I do not think anyone expected the progress so far. After Xabi Alonso started at Leverkusen, they were at place 17 in the table. At the end of that season they were at place 6 and that was already a great achievement. This season, however, they have shown right from the start that they want and can do more. Xabi and the whole team have done a really great job. But they are still hungry for much more.

i am absolutely sure that leverkusen will win the dfb cup and maybe win the third cup this year. the final in berlin will take place on 25 may.
but on 22 may there is also the final of the europa league in the Dublin Arena in the Republic of Ireland. maybe leverkusen can still win both cups.

Well, it was the expected dominance they have shown all season..
For some reason I thought there might be a tiny chance for DD but this was out of the window real quick.

So not only can they now win their first German championship but also the first "double". Those 2 are pretty much set in stone I would say.
Actually I just remembered they are also still in the Europa league, haha. So the triple is still in play, wow. Facing West Ham in the quarter finals seems more than doable as well.

Hopefully this team for the most part stays together, Alonso stating he will stay is already a first big step towards that.

Leverkusen are the favorite in this match and also in the final. Unless something unforeseen happens, they will end the season with two titles. I am curious to see how Düsseldorf will play and whether they will be a difficult opponent. Congratulations to Kaiserslautern and Congratulations to Saarbrücken. Due to two mistakes from Saarbrücken in the second half Kaiserslautern scored two goals. Saarbrücken were more active in the first half and they also defended very well. Kaiserslautern had very few chances. Well normally I would be for Saarbrücken since I am always siding with the "underdog" but since my father in law is a big time Kaiserslautern supporter that's where my hope will go, haha.
Saarbrücken had an amazing run, kicking out 1. devision teams back to back to back is already a big accomplishment, but Bayern Munich being one of these teams is even more amazing.

I guess we all expect the other match to show Leverkusen as the winner. If they can manage this they will not only be German league champions for the very first time but also winning the double. Who would have expected this before the season started.

But hey, it's the cup, there is always a big surprise around the corner. Why not Leverkusen losing the semi final or even the final?
Sure it would be a huge surprise and somewhat of a disappointment for Leverkusen if that would happen but the win of the championship is the far bigger success!

Great game from Saarbrücken. They did not give up and the rain brought them luck. Unfortunately, it was not a great game to watch because of the rain. The ball sudenly stopped very often on the water and it cost the players a lot of energy. Kaiserslautern must be careful in the semi-final. Saarbrücken have built up more and more confidence and maybe they will even make it to the final.
