I used to gamble with parents when I was a kid. Blackjack, poker, chess, checkers. But most of the time I lose to my father. Now I understand he cheated all the time
Yes I gamble and play with my parents it is one of our family time.
We usually play cards when we gamble but sometimes we bet with other stuff like who would do the chores who would clean the house.
This type of gambling can be very interesting, because everyone would be battling to win since no one likes to do house chores. But I would rather try gambling with my friends than family because at the end some siblings will not stick to their own side of the deal and that can be discouraging. It reminds me of my old friend who always gambled with his family, he told me it is always fun until someone looses. According to him, gambling with family should not be considered gambling, it can cause misunderstanding. I have never tried gambling with my family, and I hope to do that someday so that I can know how it feels.
gambling is a gambling no matter who you are playing with . gambling with your own family is not thrilling at all but its fun because you wont mind loosing or winning . gambling with family is not bad as long as adults are alll playing and if there is under age or kids , please dont gamble if they are around because this gives them a bad influence . as an adult we must teach them good things because young kids tends to follow what adults are doing .

Playing games with parents is a good thing like cards , ludoking etc.Gambling with your parents is not a good thing and I doubt there are any parents that like to teach their kids gambling.I don't know any family and have never seen one that gamble with their kids and teach them gambling.

That game will never gets old and honestly, my grandfather are still playing this one but of course there's no kids anymore. Gambling with your parents is normal in some places and I have no doubt if the local gambling in my place is just like this. I've seen many younger player on every places and it looks like their parents are not care at all, well if i become a parents too I will never let my child to play gambling I will make sure to guide them well.

Some people have the tradition of gambling, I can believe that but at a wake seems pretty incredible. Never heard of that before but card games are very social, I totally understand that aspect. When money is involved then it gets more serious and some people are so bad with money, it shouldn't be taken too seriously or turn negative. Gambling is just entertainment like anything.
Sounds alot like drinking alcohol, a little is best. Too much is time to stop which when its part of your culture is much harder so you got my sympathy on that one. I always recommend competitive sports as an alternative and the winner buys the drinks or something reverse, they have that honour

Gambling with your parents might be the unusual bonding of the family but I was able to experience this one before.
In my place, you can gamble on the wake which is normal and a form of sympathy. I was young that time and my dad was playing on the other table called "Mahjong", my Mom was playing "Bingo", and I'm playing card game (Tong-its) that time and it looks like my whole family are playing and aiming to win some money
When I grew up, gambling becomes our source of happiness but suddenly becomes our worst enemy because honestly my parents got separated because of gambling and until now they blame the addiction of my dad. I'm old enough now to realize that was a biggest mistake of my family, to let that addiction ruin our family. I promise to myself not to be like my dad, I will not expose my kids into gambling.
Will you do the same mistakes of my family or you will keep your kids or even yourself away from gambling?
I guess you are from the Philippines since you mentioned tong-its. In our country, its not new to see family members play or gamble like cards or a dice game where you roll 2 dice and cover with a cup, then guess what number came out, its called beto beto. My parents are rather strict and traditional so there's no way I could gamble with them.
I'm sorry to hear that your parents separated because of it. They were probably taking it too far in the other direction. My parents would never touch it with a stick but this way they are missing all the fun. Your parents got too involved and probably lost some money and got angry at each other. Everything is good if you know when to stop.

That's very unfortunate for you to experience such fate mate. For me there is nothing wrong in gambling with your parents as long as you have some limit or you just there for fun. Being a good gambler take a lot of discipline and that characteristic if absent on you then you are doomed to fail in life. Life in it self is a gamble in my view as we have to make decisions that can make or break our future. For me, if you gamble and you have discipline and you know what you are doing then you are good.
Gambling with the parents is always fun filled once you have been with your limit it will always been fun but in somethings money please everyone it will definitely effect with the family also so you need to be careful in anything if it was family in gambling also.
If I have a habit of gambling, the first thing I would do is to hide it from my parents. I don't think its a good idea to gamble with parents. On the first hand typical parents in my country will not allow their children to gamble. No matter how old are they. In my opinion, playing games with parents is fine but gambling is not a good idea.

Gambling is a game of losing and making profits or winning and it is very clear we understand that gambling with our parents in an offline ways is not what I do really support but if it is an online one I don't think you will have much problems as we don't really know who we are gambling with and everything is anonymous.

i find it normal to gamble with family members for fun and sometimes doing it specially online. but if you take it like you sunk in debts because of you gambling habit, its not normal. its going to be different if you live somewhere abundant with job offers. if you live in a fishing village, it would be different since you'd be in the middle of the ocean by night and goes home by dawn and you'd be selling your fishes by day, you might not find time to gamble.

I dont want my kids to try or learn how to gamble, we all know the consequences of gambling and its not advisable to play when your kids are around they might think its alright to gamble since their parents are doing it.Any form of physical gambling in our place are now prohibited by the authorities hence there's no way to gamble anymore unless you're willing to pay the fine for breaking the rules.
Thus I can only gamble online and making sure that my kids are not seeing me.
Even I wont really have that mindset to let my kids do see me when i gamble.I know the consequences and i dont like for my children to experience the negative things that it can possibly give to them.
There are lots of other hobbies or activities which is more enjoyable than gambling and i would rather choose that one over gambling.

As parents, we really don't want to see our kids getting involved in gambling. But if our environment tends to lean on to gambling whether as source of income or just to bond with families or just simply to have some fun then it's hard to control what our kids will do in the future. For me, don't let our kids learn how to gamble, sooner or later when they grow up, there's a big chance that it may lead to something that they are going to regret in the future, imho.

As much as possible I would not let them near any gambling habits. But since we live in an environment where gambling is pretty much accepted, it is kind of impossible to do. The best I can do is to train my children to practice restraint. I will train them to have control so that they will not be addicted to it.

At least the parents need to educate your self first before introducing gamble to you. My parents say to me they not agree if doing a gamble with using money, but i still ignore him LoL, but i still try to control my emotion not using all of my money and know went to play & stop.
Maybe it is for educating; to some other people but gambling is not really for making money and it is merely for fun only. To some parents, i don't think they will allow their children to play gamble unless if they have a job already. And no family would let their children get addicted to gambling since they already know what could cause it in the long run unless if they were rich. Jump to:
