The 29th matchday of the Bundesliga starts tonight. We can expect some exciting matches again:

Source: Google, Bundesliga, 29th matchday

I'm pretty excited to see whether FC Bayern can defend its lead in the Bundesliga against Mainz 05 on Saturday. In addition, Dortmund plays Frankfurt at home and on Sunday evening we will see a very close game (IMHO) when Bayer Leverkusen plays RB Leipzig. This one is all about the Champions League places.

As usual I placed some bets on various games. Let's see how it goes this weekend. What are your picks guys?

yesterday there were already rumors about this and today it has become reality.
vfb stuttgart has sacked its coach Bruno Labbadia. BL, who only took over the club in december, has unfortunately not managed the turnaround. his performance in the 11 bundesliga games - only 1 win
but the club also immediately presented a successor today. Sebastian Hoeneß (last on the bench at tsg hoffenheim) gets a contract in stuttgart until summer 2025

This weekend is the 26th matchday of the Bundesliga. And it's going to be massive. On Saturday we will see the top match FC Bayern vs. Borussia Dortmund. Pretty hyped!
Yes, the FC Bayern vs. Borussia Dortmund match is definitely a highlight of the weekend and it's really very difficult to say who will win. Actually, I almost always bet on FC Bayern, but in this match I don't bet on either team. I think FC Bayern will hopefully be highly motivated to win the game, but it will certainly be no different at Borussia Dortmund as both teams are fighting for first place in the table. Even if it's not a game I like to bet on, I almost think Dortmund will win. FC Bayern is very good, but also weakens here and there this season. So I'm very, very excited to see who's going to win or if we're going to see a maybe fair draw.  Tongue
It is clearly the main focus of the media highlighting the Bundesliga because the match between FC Bayern Munchen and Borussia Dortmund is a derby match which will show who deserves to be the leader of the standings after Bayern Munich were slipped last week by one point because Bayern Munich lost to Leverkusen with a score of 2 -1. And this match is to show Bayern Munich's first match under Thomas Tuchel, who has just replaced the previous coach, Negelsmann.
I also often bet on Bayern Munich, but it seems that right now I have doubts about Bayern Munich and I will bet on Dortmund.

I am already quite excited. Pretty likely, this will be the highlight of the season. First place against second and of course Thomas Tuchel against his old club. That sounds like a great football match with a lot of tension to me, haha.

What do you guys think? Dortmund or Bayern? Probably the decisive game of the season.

fifa has imposed a transfer ban on bundesliga club 1. fc köln for the next two transfer periods, which means for the entire 2023/24 season.

Uff, what a joke. Sucks, that small clubs like Köln will be punished, while other European clubs get a special treatment.

fifa has imposed a transfer ban on bundesliga club 1. fc köln for the next two transfer periods, which means for the entire 2023/24 season.
the reason for this is a new signing made by the club at the beginning of 2022. at that time, the talented slovenian striker Jaka Cuber had transferred from olimpija ljubljana to cologne's youth department. cologne is said to have incited the then 16-yo to breach his contract so that no transfer fee would flow to the club he had left.
the ban is now legally binding. the only chance cologne still has is to appeal to the cas. furthermore, JC has now been banned for the next 4 months and the bundesliga club has to pay a €54000 fine to ljubljana.

Good to see the positive and smiling of face of one the greatest modern day German football tactician again. The confidence that Thomas Tuchel brings to any team he's managing is another reason why he flourishes wherever he goes.

Yep, pretty likely and it looks like Thomas Tuchel is about to get some help from one of his former assistant coaches from Chelsea. The German Bild reports that FC Bayern is in contract talks with assistant coach Anthony Barry:

Bayern have made a compensation offer to take Anthony Barry, but it is understood to fall well short of Chelsea’s valuation. Barry will stay away from the training ground and Stamford Bridge while Chelsea haggle with Bayern over his future [@Matt_Law_DT]

Then let's hope that Tuchel gets his desired assistant coach as soon as possible. Anyway, pretty crazy that now already transfer fees need to be paid for assistant coaches, lol.

However, this is probably how the European football business works in 2023.  Shocked

It's official: Thomas Tuchel during his first training session with FC Bayern at Säbener Straße in Munich.

Uff, pretty excited tbh (especially as a big Bayern fan, haha). So far, the reactions to Tuchel seem to be very positive. If you read a little bit in the Bayern Forum (where usually many insiders post), the new coach also seems to be well accepted by the team.

And what do you guys think of the transfer? Will FC Bayern will now win the triple with its new coach?  Tongue

Bayern Munich's decision to sack Julian Nagelsmann who only lost three games this season and hired Tuchel must be one of the toughest decisions that the club management has taken and I know he would want to repay the bravery of the club's heirarchy decision with finishing the season on an excellent note. Winning the UEFA Champions League this season will be the ultimate and best way to pay back the club's bravery decision and with Tuchel's established records, who will say that he can't do it? No one I guess

yesterday late in the evening the bombshell burst in munich and the club sacked its coach Julian Nagelsmann. as his successor Thomas Tuchel is to sign a contract with bayern. and who knows TT, who is also a special character and has already had in the past as a coach also so his lapses...

Sorry for the late reply. Pretty sick development at FC Bayern.

