so i am going to ask a question in general since i mostly post on these forums. I would like to know everyone opinion " with out the troll or negative unfounded answers " what do you all think is going on with bitcoin. Seems like it has been dropping like crazy i mean we not near any holidays or anything like that so what do you all think. Once again please no troll answers or people mad who bought btc at like $600  and now it has dropped.

thanks  Smiley   Huh

Several reasons for the drop:
1. Panic induced by a whale selling since the beginning of September. (regular dumps of ~1000BTC between 5 and 8 UTC on bitstamp).
2. The innitial sales broke below $340 which was the old bottom and caused even more people to bail out.
3. There was a bearish trend since the double top at $660 (stamp price) in July, which only maade things easier for the dumpers.
4. Some sad whale tried to manipulate the price by moving a $30k sell wall on stamp. Just a few hours ago the wall was eaten and we came back up over $300, which is bullish.

As more merchants adopt it the price will go down. This is because now there is more places to spend bitcoins, those merchants are using services like coinbase or bitpay that take those bitcoins and then resell them for cash on exchanges like bitstamp thus lower the price of bitcoin.

Bitcoin price probably wont go up again until there is more consumer for demand for the coin or until these business can start paying their suppliers in bitcoin and thus less will be converted to cash on exchanges.

The price lowering is further fueled by large scale miners. As each bitcoin becomes worth less the miners have to sell more and more of their coins everyday to cover their operating costs, once again further lowering the price of bitcoin.
so let me get this straight bitcoin is trying to get accepted world wide for different reasons but mostly get away from fiat. Am i good so far? ok so now the more this dream comes true and more and more large merchants accept it the lower the price " may " go. If that is the case i really hope places like walmart accept bitcoin lol .... just my 2 cents ... now if those merchants learn to hold and not sell asap then it might be good  Grin

I think that's pure speculation - but that's what you asked for Smiley. So here some more.

It could easily go the other way. The more bitcoin is accepted, the more demand will there be for it albeit temporarily at least for the purposes of money transfer. 99% of the population (I'm generous here, probably 99.999% or something) don't hold BTC so they will need to buy the coins if they want to take advantage of the quick low cost worldwide money transfer, whether it's from your bank account to Walmart, or Walmart then using it to pay their Chinese manufacturers, or for person-to-person transfers, or for some other purpose. Think of it as a PayPal alternative (or even PayPal itself using it transparent to their customers) more so than an investment vehicle. Think of all that wave-your-card-at-the-cash-register garbage that banks have been pushing unsuccessfully for years, bitcoin can replace that without users even knowing it's bitcoin underneath. I'm sure there are many other uses people way smarter than me and you can come up with. Some of it might even stick and make us rich Smiley

I don't see how anyone makes money from this? can someone explain it?
You have to look for topics with hashlet ROI tracking.

How long is the ROI for ZenHashlet compared to Genesis??

Average payout for the next 24H so you can do some numbers .

Zen Hashlet (1mh/s) :        ZenPool           0.00060102 BTC (today amount for zen is low , usually is 0.00066xxx)

Genesis Hashlet (10 GH/s): GenesisGuild   0.0001451 BTC (payout for Genesis use to be more too 0.00015xxx)

I saw this when I logged into my Zencloud today:

Quote
A message from the CTO:

There are still remaining issues that are being worked on and resolved as quick as possible. We will also be reconciling old accounts that have not been paid out correctly due to merging/splitting/boosting/double hash.

Here are some of the remaining issues and statuses:

Double Hash not paying out correctly -Fixed -Need to reconcile all accounts for payout issues
Double Hash lasting longer than 12 hrs -Fixed
Caching issue on client browser (balance/HP/Miners) -Fixed by allowing the admin to clear the cache for a user
Ability to apply boost upgrade while mining a second pool (double hash) -Fixed
Withdraw fee not properly deducted -In progress
Customer perception issue when upgrading SHA hardware to Hashlets. Hardware to Hashlet upgrades reset the billing start date to 0 free days (by design) -Hashlets cannot have free days like hardware devices
Customer perception issue concerning when payouts occur for merging/splitting HashletsBefore, Hashlets that were merged/split were paid out immediately. This caused much confusion and extra bugs than anticipated. We have changed this so that merged/split Hashlets are calculated but not paid out until the following round of payouts are run
Some customers are not receiving the total sale price amount when an item is sold on the Hash Market -In progress
Double Hash events aren’t being removed after they end -In progress
Intermittent issue concerning splitting and merging Hashlets on some user accounts -In progress but still unable to replicate consistent behavior
Some customers are reporting that they are not always able to initiate certain Amps at certain legitimate times -In progress

On top of these items, there are about 20+ other small backend issues that have been worked on and are currently being addressed.

A note and apology from the CTO:

I am truly sorry for the events that have led to such poor performance from our software release this past week as well as the past few weeks. This has been embarrassing for me personally and for my company. We have grown past the point of being able to push minimally tested software and you have my word that any software from this point forward will go through a normal QA process in the staging environment before being released into production (as it should).

One of the struggles here has been that we feel the pressure to release Prime Hashlet features as promised. We have been working hard to do so and will continue to make good on this promise. We also realize that in order to improve the trust and confidence that you as the customer has in our ability to provide a stable and secure platform, is of the utmost importance above anything else.

That said, the changes mentioned above may delay the rapid feature releases but I believe it is more important to be sure customers are taken care of by ensuring new features/upgrades get paid out correctly in order to preserve our company brand and integrity.

Thank you for your business and continued support during this challenge. I will update this post when we have more information on the remaining items (along with additional ones that appear during the week).

Can another hashlet owner confirm that they see my Clever hashlet in the market? It's 15 MHs and price is $189. I don't see it in the list.

Thanks!

Here is what I see:

OK, looks like they marked up my $189 by 5% and also charge me 5% on the sale. Got ya' comin' and goin'. Amazingly, it sold since my request.

Also, has anyone had any luck using the "split" feature? When I try it, it always says "unable to split at this time." Why do they show these features live if they don't work?

Split doesn't work. There are many half-baked (to put in a family-friendly way) features like that. Here is some insight on the subject:

https://hashtalk.org/topic/9085/zencloud-1-10-x-issues-and-bugs

tldr: they are starting to realize they need QA.

Ya think? That's kinda software 101, but hey, what do I know...only been doing it professionally for 20 years...

I purchased a prime hashlet, liked what I saw so I purchased 2 more, but when I go to the portal to put in the codes there is no spot to do so. Before adding the first code there was a + sign but now all I see is my current prime and no visible way to add another.

Look for a "Redeem Hashlet ZenHardware Code" link. I have one on Miners page, in the "Solo Hashlets" box.

I confirm this may be a scam as he's not using an official GAW email. Their employees are using @gaw.com or @btc.com

Really?

 Cheesy

Nice try bryan

Wonder what phone number that is as its not the GAW number?

Update the phone number he used isn't for GAW miners, its GAW internet services, which is Josh's first company I believe. Dude didn't even steal the right phone number for his fake add.
