I'd be up for a double chip existing compac. Be great to have a limited edition run. Put my name down for one please.

Electrical engineer. Mining since 2014.
I kind of supported you and bought one of these GekkoScience PSU kits in bitshopper.de that you told me about  Smiley

This is good for guys in EU area.

Fucking Bitfury seriously get your shit together and stop lying about serving the community of BTC and share your chip.

Centralization really sucks

That would be all

So, question.

How many folks would still want BM1384 Compacs, if I decided to run out another limited batch to help raise money?

How many folks would want a two-chip BM1384 Compac (much-improved low-end efficiency and hashrate), or say a small 4-chip that took a barrel jack and USB. These guys would still have the same base features of the existing Compac - manual voltage control, etc.

The point is, something that can develop quickly, build relatively cheaply, be something people might want and can raise money to put toward better things. A lot of people have chipped in donations, but wouldn't it be nice to buy something instead?

I'd love to buy several of new/improved Compacs.
Count me in.

I'd probably want to start with 5 or 6 upgrade kits for s1/s3. But could see myself getting a dozen.

Evil beware: We have waffles!
But it would be nice if they could get back to me about picking up another hundred or so samples, cash up front. The last reply I got from Punin was September 27th and I've only emailed three times since then with no responses yet. Might take a bit more badgering. Right now I can prototype one pod and two sticks; with another 100 ASICs and 15 comms I could prototype a TypeZero board, five more pods and another 7 sticks. That'd give me a lot of stuff to play with and some to send out for y'all to play with.
Agree 100%. BitFury has once again gotten a Golden Window of Opportunity here! They cannot afford to blow this with the Avalon horse (edit) almost but not quite in the gate yet. And now Avalon is out the gate but still far behind the stumbling Bitmain s9. Will BitFury make it a 3-horse race?

Between the two of you and the cores I already have, that's about 12K chips. Heck, we should really figure out a way to get Bitfury's attention since Punin hasn't responded to my last several inquiries.
Would be nice if they would provide chips in growing batches on-consignment with an extended pay-before-by-date, say 2-3 mo or whatever you work out with BitFury for time needed after chip delivery.

If they could start by sending you enough chips for say 10 or more full-up miners to use for proto/prove out and hopefully sell (I'd buy a working proto) it would be minimal exposure to them and one helluva show of good faith from BitFury.

After that, as you've seen, there IS a sizeable market out there wanting to be served.

hey that would work to he would sell a lot and make some profit but best of all he stays in business and second best we get what we want a very afford able usable miner that can be used in homes . I still don't get there reason behind not selling to homes . I mean i no there are some but i call them excuses. not that high priced miner bitmain passes off as a home miner, it may be but .'

I'm sure side would pay them ASAP he seems very honest about that kind of stuff . be nice if they would .
The only reasonable excuse I can think of is BitFury's supply of chips vs fulfilling prior demand for the chips destined as internal usage (for the mobile tanks they say they build/sell) and prior very-large external customer commitments.

IF they are actually producing chips in volume I'd think the back order for chips should be more than enough to keep their Foundry (TSMC) happy with BitFury's monthly order quan. Yes compared to that, Sidehack's chip consumption would be 'small' but still by no means insignificant to BitFury's bottom-line. Throw in the PR value -- Priceless.

It would be incredible if I could get chips on some kind of net-30 or thereabouts. Chips will easily be the largest single expense; for something like the Compac they'll likely be around half the total material cost but for pods and bigger it's more likely 80%.

I asked Punin a month ago what it would take to buy another 100 or so sample ASICs and more of the comm chips so I could build more than one working prototype of everything. I have enough on hand to make one pod and two sticks and that's it.

Yes, the big boards would fit right up to S1/S3/S5/C1 sinks. Likely it'll be a double-sided board with ASICs on the backside like the S5; since we'll be operating with three independent strings there'll be a buttload of distinct "rails" on the board so PCB cooling isn't really safe, which is why S5 and Avalon6 both did top coolers. Unlike at least one other S5 refit kit, I won't require you to have a working (or modified in whatever way) S5 controller; the boards will run on USB so you can tether 'em off a single controller of your own choosing, kinda like Avalons but not quite. And the PCIe jacks will be placed so S3 cases will still work.

or re drill holes to fit it i have done that with HS if it's possible .
Thought about that for the 2 long retied s2's I have...

edit: Oh, a rare tip-o-the Visor to Joshua Zipkin, now aka Joshua Alexander of AMT, for eventually providing that miner to me even if about 6-7mo late. It was 1 of literally a handful that got shipped and worked. Why it lasted so long -- it was built by the same company Innosilicon used for their miners but using A1 chips that Zipkin/AMT had in abundance from the failed (in order of those responsible) Bitmine.ch/AMT/IMET mess.

Detail of nice touch the sinks have:

The main fins have fins. That cheap (is an extrusion after all) touch raises the surface area to 3x a straight-sided fin has.

Side thought: 1st, you are talking about bolt-on boards (to s1/3 sinks) right?
If so, wonder how the boards would fit on s4 sinks?

heh heh, or perhaps strap them onto the heaksinks inside my rare A1 based AMT/Bitmine.ch 1.2THs rig

Finally retired it earlier this year when the s9's came out. It ran trouble-free 24x7x365 since about late Aug. 2014 but sucking in 1.5kw vs what the first s9's have for speed and less power -- had to do it.

I've got six S3s and a C1 that would love some new Gekko-ness. Wink  Short of that, I'll do what I can to add to my collection - pods, sticks, whatever.

I am in for about 2 k worth of something maybe 3k.

I think buysolar has multiple s-1's and s-3's laying around his house.  I sure we could mail some to you.

Could you not start a poll to at least get a rough idea of how many people would be ordering what quantity? So at least you can work out numbers of chips?

And if possible, how many folks would want these pre-built using your stock of of s1/3's as buffer while getting core exchanges from folks who have old ones to turn in for credit?

I'd be good for a modest 6-7 with the s3's I still have and can send as core exch.
