I used to gamble everyday ,morning until dawn with my friends or neighbors, at first all I want was to enjoy myself but later on even how many times I loss still I keep on coming back hoping that I can win. I've been a iresponsible mother with my son and depend my responsibilities to my parents. I onced pawned my jewelries or valuable things just because of gambling that's how addicted I am in gambling now I am thankful that I can control my addiction. Yes, I still play but it is not like before I know my priorities and I do not want to risk my family just because of gambling.

Sad to hear your stories but I know that is the norm for most addictive gambling because I know a lot of people with similar stories. Families are shattered, life are broken because that one gambling bet that we did in the past will haunt us for the rest of our lives.

I'm glad that I didn't go that far though, was able to control before its too late, although the damage has been done on my end, I was able to repair it and just gamble when I have the time and just having fun and not totally wanted to look at it as a 'daily job".

When I was starting in crypto life I able to earn good in my basic trading life. My friends taught me some of the things we must know in trading. I able to earn a quite good in it yet I knew about gambling. I tried it once and then I'm glad because I won high amounts. I become greedy in earnings so that I continued to play everyday and then one day ending up losing all of my money.

I know some addicted gamblers and most of them got hooked by the things that look the safest and most neutral: the machines. Some of my childhood friends were playing coin pushers and other arcade machines all day. Some got hooked by slots and ended up sitting all day in front of a machine pressing buttons and drinking beer. Those machines won't get you drained fast. It takes months, even years. Looking at them slowly going down to the bottom is very depressing.

It is sad for all those people who just cannot understand or do not want to understand for what gambling is made up for or people should be enjoying the fun rather than just to make the more and more money from playing those games or slot machines where chances to win is less.

Just curious to read some addict or former addict stories and probably some of us like me will be glad to see how things actually did roll in for them during this period and I believe some other persons tending towards that path can also learn from it. Also, if you have a friend or relative you can speak for, it would be appreciated.

Personally, this is what I would like to know though.

1. How did you find yourself ending up to become an addict? What instigated it to the point that you just found yourself not being able to control the impulse any longer? What was the feeling like and during those period of being an addict, did you know and were you willing to pop out of it?

2. What were the steps you took or the steps you are taking to get out from it, and on the scale of 1 to 10, how can you rate how you are doing now?

3. For those who are out of it, do you still gamble or still wish you could? In the case where you are still gambling, how do you want to make sure what happened initially does not end up repeating itself.

4. Any other thing you feel you can add is welcome.

One of the gambling addiction I experienced is that when I play for the first time. It is the first time I able to earn using gambling. I felt happy that time because I believe that I will become rich in that kind of earnings. I able to earn good. But false. I end up losing all of my profits and capital. And them I stopped playing gambling because ai don't have amy money.

I quit gambling long time ago when I was on the verge of becoming an addictive gambler. I used to gamble regularly with my friends and I found it entertaining until it started to affect my studies and social life. Then, I tried to reduced my gambling activities.

Then, I got rid of it completely as I got used to the new routine. It was hard from the beginning, but then you will get used to it because your time is filled up with other various activities

Same. I quit gambling a long time ago but ofcourse I experience to become addict in there. There was a time that I used to earn only by gambling. All of my funds are in a dice game. I don't know but I enjoy playing dice game because eventhough you lose a high amount of money you earn sometimes a lot too. It likes it doubles the profit there. So I end up loosing all of my funds there. Not a good idea.
Addiction is not good at all. It will destroy your life. You will not only lose your money but much more. Finally you will become mentally disturb. It is nice to hear that you quit gambling long time ago. Now you will fell normal. For me gambling addiction is just like drug addiction and is not easy to quit. You will have to struggle for it. Gambler has no respect in community.
It is good that with the passage of time you quit gambling forever. Now you will feel happy and relax, while a gambler is always in depression and thinks only of gambling. I gambled just once in my whole life and I lost nothing because I played just for a while and then quit. I am a sensible person and in know that regular gambling will destroy not only me but my family as well.

Mine started out while I was bored at worked during 2013 rush times. Mtgox was getting killed by complaints and it wasn't fully closed yet and people were having hard time cashing out their money so it was starting out. I got into bitcoin, made about 2 bitcoins or so and cashed some of it out, I sold some of my game characters for money and honestly just decided to gamble that money away at work because I was super bored in front of a PC all day everyday constantly.

Thankfully, I had a great boss who let me gamble, play games and watch shows at work because he knew I was doing a good job but one day I lost all of it on a martingale loss streak and just did not return to gambling for years.
You didn't know actually that you had bet all your money? If you are bored and wants to gamble to kill boredom, just gamble little amount just for entertainment, that is a lesson learned for you.

Now the time has changed and today most of the gamblers gamble online. No tension of machines, slots, hooking or anything else. Now gambling sites provided lots of facilities for their gamblers. Now a day people lose more than they would lose in the past, because the games were slow in that time and now the games are very speedy and you will see the result in few minutes.
Yes, in this day and age almost everything has turned to the online world and of course gambling or anything in the online world will be easier and look relaxed. It is easy for us to access anything on the internet, so it will make you enter much deeper and continue playing until you will not realize how many hours and how much money has been spent gambling, until in the end you will become a gambling addict because of greed and cannot accept the loss that you have experienced in gambling.

Stop. Stereotyping. Gamblers. I know that there's a general stigma about people hating gamblers but on the other hand, there are communities that actually look up to gamblers. To them, gamblers who make a living from gambling are cool people. Even those who are just able to afford to gamble regularly are being looked up to. They think that the person must have a lot of person and the gambler is possibly gambling constantly because he already established that name and is respected for that. In other words, gamblers are respecting other gamblers.

