dumb to go that much in gambling and 'chasing' my lost and snowballing to huge amount. Learnt from my mistake and hope no one do the same mistake like I did.

That's really nice to hear. Your life as a gambler is already spiraling down toward addiction. That seems obvious. A $20,000-loss in just a couple of days is one serious symptom or indication that you are already half buried in your desire to recover what you have lost. That should be the final straw.

It is just fortunate that you are still sane enough to realize this and certainly strong enough to say, no more. Your next challenge is keeping yourself busy and distracted all these times so that gambling will be completely taken away from your mind. I suggest you spend quality time with your family or focus more on sports or other fun activities. Gambling is not the only fun thing to do.

Total shock to the money that the OP lost in just 2 days.

But I understand where he is coming from because I was once a addicted gambler and lost all my money too. So it's going to be hard for him, hopefully you need to take control of yourself. You need to seek help and recognized that you have an addiction and maybe it will help you out. It's going to be difficult, but take it day by day. Try to make your everyday busy, get some hobby, involved yourself, like doing some exercise and yoga too, it might help you alleviate that cravings of your gambling.

3. For Sportsbetting / Slots , i will take 1 month back and rethink on what happen in the last 2-3 days before back to gambling . From what thought and watching the post that you guys gave me , i mostly will stop on gambling for awhile especially slots. Side note : as I am a huge fighting fans (MMA) but usually just bet 100-500$ bets . The way i lost 20k is that i just tried to earn some huge wins by buying 'bonus' and not by rolling spins. Maybe this is way i lost so much in short amount of time .
Good that you have learned something from this big loss and will stay away from gambling for a while. You are totally right by doing so. Take your time and have no hurry to start betting again, because a loss of 20,000$ must not be neglected. Don't try to beat the house at all costs. Set your own limits and if even by doing this you aren't able to win, just give up. There is no reason to be ashamed in giving up when the chances are against you. That is actually the smartest thing to do. And always keep in mind although you can get rich by gambling, it's not necessarily (and probably) going to to happen. So take it only as a hobby activity.

It's a lot, especially if you have something like that and decide to use it in gambling, which is not ideal. Unless you have a lot of space to lose that kind of money, and from the looks of it, it seems you can handle something like that, and you are even aiming to get it back in the following days.

I am looking forward to more updates on your situation. I do hope you get to control and recover your losses.

Gambling addiction is one of the major problem many gamblers face. They don't know how to control themselves, and always end up losing huge amount of money. Losing 20k in 2 days is really serious, and I think you have to control yourself when it comes to gambling. Playing it for fun and not a way of doubling your money, or you will definitely continue losing more money which might lead to depression. However, stoping gambling entirely is basically the best option.

looking for ways to bet on sportsbook but not on casino , but stake does not provide the option for that .  Undecided

Since you already ask about ways to bet on sportsbooks, does the question of how people stop gambling still matters to you? You are already decided to keep going and all I can say is good luck. I will never suggest stopping gambling because that's your own will and you are the only one who should decide for that. Aside from that, I think you are still not in the status of being a crazy one although it's crazy to lose that 20k in 2 days. I hope that's not USD lol.

There's a sportsbook option on Stake. You can check it at the upper left of the main page. Or just pick those famous sportsbooks on the Gambling section.

I know how its hard to have an addiction it's just a cringe feelings that has a strong urge for you to left what could be the way to become preoccupied or what you are doing and I can say it's just a matter of self control. It may be hard but if you just try harder it is worth it you just really need to divert your mind away from gambling and never ever visit a site or a places that reminds you to gamble because trust me, the urge is still there. You need to stay away from those places for a couple of months or more in order for you to stop your addiction.
He doesn't have to try harder, he has already said what he's planning to do and that's a good decision for him to make. He's already moved on and op did the right thing after losing this much.
It may not be as much as the others have lost but to many of us it's already big, well, he seems well and good with it and can recover this through trading so good luck to you op.

The fact that after losing a total of 20,000 (on what figures?) you were still able to ask the community a question like that, then you are still on your right mind to know what's the best thing to do. If you want to keep going, that's your choice. For someone who affords to gamble an amount like that, I'm expecting they know what they are doing.