I didn't expect them to sack Julian Nagelsmann that early. However, it's the right decision (IMHO). FC Bayern has lost 10 points to Dortmund since the winter break and you no longer had the feeling that Nagelsmann was making the team stronger. As a Bayern coach, it's not enough to get players to 95%. Rather, you are a moderator and coach at the same time. Perhaps Nagelsmann's time at Bayern simply came 10 years too early. He's still very young and you could tell that he had a hard time coaching the absolute top stars.

But maybe we'll see him as Bayern coach again in a few years. It's not like other great coaches haven't had a second chance at Bayern (Heynckes or Hitzfeld for example).

And yes to Thomas Tuchel there is not much to say: Absolute world class coach who will make Bayern even better. I think with him we may even expect (bigger) chances in the Champions League.

As usual, I'm betting on FC Bayern again this weekend and of course I hope they're successful again. This weekend they play against Bayer Leverkusen, who are currently ranked 9th in the Bundesliga. So please keep your fingers crossed that FC Bayern wins and so does my bet. Has anyone else bet on FC Bayern this weekend?  Smiley

Transfermarket just announced the most valuable football team in the world. It contains four Bundesliga players:

Jamal Musiala €100m (FC Bayern)
Matthijs de Ligt (FC Bayern)
Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund)
Joško Gvardiol (RB Leipzig)

A very good cut for the Bundesliga, IMHO. Of course, Mbappe and Haaland lead the ranking in terms of market value, but the Bundesliga still doesn't have to fear other European leagues.

Borussia Dortmund dropping points for the first time in 2023 leaves FC Bayern at the first place of the Bundesliga table with 52 points. Looks pretty good as a Bayern fan, haha.

Of course, it is a little unexpected that Borussia Dortmund did not manage more than a 2-2 draw against Schalke 04 in the 100th Revierderby. At least I had expected a pretty clear victory for Dortmund. Let's hope that Dortmund doesn't lose any more points in the next few games and that the Bundesliga remains exciting. Currently, the gap between Bayern and Dortmund is "only" 2 points.

bayern münchen, on the other hand, can look forward to keeping cameroonian striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting for another year - he has extended his contract by a further year.

As a Bayern fan I am pretty happy about this. Despite his age, Choupo shows outstanding performances every weekend. I just hope that due to his age (33 years) he can keep the strong form in the next season. Otherwise, I can imagine that the topic of "new striker" can once again become interesting for FC Bayern. According to rumors, they are still interested in signing Harry Kane. But that's a completely different caliber economically, of course, and that's why I'm glad that Bayern currently doing well with the cheaper Choupo-Moting option.

This weekend is the 24th matchday and we can look forward to the following matches:

but as you go into the game analysis, rb leipzig deserved at least a draw and if not maybe an away win. -snip-
Yes, Leipzig would have deserved a draw, but somehow it didn't work out. Even if they played well, they couldn't prevail against BVB.  Undecided

Congrats for winning your bet (and my bet as well  Tongue) because Bayern has won!  Wink
So yes, Bayern has won, but not really convincingly when Stuttgart almost achieved a draw because after Stuttgart scored for 1-2 very late, Bayern has been under big pressure during additional time.
Thank you! I guess we were both lucky with our bets. So congratulations to you too. Yes, Bayern won, but they weren't convincing, in my opinion. I would have expected a sovereign victory against Stuttgart. But I don't want to complain, at least they won.  Cheesy

Back to normal for Dortmund on second position in the table but it's still close.
Unfortunately, Union only got one point at home against Köln, where a lot of wasted chances (also for Köln) made it 0-0.
With BVB in 2nd place, it remains at least exciting. That somehow makes it more interesting than knowing beforehand that FC Bayern will be the winner of the session.  Smiley

And also a sad day for Bochum, losing 0-2 against Schalke 04 at home.  Cry
Schalke 04 has now won 2 games in a row against direct competitors Stuttgart and Bochum, which means 6 points for Schalke's relegation battle while their competitors got 0 points.

with a total of 17 shots on goal rbl had twice as many as dortmund. the possession of 62% was for an away team that played in dortmund on world class level and also in other important aspects leipzig was better than dortmund...
nevertheless, these kind of victories show how currently bvb reacts to supposedly stronger teams and is also drifting due to the current wave of success (of now 8 wins in a row)

It will be crucial when Dortmund is facing Leipzig Friday evening. Dortmund didn't show an impressive performance against Hoffenheim, a very weak team currently.
Leipzig will be a much stronger opponent.
Maybe it's because Adeyemi is injured, but Dortmund has a very good quality in general. Especially Brandt and Bellingham have been strong recently.
BVB was able to hold its own against RB Leipzig last night and won 2-1. Marco Reus and Emre Can were the scorers and thus led to victory. This means that BVB is the leader for the time being, but that can change again today if FC Bayern plays successfully against Stuttgart, as they have the better goal difference. Since I bet on FC Bayern, I'll of course keep my fingers crossed for them.  Wink

vfl wolfsburg and bayern münchen have announced two contract extensions. at wolfsburg, dutch defender Micky van de Ven has extended his contract until the summer of 2027. the new contract has no exit clause and will therefore bring vfl wolfsburg a lot of money when they sell the player.
bayern münchen, on the other hand, can look forward to keeping cameroonian striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting for another year - he has extended his contract by a further year.
