When the mobile app is launched, a user will see the geopiece for their current location and any text or links the owner includes?
I'd also like to see G$ freely tradable between users. If I can't trade them, there's nothing to do with them besides buy more geopieces.

the mobile app will be exactly as you mentioned, it is also planned that you can trade your G$ in an exchange, or other things that will
be implemented in the future

a new startup with innovative ideas, first geopiece is for free

www.geopieces.com

Bitcoins will be integrated soon

This is not meant to diss you, if you're the one behind this, for I love this site, but...

According to the wayback machine, an effort was made a year or so ago to get this off the ground, but the site is much sleeker now.

I like everything about it but the name, for it's not as marketable as it could be, but everything about the site is, including the incorp. of Bitcoin aspect. Without putting a lot of thought into it, GeoGrid would be a better choice, albeit the .com is taken.

After putting a little thought into it, I considered the word fabric and arrived at GeoBric (available).

GeoPieces breaks one of the cardinal sins: too many syllables.

Another option could have been GeoVore of which võre is Estonian for grid.

Or GeoNexx.com is available (as in Nexus)

GeoGridz.com

Apologies for going on-and-on on the naming aspect, but it's an important ingredient in getting a promising site its proper footing.

I'm now the proud owner of the Horseshoe Casino in LV. Had to get two adjacent grids under two dif. acc., but you can now clearly see I own them.

They are currently for sale at the max price allowed, but will entertain a lesser value.

Some of the businesses located on the two grids:

Binion's Gambling Hall & Hotel
Mermaid's Casino
Golden Goose Gentlemen's Club
Granite Gaming Group
Girls of Glitter Gulch
G & G Fremont
Subway
Labayou Casino
Budget Las Vegas Downtown Rent-A-Car
Paradise Buffet & Cafe

The first official listing of a GeoPieces sale: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/binions-gambling-hall-hotel-in-lv-for-only-10m-usd-bargain-232334

Second listing:

Some bastard took the Taj Mahal from underneath me. This is fuckin' war!

On a serious note:

Has anybody considered using this site as a money laundering conduit? (not trying to be funny)

I have the US Capitol.

That ain't the capitol! You bought the National Library two blocks over.

Hmm, I got the grid two spaces in front of the location of the capitol which is where the street is. But not directly in the location.

Oops...maybe someone will sill give me 10k for it. Tongue

I was screwing with you, bud.

Somebody do the math and see what's the maximum # of land grids there are. (not sea)

57.5 million square miles of land on earth, thus...

57 X 64 =

~3,648,000,000 Grid Cap.

EDIT:

How the hell was I off by a factor of ten?

What’s your secret sauce?

We feel that we have a major technological advantage in the sector.
We divide the world into 33.5 Billion virtual properties on the world map, which can be bought, sold and traded and act like billboards on the map.

I figured each grid as one block equating to about an eighth of a mile, hence arriving at the multiplier of 64. One of us has the decimal in the wrong place.

Nevermind! Just figured it out prior to posting this. Their figure includes the oceans, thus mine is probably pretty damn close.
