Potcoinfan comes to mind and a few others. Poor kid if that is him with an arrest record already for drugs, what will they find in his house when they come knocking or the dogs come sniffing.

One of the most interesting issues w/ the SEC investigation is the potential effect on proof of stake coins.

I'm curious if cryptsy or bittrex got a subponea, especially cryptsy since Vern opened up a USD/XPY market...

Have to wonder if the interns or aides at the SEC who have to sift through all this shit giggle when they catalog forum user names with real names. Then check for outstanding warrants and wanted lists and no fly lists and whatever else they do with the data? Should remember that for the future make a respectable user name in case the feds come a knocking.

lol, at least mine is pretty consistent with my actual name.

My guess is that they're going to be most interested in folks who were actively trying to pump the coin and get folks to buy into the coin.
It wouldn't make sense to go after joe-schmoe zencloud customer unless they're a really huge fish, and even then it would be the IRS who would be interested, not the SEC. SEC is usually just looking for securities fraud or regulatory breaches. I don't know what kind of message passing the two have.

So I'm thinking that their interest is to see how many singular people were impacted by GAW's lies more than it is to track down everyone. I know there were a ton of folks who had multiple accounts, so that would explain the need for a legitimate name behind each.

For some reason this reminds me of when the SEC went after Vonage for their botched IPO, except vonage wasn't a scam. They just had a CEO who didn't understand securities law.

I think as suchmoon points it out simply:

THEY WANT EVERYTHING

Ouch.

If some lives weren't ruined already, cannot imagine the explanation others might have to give when the SEC calls the household, after telling the missus, everything is alright, we will be rich...soon.

Anyone who bought anything from Gaw, Paycoin, Paybase, Zen, their names addresses tel. no, forum user names, etc must be submitted to the SEC

How to get out of this mess?

Pretty sure by investors they mean partners of the business. That's why in the same request they also require salary/dividend/capital gains info for each person.

AFAIK those of us who bought into GAW didn't get salaries, dividends, or capital gains.

Scroll down, page 11, #16 and #18, "Documents sufficient to identify all Persons who purchased PayCoin from GAW...", both during the ICO and after.

Paul and Vlad, the SEC owns you both  Grin

Ah damn, I must have missed that in the walls of text. Looks like they've got my name, though I'm not sure how GAW could have complied. To my knowledge all I ever gave them was a name and credit card info, and some bitcoin. No SSN, no proof of ID, etc. Pretty squarely in violation of "know your customer" laws if that is what their purpose was for.

Oh well, they can pass the info on to the IRS and I can get a tax writeoff. Smiley

Yep.  I posted this last night, but here it is again (focuses in on user info SEC is seeking):

I guess one of the risks of making personal profits from a proven crypto scam is the fact that the SEC may one day want your personal details.

all persons who bought coins, hashtakers, investors, public investors, etc. then again all persons who bought coins and everything else, after the coins went public.  Think they are fishing for not only the major players but also general public that got duped buying coins with credit cards at the launch, and buying coins after the launch in paybase and any person who converted those things they were selling to paycoins. I may have missed it but does buying include say BTC to XPY or is buying only FIAT to XPY? Or buying is buying regardless of the currency or coupon or whatever?

Does anybody know if GAW complied with the SEC subpoena?  The deadline was 27th February.

I wonder if they have to include information about people who were banned from both hashtalk and zencloud, effectively stealing their money? That would be a pretty huge NONO.
