Just got my latest order, 2 more gridseeds.  They didn't come with power pigtails, but I figured I'd plug them in to my powered USB hub and see what happened.  cgminer-3-7-2-gridseed detected them automatically and they started hashing away.   cgminer detected them, but they show 0 WU after 10 minutes.  The green lights blink, but no red lights like on my working units. The fans aren't running, but I'm told that doesn't matter in scrypt only mode.

Do these no longer ship with power pigtails?  Is it official that it's safe to run them in scrypt only mode without the fans?
They still need external power even with a powered usb hub. It will show up in cgminer but it's not hashing. Gaw sells power adaptors and cables. For just two miners you could get a couple of cheap 12V 1A adaptors from ebay like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/271442451746?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I wouldn't get those specific ones:  "Output: DC 12V, 1000mA. (Recommend the use of current is less than 1A, otherwise easily damaged)".

If say only 0.5A is safe on those, that's 6W.  Get a 12V adapter with at least 2-3 amps available I'd say.
I'm not an expert, but if the gridseed needs .5A then it doesn't matter if the PSU is 1,2 or 3 Amps, the gridseed will pull what is needed not more. With the fan on if I remember when I got my first gridseed it was just under 10 watts which is why I suggested the 1 amp. Again I could be wrong, but for a single gridseed I think 1000mA is enough. Gaw sells them (or used to) so safest bet would just to buy from them if in doubt  Wink

GAW no longer provides power connectors with gridseed pods, and it is correct that single pod needs no more than 10 watt when in scrypt only mode (typically 7-8W with fan, 6-7W without, with VMOD1 and disconnected fan it draws ~9W @ 950 MHz, 9W = 12V * 0.75A).  I run multiple gridseeds off brick style power supplies with splitters, 8 off 8A brick and 4 off 5A brick (should be able to do 6, it's just that I got bunch of 1 to 4 splitters) in either case brick is warm to the touch, not hot, and gridseeds are happy.

One amp PSU will NOT power two gridseeds (I tried Wink).

Search eBay/Amazon/meritline/dealextreme etc for 12V CCTV splitters (you need 2.1mm diameter barrel connector), eBay/meritline/dealxtreme route is cheaper than anything else.  There are 1 to 4 splitters available for around $3, and 1 to 8 for $5, oftentimes with free shipping and even for less if you are willing to wait for delivery from China.  Also on ebay I saw bundles ob brick PSUs and splitters.

I wish I could use my blade with nicehash. They reject everything. I imagine because of:

Quote
Popular cgminer 3.7.2 is not supported due to the bug in the code. You have to use newer miner.
Use bfgminer and you can use nicehash.

You don't need the fans for scrypt only mode but there is no on off switch, you have to actually cut the wires to turn it off.

My first two came with barrel jack pigtails which I spliced into a spare cable that came with my PSU. I assumed these would as well, but they did not.  Do GAW gridseeds no longer ship with power pigtails?

Got my double hash reward payment.  Thanks GAW!!

When did you order?

I didn't seem to be getting any reward. Order number is #3150. And it isn't online yet.

Only users with orders on or before April 1st should have received last week's Double Your Hash reward. The second week of Double Your Hash started today and will end in a week. So please await your payouts.

If you've contacted me about a missed payout for Week 1, please await my reply. We're currently looking into your account and eligibility to determine whether you're:

a) a Founders Club Member
b) registered by EOD April 15th

Thank you!

Hi, if I wrote through your website does this count as I've contacted you? (Order 1119 and 1439 <- Which was on or before april 1st)?

If you used the contact us form on the website you might want to try the support ticket instead. I had an issue a few weeks ago and the contact us form didn't seem to work, and I didn't know about or see the support tab. If you are on the home page of GAW on the left side of your screen there's a support tab, like the "reviews" tab that you see on the store section and you can fill out a support request. Seems to work better, but it's easy to overlook. If you used that, then ignore my post  Grin

Hello Everyone,

I setup my own user name so I could speak to users/customers directly.

Its been an exciting last month (thats all its been!), things have grown bigger and faster then I ever could have imagined! Its just amazing to see how this community will rally around companies that do things better and different. I hope, for the most part, we have earned that tittle with you guys.

While we went from a name no one had ever heard of, to one of the largest hardware suppliers in the world, I know we could/can improve in many areas. We have some ideas about what those things are, but who cares what we think right? What matters is what you think.

I wanted to invite direct feedback on what we can do to improve our company and additional things we should offer to our customers. Please email me at: [email protected] I personally monitor this address.

Any of those that I have dealt directly with can tell you, I read all feedback we receive and use it to make decisions on how we can improve our business.

I understand its a privilege for you to even take the time to write and provide that feedback, so I thank you in advance.

If you are a current member and want to order more units will they be up any sooner then May 2?

They sure as hell better not be, this would be complete BS if they did allow this.  Angry
FYI: I was paid double hash for both hosted and non-hosted blades. I have a mix of both.

No, GAW is not putting new current members online before May 2 if they order more units. I know, because I just ordered more and was told they would be online on May 2 at the earliest.

Yeah I noticed the "online by:" date as well when I ordered and had saw the announcement on the forums.  I got 1 blade order 2 days early, the other came online when they promised.
Does stink that it is no longer instantly online[now I sound spoiled], but at least they've been responsive and for me, stuck with their online dates or faster in my case.

They also clearly explained why this was done..   They were increasing and upgrading their data center so they can host more..

Again I will state

"I believe they base your Double your Hash on what you have purchased before 4/26...   Not what you have received or is up and hosted before 4/26...  Read it again"..

I am not sure what is so hard to understand about this..  They dont pay you based on what YOU ARE HASHING AT during that week. They pay you based on what you have purchased by 4/25

So lets say you:

Purchased a 10 pack and its up and hosted..

Purchased a blade and its up and hosted

Purchased a 20 pack but it wont be up until May 02

You will get double your Hash for all 3 of the above.. Including the Purchased a 20 pack that wont be up until May 02

This is the way I understand it will work and GAW and let us know if this is not correct..  But I think it is..

Correct. They are paying on LTC prices for the week-long-period based on the advertised hash rate of the equipment you purchased from them.

** If you purchased a single Gridseed 5-chip miner you get paid for 300Kh/s. If you mod said Gridseed unit and bump it's hashing power up to 500Kh/s, you still get paid for 300Kh/s.
** If you purchased a single Gridseed Blade miner you get paid for 5.2Mh/s. If you overclock it at 838MHz (and why wouldn't you?) it runs at 5.7Mh/s. Guess what, you get paid for 5.2Mh/s.

Make sense? That's how it works.
