Hey, you're back. Or maybe you never left.

In the years since we last conversed, Bitcointalk has become increasingly more relevant from a crypto historian's point of view -- after all, it houses some epic threads for some revolutionary projects. I reference it rather regularly on Twitter these days for matters concerning old core devs positions on things, old altcoins, early bitcoin projects, and definitively settling matters on who said what or came up with an idea first.

Never left . Sometimes lurking - with the occasional post.
Bitcointalk is and always has been a huge source of
historical information. But currently working on making history rather than writing about it.

Wikipedia doesn't permit links to bitcointalk which makes referencing source material difficult.

Seriously?  Shocked
This would be the same as rejecting the Coca-Cola page as a reliable source of the history of Coca-Cola itself.

What do they claim, that they do not accept this?

I can even understand the fact that they don't accept the forum as a source for other topics. But, for the topic of the forum, nothing better than the information available on Bitcointalk itself.

I think I did a reasonable job in getting the history right and happy to correct any errors. I've tried to write it from a neutral unbiased viewpoint.

I was even thanked by the creator of Ordinals, who expressed his admiration of the forum's rich history, in what turned out to be his last post, lol:

Thank you nutildah! Getting such nice kudos on Bitcoin Talk is honestly a sweet milestone. These threads are feeling pretty legendary to me, especially the one I necro-posted to after a 10 year haitus.

The thread he is referencing was written by the first person to suggest a serialization system for every satoshi since the genesis block.

In any case, as the popularity of Bitcoin grows worldwide, so will interest in its early history, much of which is housed here.

I think it is time for the administration to provide some official information about the forum and correct some of the misinformation that individuals are dealing with.
I collected some information there.
Bitcointalk's important historic changes

One of my most wanted information is when Cyrus became one of forum admins. Hope that Cyrus will give us this information someday.

Also, this is accompanied by the tenth anniversary of the establishment of this forum, it is shameful that this date is not properly archived.

I wouldn't trust our wikipedia page if I were you
Ugh.  I didn't even know there was a wikipedia page for bitcointalk until just now.  It's horribly incomplete and poorly written as well.  Someone really needs to do some work on it, someone who knows the history and who know knows how to phrase things appropriately and not reference people or things which the average person may not know about.

After I wrote this thread about this forum I became enchanted by the history (hence my signature)

Ugh.  I didn't even know there was a wikipedia page for bitcointalk until just now.  It's horribly incomplete and poorly written as well.  Someone really needs to do some work on it, someone who knows the history and who know knows how to phrase things appropriately and not reference people or things which the average person may not know about.

I always have ideas but no motivation to do anything about them.  Wouldn't it be great if someone who had a scholarly inclination wrote a book about the history of the forum?  Bitcointalk certainly has an important place in the history (which is still being written) of bitcoin itself, and at the very least it would make for an entertaining read.  The forum and the way it's run kind of make it stand out among many other forums, and I think it would be great if someone put together a history of it.  It might not be an epic-length tome, but I think there's certainly enough material to write something of a decent length.

Anyway, it's a book I'd certainly buy.  Just like those trading cards with various bitcointalk personalities I keep hoping will get created.

It seems that you have to read a lot and often open, en.m.wikipedia.org
About the Bitcointalk Forum.

Early history until now about Bitcointalk.

Quote
Bitcointalk is a forum about bitcoin, initially created by Satoshi Nakamoto the inventor of Bitcoin on Nov 22, 2009 and was head administrator until almost 2011. Then Sirius was head administrator until 2012. The forum is owned and operated by "Theymos" since 2012.

Referency: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcointalk

Reading, knowledge is prioritized before doing something.
So for the future, read a lot, whether it's about Bitcointalk or something else.

I wouldn't trust our wikipedia page if I were you, theymos already said that our BCT article in their website is “terrible”. I have mentioned it in past threads already why our wikipedia's page on us sucks so I'll still say it now, its because they couldn't consider Bitcointalk posts within the forum as a “reliable source” that's why they cannot even take the word of theymos for it on saying who the owners are of the forum. Best to stay away from our wiki page until they accept BCT posts as a reliable source.
