Some people purposely put themselves in such psychological trauma that they can become so depressed and traumatized by the situation they put themselves in. I don't know if you read about the old topic where the man gambled with the money that was meant to be used for his wedding. The worst part of the story was that the money was not only his own but also that of his wife, but because the man thought he could win some bets and multiply the money, he spent it all on gambling and lost everything. After that incident, I wonder what the kind of psychological situation might be.
I participated in this thread, it's a shame this happened. Anyway, gambling based on chance is a box of surprises and many times it doesn't depend on the player's performance, like slot games where it's 50/50. A weak psychology causes emotional dependence on games that directly influences the results (even more so!), as the player tends to bet more if he loses to chase losses and when he wins, he continues betting without stopping instead of withdrawing, returning to square one.
I think gambling should be seen as a hobby, you have to be willing to lose, that is, bet with money that you can afford to lose and not with money to pay the bills. But the adrenaline and high doses of dopamine when you are doing well in the game, make some addicted people want to take this risk.
Play for fun and don't see the whole thing as an investment.
Some people started gambling primarily for the purpose of making a profit, probably because their friends are making little profit from gambling. After they started gambling, they could not stop again, even when their decisions were always fruitless. I started gambling because my friends were doing it and making money out of it, but when I started gambling, I actually targeted it as a means to get small pocket money, but I later realized how the game was, so I retraced my steps. I cannot gamble with a huge amount, especially the money I want to use for some important stuff.
Some people make the decision to start gambling but don't have an escape plan when things get hot, and that's why it's wise to only gamble with the amount they can afford to lose.
