So, after my wife and I watched New Year fireworks in San Francisco, I came back home at 1:30 a.m., squeezed my poor brain, and then realized that the size of the slot cache in LDS can be significantly reduced by recycling it. This should be a better way to increase occupancy than splitting rounds. We shall see.

I was able to split Wagner's rounds, but it turned out that I need to reduce LDS usage further to take full advantage of the splitting. I will probably stick with the GCN assembly instead of AMD IL because I would rather not deal with another abstraction layer. It's New Year Eve my time in California. Happy mining, and I will see you guys next year!

Hey Zawawa is this you as well

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.17351390

if not id get with him, I'm gonna try that proxy , why i say you, he made a comment very close to yours about the Fee miners if it's not.

You're missing the frame and the picture, my friend Smiley
I don't think Zawawa or any other decent developer would do anything like that. He is not trying to remove the fee off Claymore's or any others miner, he's simply trying to prove that open source mining software is the real support for each and every altcoin existing on the market.

I mess read it sigh and didn't get back in time to delete my post mistakes are made it was a honest mistake i don't want to by pass the fee either but use a miner that has no free and does the same thing let those ass have there fees.  i thought it was a real proxy for these type of alt coins with no fee that works like this one https://github.com/Stratehm/stratum-proxy/releases buy the way it was put at first and I would never ask anyone to cheat anyone no matter how bad that person is that should be cheated haven't you noticed that yet about me on the forums. It was mistake !!! trust me after I fully read what it does, i felt bad and do get the so called big Picture as you put it .

Besides, I'm done using claymore sense 9.1 it has been nothing but a nite mare for me if I try to mine ZEC with his miner i'll take the lose in speed over , over heating and and miners shutting down for no reason when i use CM's miner, i don't complain most the time and move on i know it won't do any good to any way .. and it is his miner causing it so far sense 9.1 is had been but when I use this one it doesn't  nor does it with  sgminer if i ask for help to add more stuff etc or better API access so i can set it up better then with his only settings, i either get ignored and end up being a total ass or told WTF .

well any way have a

 HAPPY NEW YEAR

thanks top

How is your card overheating CM fault?  Instability is also not miners fault, it is hardware issue, probably with PSU, you can also try setting lower powerlimit (I have never had issue, but some others with lesser quality PSUs do this).  I have 6 rigs, never a crash, all running cool, with medium fan speeds, highest intensity, all undervolted. If you have stability issues, it's almost guaranteed you will have same issues when GG eventually matches speed, since cards need pushed to reach highest speeds.

As for fees, I don't see issue charging a fee for work, as long as it is reasonable (.... looking at you Optiminer).  You are mining a coin and giving 20% to coin devs btw so.....  Do you solo mine? If not, you pay pool fee. Do you use Windows?  I guess no one at MS should feed their families. FOSS is fine, but often a money is needed to pay devs, so charging isn't some evil crime either. Many FOSS projects have many paid devs btw.....

I will address usability/compatibility issues as soon as I am done with the optimization I am currently working on. I will probably choose one specific target driver for each card so that I don't have to work with a whole bunch of different drivers.

Can you tell me which version of windows it was compiled for/in and which driver version you currently using using for AMD.

All binaries are compiled with VS 2015 Community Edition in Windows 10 64-bit for Windows 7 64-bit and later, and they are tested against AMD Crimson 11.2 and NVIDIA Display Driver 376.33.

I tried to run it on three different cards on three different rigs. 470,480 and 7950. diver version 16.11.5
I'm using .0.03 precompiled binaries.

If I try to run sa-solver on its on I get this msg before it crashes

Building program
OpenCL build failed <-11> Build log follows:

thats it.

Claymore 9.1/9.2 works.

I haven't done exact calculations yet, but I should be able to get 250-300 sol/s with RX 480 and a GCN assembler.

That's a reasonable target, however you'll find it is very difficult to write a kernel that works for gcn1.0-gcn1.2.  You'll probably have to write at least 3 different kernels, and possibly more to support the different ABIs.  For example the OpenCL2.0 ABI is not supported for GCN 1.0 devices under Linux (just GCN 1.1 & 1.2 devices).  Neither SPIR nor HSAIL seem to expose the GDS, so the only way of writing a kernel that is portable across different AMD GPUs would be AMDIL.

sorry im a bit confused here ... im on ubuntu 16.04 and using amdpro-gpu. i did a:

Code:
git clone https://github.com/zawawawa/gatelessgate.git
cd gatelessgate
make

now listing files in folder:
Code:
blake.c  blake.o  gatelessgate.bat       gatelessgate.py  _kernel.h    list.bat  main.o    param.h    sa-solver  sha256.h  SILENTARMY-v5.zip  thirdparty        windows
blake.h  dump.co  gatelessgate-dev2.bat  input.cl         LICENSE.txt  main.c    Makefile  README.md  sha256.c   sha256.o  testing            vcruntime140.dll

where is silentarmy? and if its the one in the zip file, do i extract and compile it in the same folder?

thanks

You just need to run "gatelessgate.py" instead of "silentarmy.py" I will update the documentation.

I just figured out a way to give GG the final boost it needs to catch up with Claymore's etc.
All I need to do is to divide each round of Wagner's into subrounds according to the number of slots in each row.
The basic idea is to put rows with fewer slots together to reduce the size of the read cache for slots and to increase occupancy.
This is almost guaranteed to work as there shouldn't be too much over head.
Wonderful news!

btw, I think you will get more donations in near future - I have "New Year's gift" for fee-based miners Grin

nice work.  it hasnt took you long to catch up with Claymore. (need a thumbs up emoji)

How far do you think you can think you can push the RX cards?  Do you have a dev fee included in your miner or are you just going on donations?

I haven't done exact calculations yet, but I should be able to get 250-300 sol/s with RX 480 and a GCN assembler. I wouldn't implement a dev fee as (1) I think cryptomining should be more egalitarian and equalizing in terms of the distribution of wealth and power, in line with the original intent of Satoshi Nakamoto, and (2) I personally think it is really lame.

I've been thinking that for some time now and keeping my thoughts to me ...

If you get that much speed I'll donate the speed increase for a few months, thanks for making this open source!