Quitting an addiction can be hard to some people while it can be easy to others. Those who are only gambling because they feel like they have to do it in order to survive life or cope with their problems will easily stop being addicted to it once they found a way to cope with their problems in a different way. Those who are only gambling because of peer pressure can stop gambling easily when they stop interacting with his gambler friends. It's pretty much a lot about looking for the cause of your addiction instead of just thinking that you're an addict and you have to struggle in order to stop gambling. It's not like you're not in control of yourself.

I know some friends who started becoming addicted to football gambling.
Losing tons and still winning out some in the long run.

Eventually they learned they lesson and are still winning big time by betting at only matches they know more about.

That is really sad to hear because people are losing so much money and that too it is not that they are super rich and it wont effect them. People try to make money from gambling and forgetting that hardly few only win and rest of them will lose their money.

Here I can only see such stories about gambling where most of the people have only lost money. in few cases I can see that some people have made a little money from gambling while most of the are lost a lot of their money. so we can conclude the result here is gambling is one of the most difficult way of making money.

That is not a good conclusion, first we find out who is gambling whether the person is capable or unable in the sense of knowledge or implementing strategies to play intelligently, maybe you only see focus on one point if you know there are lots of people out there considering gambling As a field of profit and not just playing and wasting time is a very wrong thought, when talking about benefits is quite realistic at the moment because it is an obligation, what I think is that everyone can make a big profit in gambling, if smart in utilizing all opportunities.
I have many gambling addiction stories. Some with me and some with my friend. I have a friend who is also government employee and he is addicted to gambling. He plays different games like cards games, toss, and sports game for gambling. I never heard that he won a lot of money. He always loses because it is the nature of gambling that everyone loses.
Normally, if most gamblers should sit back and reflect on the amount they have lost over time compared to the amount they have won, I am sure a larger percentage of gamblers will find out they have lost more than they have won.

Addiction stories however starts with those who are so much looking at the possibilities of winning at all cost and then forget the fact that gambling is not a way to make money, and since they get to push their luck so much, they get so engrossed and before you know it, to get out becomes a challenge.
I am not regular gambler, therefore I have no story of my own, but I want to share a few words about gambling story. In my country gambling is not allowed and one my friend was gambling in a group and police rad that place. They took all their money because of no concept of online gambling and prisoned them all for atleast one month. Now you can understand the consequences of gambling.

I still remember, that was the lowest point in my life. It all started when I put up a soccer bet and I won quite a lot, that made me addicted, every day I always gamble on soccer betting, as time goes by that defeat starts to get familiar with me, I lose a lot of money and stuff I have everything run out. Even I started to owe the bank to be able to gamble, and that was the wrong way.

All of this is a lesson for me, now I am still gambling but within the limits of the money I have, if the money in my pocket is up I will go home. Don't owe to gamble.
That is the problem with gambling.
Once you win with the beginners luck you feel addicted into it and specially into sports betting.
Everyone feels like there will be a time when there picks will do the job and they'll win, multiplying money 100s of times.

I my personally have multiplied my money 120x in sports gambling. But i have also lost almost the same amount that i have won. I am not addicted to it but i do it for the fun of watching the sport
There are thousands of stories of gambling addictions and all have same verdicts. Nobody made huge amount of money in gambling and leaved. Gamblers always lose his own and winning money back in gambling. I think there is no good side of gambling, and then why not leave it? People want short way to make huge money but the results is against their wishes.

I hope everybody read this thread to make it clear that making money from gambling should never be an option else you would get wiped out and lose the money which is not what you would be wanting it. So rest assure you play just for fun.

It's a real bad decision if someone chose to be rich with gambling, most of the people I see in gambling lose money. There may be people who have earned in gambling but they may be less than 1% of the gambling population. If it's just for a short while fun it could be justified but if it's been on the purpose to earn it will be compromising your future for gambling.

The losing aspect is just a part of the whole gambling, however most of the stories here simply showed that those who ended up becoming so addicted to gambling chose that fate for themselves, by putting so much expectation with respect to winning in gambling.

It is either you win or lose, which in most cases you are always more susceptible to lose than win, and I wonder why people tend not to be able to fine tune their mind to that aspect and not get themselves engrossed in their gamble. I guess this discussion has already enlighten many people here on how to safe-play with gambling. These are not just stories here but a lesson from real scenarios hence remember theses will help at right times.

Thats the point that it's hard to get money from gambling, that is what all gamblers have to remember that gambling is not a place to get profit because of the enormous level of risk and what determines profit is not you but luck. because in many cases people become addicts because they think they can live from gambling income..
Certainly, some people know that, just that some are so adamant and so fond of what they want to believe in that facing the reality becomes a very difficult option for them. It is an easy thing, admit that there is nothing much you are getting from gambling and be ready to live with that, or simply just stay away if you know you cannot live with the idea of losing at all as this is the case where a lot of people usually have problem, and better you are in control from the start, than trying to gain control back at the end.

In majority of the cases people realize this only when they either suffer huge losses or when they are out of everything like all savings gone , took some money from friends and cannot repay it etc. Thus feels bad for such people who cannot understand such a simple thing that enjoy the moment and not go for money making form gambling.
Is it not even good if you realize where you have gone wrong after losing badly? A lot of people tend to push their luck further, hoping in some way they can still be able to recover what they have lost and then the ability to control that impulse as they keep losing keeps becoming hard and difficult. For someone who is able to quickly get a grasp of them-selves, it is indeed a very good start to being in control over your mistakes and making necessary amendments.
Yeah it is right that you will never read a story that a gambler has won big money in gambling but they always lost because in gambling no one make money instead they lose. I just know one person who won lottery game and now he has opened car bargain and spend happy lie but the reason is that he leaved gambling forever. If he continued he would lose all his money again.
