Well, average gamblers can be addicts. There is no guarantee to avoid addiction although you are an average gambler. However, if you can stick with your gambling habit in the right way and limit your funds/time in gambling, you can minimize the chance to be addicted. Those people who become addicts are surely the people who want to gambler with more funds and spend more time. They are trying to get the prizes as much as possible. This is the main reason that people become addiction. But if you are aware with the bad impacts of an excessive gambling and try to be a responsible gambler, you are in a safe way in gambling. I hope you never change your good habit in gambling, so you can be always safe from addiction.  Smiley
Yeah, for short if you're discipline enough to handle your finances then you won't get addicted to it. If your money is allocated to each category and won't spend it unless important, then you're in the right track. Gambling is just a pure entertainment and spending a lot of money there is kinda useless, making an investment is more profitable than spending money on gambling but winning only once. There's no guarantee to avoid addiction but lucky for me, even I tried gambling multiple times, I know my limits already and don't like it personally.

That's for sure, because when someone knows how to manage their finances properly, it means that they can distinguish between what is important and what is not, and maybe I would call them gamblers who know everything about what and how gambling really is, especially understanding the consequences of the risks, when someone really knows and understands how gambling really is, then in my opinion, without having to wait for advice from others, they will also be able to treat gambling properly by themselves or on their own initiative because they see that gambling will not make sense and will actually be dangerous if treated without caution.

Comparing gambling with investment, there is clearly a significant difference, although both are risky activities, investment still allows it to be treated more seriously because of the skills that can indeed increase the chances of profit for a trader/investor in a certain period of time, while for gambling, it is clear as you said that most of the results depend on how lucky you are when playing.

Greed is a major concern when we are talking about the personality of gamblers, if a gambler doesn't have a strong will to control himself he can become greedy and over gamble. The ability to stop gambling when it is going against you is paramount, without that constant reminders to stop after repeated loses can make a gambler to lose more money. People that understands gambling and have learned how to control their emotions will make better gamblers, they will not fall into the trap of gambling greed that can lead them to addiction. People who can not control themselves financially should not gamble, if they do, it can be disastrous for them because they might not be lucky to win, instead they might go bankrupt in continuing.
That is reflection of the real personality that can show to other people that will different from what they show in their daily life. Many people will not realize that their personality has changed a lot based on what they get from gambling and if that is greed, that can ruin their lives without mercy. It is why people must be able to control their emotions in any aspects not just in gambling because once they lose control, that can affect to many things in their lives. They will not be able to fix the mistake in a short time but they must trying to do that if they want to get the second chance to change. Those people who can not control themselves should not gamble instead use the other activities to have fun so they will not see the lose.

It is always like this, it is best to control the money we are going to put into the game, it is known that greed appears in the game as an option that always smiles at us , but I consider something, the more experience we have as players, greed Appears but we do not take it , for the simple fact that we have been through many things where things go wrong for us , and at these heights we fall again into the same mistakes where we pay for it with money, well , it is something that is not pleasant at all, so I think that greed is greater in newbies.
Controlling the money will always be recommended as that can help us to prevent the big lose. We also know that we are enough playing gambling for that day and we can take care our personality not to change without we know. When they can do that, gambling will not be their reflection of their personality because they know how to treat gambling with right and gambling is only one of many activities that they can use in their spare time. They don't depend on gambling to fills their spare time because they know that they must limit their gambling activity to prevent the bad things that can happen.

Is gambling really a mirror of one persons personality? People can fake their emotions, people are cunning and smart, people tend to lie. By gambling a person can only answer to himself if he is a risky person or prefer moderate risk. Since money are involved, truth will always be somewhere near, and people will always be different than they really are.
You can do anything to please anyone, form and pretend, but you can't hide the truth of who you truly are from yourself.

Your personality will always show when you are doing something that's just about you and you alone. When you are not in between trying to please anyone, that personality you have inside of you is what will apply to the person gambling habit.

I am an average gambler and I can't be an addicted gambler why because I play gamble as a responsible gambler and I have other responsibilities that I am doing so I can't deep into gambling and be addicted. Those who are addicted gambling are those who want to win always and a responsible gambler should not think of that to win gambling always, whenever he loses, he should rest for some hours or some days before thinking of coming back to gamble when he is persistent then he will also lose regularly and chasing the lose will make the person to be addicted in gambling.

Well, from what I've seen of the thread on this interesting topic, everything points to greed. If we handle stress, emotions, even money, the thing that always appears strongly and sometimes enough to break our own rules is greed. That is very difficult to combat, but even so, I notice that the best option for this is discipline and being very clear about what our objectives are in the casino. For me, it is the Acceptance of everything, whether winning or losing, but accepting the casino's designs without losing Control.

Yes, emotions really have a strong attachment to greed and some other aggressive actions such as the difficulty of stopping when you are experiencing defeat in the sense of not being able to accept the situation that you have lost at that time, on the other hand maybe your suggestion is right that greed and emotion can be overcome by discipline but in my opinion the first thing that must be considered and justified first is the understanding of the risks in gambling, meaning you must really understand and realize that gambling is indeed a risky activity in the sense that defeat can never be eliminated in the game and after that enter the discipline stage in my opinion.