And what do you mean by "Stake"? The Stake.com gambling platform? Aside from casinos, they are also a sportsbook. It's weird and impossible for me that you didn't see that on the site as a person that owns a decent amount of money.

Man, take it easy.

Understand that you'll get the $20k back as a matter of time. If you had that much money in the first place I'm 99% certain that you have the ability to generate that sort of income in a decent amount of time.

However, it is time to wake up to the reality.

Gambling is simply entertainment and will not give you long term gains. This applies to sportsbetting as well, unless you are doing arbitrage betting or actually have some basis in tipstering (unlikely from your behaviour).

Treat it that way. Expect losses. If you expect anything more, you have the wrong mindset and you're bound to lose lots.

Here is the finalize thoughts and last post that i will be made regarding on my betting addictions and about this post .

1.  Lost 20k just in 2 days after 'touching' on slots . Before that i mostly just play on Sportsbet ( mainly UFC ) and do tradings most of the time . never really a heavy betters . Most of the time i just watch some streamers bet in twitch.com

2. 20k is alot not gonna lie . Although did not affect my life as i just used up my 'profits' in trading for the past few month, learnt from this mistake. And i was going to 'double-up' on trying to get back the money i lost in slots but stopped it . ( glad i did not redeposit again , if not 20k is might not the final amount here )

3. For Sportsbetting / Slots , i will take 1 month back and rethink on what happen in the last 2-3 days before back to gambling . From what thought and watching the post that you guys gave me , i mostly will stop on gambling for awhile especially slots. Maybe this is way i lost so much in short amount of time .

Just chat with the support , Will start my exclusion after UFC 267. ( as I already placed my bets on it , and after the event will just withdraw from Stake and start my 1 month exclusion ) and back to my trading .

Thanks for the support and reply . Appreciate it and wanted to say , stay off from gambling or bet on what you are willing to lose. Will continue to update my post .  Sorry for the bad english , as it was not my main language.
That's still quite good I guess that you've lost that amount as your profits. I don't know how much effort you've made that amount and how long exactly you've taken from doing it.
And telling us that it's not going to ruin your life, that's a good thing to hear about because when there are gamblers that lost a huge amount, they're completely out of their minds and don't know what to do afterwards.

Don't forget to contact those casinos where you play and let them know that you are addicted to gambling. They will help you block your account and restrict access to their website.
^ Is there really a casino like this? They will block a user's account just to recover their addiction?
Addicted gamblers should seek a professional psychiatrist that usually cures mental illness but first, I don't think you will be addicted if you know how to manage yourself. If OP can afford what he had lost now, probably financial status could not problem with him. Sorry to hear the OP lose but I think, there is nothing wrong if the amount that he used is the amount that he can afford.

You just lost $20k gambling, and you still want to look for ways to be on sportsbook? You are addicted! The good thing is at least you realize that your addiction is real and it is might cause you harm. The first thing you should do is let your close ones know about your problem. They will be able to help you stop your addiction. Next you probably should contact one of those problem gambling helpline and get their help as soon as you can before you cause further damage to yourself. Don't forget to contact those casinos where you play and let them know that you are addicted to gambling. They will help you block your account and restrict access to their website.

Not that you're going to listen to anyone at this point, but you really need to cut your losses and run. That money is gone now, you have to accept you made a mistake and do not chase your losses even further. With the destructive cycle that you're in all reason and rational thinking has gone. You need to stop gambling completely because it is clear you are fully tilted right now and are just leaking money all over the place. Avoid the internet entirely if that is where you're betting and find a new hobby that can take your mind off it. Go find some books to read, or visit some new places to clear your mind. Only you will be able to beat this addiction but forget about all the losses that lead up to this point - those memories will only hurt you if you keep repeating them, accept it and let your bad mistakes go.
Most of people do suggest the same thing but this is actually a problem that can only be resolved out by himself which means that neither he do listen

out or would most likely ignore and go ahead on what hes been currently doing.Gambling addiction is something that hard to resist once you had
been shackled with it.

Leave when you do see that you are spending too much because if you dont able to stop then for sure you would suffer
big problems that lies ahead.
