True, however this is a mentality that is not so common these days due to how easily available credit is now, decades ago you only bought on credit things like a house or a car, but once the credit card was invented this changed the behaviors of the people all over the world, so instead of saving until they have enough money to purchase what they want, they purchase what they want right now and pay later, and it is obvious this mentality has taken over most people and they apply it to gambling as well.

Which is true because aside from getting the money you want if in-case you are lucky on that given day, it's also hard to deny that you will not be entertained that is why people forget sometimes what their boundaries are because of that factor. This is more obvious at a physical casino, but everything you see at the casino is there because it increases the chances that you will gamble more, this is why at Las Vegas casinos you cannot exit the hotel without going through the casino as this forces you to at least take a look at the games and this will tempt you to play even if that was not your intention at the time, so our self-control needs to be at its peak when we are gambling otherwise it will be incredibly easy for us to gamble way more money than what we intended.
