I saw a news today about a person who decided to end his life after losing around 150K in a single bet, the person is an average middle class with a wife and baby and his annual income will be around 40K (max) then why on earth he decided to bet that big amount on a single bet. It's evident that his greed forced him to take such decision but as a result he lost the life and leaving the loved ones stranded. What's your take on this matter?

People are too quick to react in a bad way when they lose money that they can't be able to pay back or take the reality that they lost that huge amount of money. Committing suicide doesn't solve any problem because while you're gone out of this world, you have your family still in the world to take all the blames for your actions because they'll have to pay for the losses assuming the money was borrowed. And if the money wasn't borrowed but it's yours, why are you taking your life when that money can be made back. Suicide shouldn't be an option for us and we can avoid being in this situation by gambling in a responsible manner, don't over stake money that we can't avoid to lose because we are going to lose at some point when gambling and don't believe anything that others tell you about a game being guaranteed for success, only believe in your own self.

Although you didn't provide the link of this story but from your content, I think he gambled under pressure because he might have something he wanted to use big money for so then he decided to gamble because he believe that gamble can provide the amount he needed to sort what he wanted.
If he gets 40k from salary, gambling 150k is not reasonable for a responsible gambler because that's a huge amount for him and he can not afford to risk it. Wish the link was provided would have known if he wagered all of them at ones or gradually.

There have been warning for people to always gamble within their means and not gamble above their weekly, monthly or yearly income at a straight bet. It's always advisable to gamble with the amount that they can afford to lose than gambling with such huge amount, knowing too well that gambling is a game of luck and chances which we can't define the outcome to be true or false.
This case would also serves as another warning to people who allows greed to control them over their gambling activities.

What's your take on this matter?

We do not know what is behind this story. Maybe he already had gambling debts or for other reasons and that was the reason for the high single bet. Someone who has a good life and a comfortable financial situation does not suddenly go crazy and gamble everything he has and more on a single bet. There could be mental problems behind it, drug problems, etc. Without knowing more we can only speculate.

This is more than addiction because how will he use almost 4 years of his annual income on a single bet. Did he think that it was a sure bet? Greed was what made him commit suicide, and this should be a lesson for gamblers that thinks there is a sure bet somewhere. Addiction might also be the cause of his wreckless action. No one should put the blame on gamble.

He had thought and high imagination made him fall into a black hole. Maybe his imagination that he would win and the amount of money he won would make him realize what he had been holding back all this time.

Since this issue we do not know the type of gambling, then my opinion about this issue, he was too stupid for himself. The stupidity may be that he did not understand the type of gambling being played. The other may be that he had surrendered to the conditions between finances and needs. Or he was too greedy with his lust.

IMO might be that he's planning to win huge amount and use them to do something important but unfortunately it didn't end well for him. However this is not new in the gambleworld anymore because lot of this things has been happening way back and this can't be last of it. Actually committing a suicide is no the best thing to do after losing everything you have worked for while you gamble.. The best step to take is visit a gamble counselor for advice because such persons will encounter some trauma after losing everything he worked so hard for. 150k is a huge amount for a gambler that gets paid of 40k per month, that's the amount such person can not afford to risk but he did risked it and it didn't end well for him.

You need to include the link of the news if you want people to believe that what you are talking about is true.

This is legitimate news spreading in social media and it's not in English which is why I didn't share the news, if I found the article talked about that in English, I will leave the link in the first post.

Also this triggered the wave against the social media influencers who promoted gambling apps with false claims like they won an amount on their first bet in a platform and bought their dream car/house, etc which are obviously lies but it's pathetic to see how people believe in such lame story and try to replicate but end up badly or even worse.

If you want to become rich then gambling is not the solution should be the moral from this incident.

He just prove he gambled all the way. First he risk his money and now he also risk the future of the baby. Some of us just double down to play the game, carelessness I think.

Even when they say go big or go home, you still have to calculate your risk whether its worth it that you will not eat after losing the entire savings you keep for years.

Suicide is not the solution to gambling loss, shame, and guilt. It is a selfish thing that leaves your family pained and hurt. Your family will always love you despite making stupid decisions and that is not the worst crimes in the world. Gambling addicts should seek help. Gambling addicts should not be stigmatized. There are other ways out.

He wants to double or maybe triple his money. But he lost instead. People should not gamble because of money. $150 thousand is enough to establish a very good and lucrative business.

This should be a case of addiction which was not controlled. The player here could have tried professional help to get him out of his addiction but he ended up playing one game too many and could not face the repercussion of his actions leading to suicide.

With a story like this you should also share your source for those that will like to read it up themselves.
