I agree with you. Most unwise gamblers often want to win even more. They are very greedy and aim for wins with a multiplier of tens of times. You can see how greedy gamblers aim for the jackpot. Can you possibly make a list of the mistakes you are talking about?, because for all I know, there are no mistakes in gambling, most especially in playing games that are completely luck based, like slot and casino games..
In sports betting, there can be mistakes that can lead to a loss, of which I myself have made such mistakes in some occasions, where in one of the mistakes, I bet on the same team/club in a football match, four different times, and they lost the match, and I also lost my bet in four places.

Except the type of mistake you are talking about is in terms of like betting or playing with money we never intend losing, or over betting and so on, if this is what you mean, then I personally will not consider that a mistake, but deliberately actions which didn't play out the way we intended it to, because for example, if the player had won, he or she wouldn't have considered the over betting, or betting with amount he or she was not ready to lose; a mistake.