If you dig deeper, it's even more simple. You need to understand that in gambling often plays a major role luck, which itself - a random event, so hoping that will fall out a favourable option that would earn - it is a known losing option, in consequence, if a person does not want to accept this fact.- he is already a ludomaniac, not a person who enjoys gambling

Yes, of course my gambling reflects my personality because we all have a style of gambling. We bet low, or high, we go all in, or never do it, we prefer games with high probability of a win, or low.

Some of us play difficult games, that you have to focus on, like poker, while others will play slots or plinko where you just press the button and it rolls by itself. Some people will borrow money, others will not. Some will lie about their gambling and try to hide it, others will brag about it.

You can learn a lot about a man in stressful situations and gambling is one of them.

It is already fixed that in gambling you gonna experience both win and loss, so as a responsible gambler you just got to set your Mind for the worse , that you can either win or lose , this where gambling for fun comes in . Because when you doing it for fun you won't have the time to cloud your mind with winning always, rather you will be able to know when to stop and call it a day than be addicted to it just in the name of Trying to win something big.

As we already know the repercussions brought by gambling, it is now on your hands how you will manage your gambling activities. Whether you will go into the brink of addiction or not. Because following your desires would just lead you into the rabbit hole. So before you even start or think that you will gamble, know where you stand on this addictive activity. And decide how you can limit yourself with your games.

In the end, it all comes back to ourselves because when we cannot make ourselves disciplined in gambling or at least think more mature then in the end there is nothing that can be done because the gambling that is done will end up destroying ourselves because we cannot be disciplined in financial management, plans in gambling, trying to limit in terms of profits and losses and must be prepared with all forms of risk or what is called accepting whether the results will be a defeat or victory in every session in gambling that we do.

If in the end such things cannot be done where our financial management becomes bad, not trying to apply limits so that when we lose we just try again and again even with the last money then the situation will not end well and a lot of people are stuck with this condition because they do not have a level of discipline in gambling that in the end they only focus on winning but they do not try to accept when they lose.

Greed is actually very synonyms to the emotional attachment to gambling because it takes some level of greed to get emotional about your stake because if the money you stake is small you don't get emotional attachment to it because if you're stake a huge amount you will most likely get attached because the money is one thing that you will consider that you would have probably used it to do something else maybe.

~

I have long believed that certain types of personalities tend to one type of addictions more than others, as in drugs, people who normally tend to be bored tend to end up more hooked on stimulants such as caffeine or cocaine, while people who are nervous tend to the opposite, looking for more soothing drugs. But gambling, I would say, can affect any personality type.
Your closure sums your point up in a surprising manner of what gambling addiction is capable of, despite the personality involved, and I agree with that. Just like religion, gambling affects all types of personalities  None escapes it. If we take gambling to religion (this isn't to digress but to make my point clearer), you will find well educated folks who adhere to instructions from their semi or stalk illiterate priests. Once someone wears a cassock they automatically look like semi gods to these folks. Thus whatever they say is taken as words the divine. It mesmerizes their minds and their brains lose the ability to think properly. That's what religion does. It's the same way gambling mesmerizes the minds of gamblers, no matter the personality.

When gambling and losing I have not been able to see someone calm, not only from my personal experience that I get mad when I used to lose money but also when I was working in a betting center in early 2000-s years and I saw the manager close his office door with key, locking himself in and playing there in his PC as it was just starting FIAT online casinos and when he used to get out of that door he was burning red in his face from the fact that he had lost his salary and more in gambling so he became very angry from gambling while in normal mood he was a very nice, calm and friendly person and gambling had the power to completely change his mood and behavior so yes it can be a reflection of our personality.
Because in addition to losing money, this entails a series of consequences, if he lost his salary in one day, what will he do for a whole month without money? It will not be possible to simply forget about the loss in a few days, this will happen every time he needs money. By the way, if I am not mistaken, bookmaker employees are not allowed to gamble, this is prohibited by the employer's rules. Problems with gambling begin where the player decides that playing for big money is a good idea.

You are right but humans can not be 100% discipline that's why most times disciplined gamblers also fall into temptations. But even if one can be tempted by money through loss chasing at least they should try to control it. If chasing loss becomes a habit it's very important to take a brake on gamble rather than continue then lose more everyday. Gamble only becomes interesting when gambling responsibly. Risking the amount you can afford to lose will help a gambler not to become greedy and chase after losses.
Yes, but it doesn't matter, because there comes a time when discipline becomes a habit, I say this because it happens to me and if one tries to break that discipline one feels bad, that's how it is with diets, well I say diets of eating healthy, without sugar , bad fats or something like that, we are always going to look for the best things for our being and more so when it comes to money, the reason why that discipline goes away is that the effects of alcohol can do it, or extraordinary things, but it is rare for that to happen.
