It is difficult to maintain consistency like last season and I don't see Leverkusen's ability this season having the same chance as last season. Xabi Alonso performed well last season with Leverkusen and he managed to break Bayern Munich's dominance in the Bundesliga but they failed to achieve the final result in the Europa League because they lost to Atalanta in the final match. Now if we talk about the Champions League, it is very difficult and the new system that is implemented may be different from before so that Leverkusen's chances of performing better in the competition are much smaller because the competition there is much tougher compared to the Bundesliga and the European league.

Bayer Leverkusen are nowhere to be found this season, although they're in the competitive title race but finding them to be ranked 4th position is concerning for everyone. They did great last season, winning the Bundesliga title with an unbeaten record, we consider that to be a brave one for the club but what happen this new season? Things changed and Xabi Alonso working for a change. On the records, Bayern Munich are back in shape and winning the Bundesliga title this season wouldn't be a problem on their ends. Vincent Kompany ensured his team are in good position to withstand any solid oppositions this season. They're all in for other priorities, talking about top goals like winning the UEFA Champions League title, how does it sounds? Magnificent right? The Bavarians are working entirely to secure golden chance towards winning top trophies this season.

I think Alonso have great potential to become a great coach in the future, last season Alonso managed to bring Leverkusen to be championship in the Bundesliga no one even thought before if they could win the league undefeated, their journey in the Europa League is also very impressive although in the end they has to run aground in the final after being defeated by Atalanta,  this season Leverkusen journey in the Bundesliga is not as consistent as last season, but even so they are still able to become a team that is in the bigfour zone today, although Leverkusen is still struggling to overcome the challenges that exist in the Champions League, but I think alonso will be able to overcome each of those challenges although maybe their journey does not reach to the final.

Bayer Munich's chances of being able to win the Bundesliga trophy again are indeed very large this season after everyone saw Bayern Munich's performance at the beginning of this season. So it makes sense that some people think that Leverkusen will not be able to defend their title again this season because Leverkusen's performance itself is also very different from last season. But that doesn't mean that Leverkusen can't keep rising because there is still enough time so that Leverkusen can try every week to get a win in order to be in a much better ranking.

It seems that week that Aston Villa won Bayern Munic was designed for the big teams to lose their matches because it was not only Bayern Munic that lost but other big teams including Barcelona losing to Monaco. So we can pardon Vincent Kompany and his boys because they are still in the competition and not out. At their local league they are doing extremely well and are even the favorite to win the league. If they continue in the current form and ensure they maximize every opportunity they have, the league will certainly be theirs.

Bayern Munich haven't played bad this season even in games that they lost, they have just been very unlucky while other times they get too lucky and score lots of goals. For the both games that they lost against Aston villa and Barcelona in the champions league, I think what happened was that Vincent Kompany underrated the both clubs. He thought he could win Aston villa easily and didn't think properly for the match while Barcelona use to be their regular victim but that day Barcelona played better and were in top form. Bayern Munich will be winning the league this year as not many teams are showing strength in competing for the title.

For me it's not something strange and it makes sense. Now we see again how Xabi can bring Leverkusen to control the bundesliga last season and with that achievement Xabi has ambitions to pursue the title at UEL and has been failed by Atalanta. After that Xabi might have the ambition to try to pursue the UCL title (though impossible) but Xabi only tried his best.
The Leverkusen coach only tries to get luck on the new system at UCL which provides an opportunity for other teams to try to pursue the title and Xabi only has the confidence to appear consistent at UCL even though the appearance in the bundesliga becomes a little bad.

Leverkusen never had UCL as their main target in the Champion League. They were only aiming to play regularly in UCL to get money. I never heard if their coach, Xabi Alonso, showed ambition to take UCL as their target. It has been so long since the last time they played at UCL.

They don't have big ambition to compete for the trophy. It's weird when you guys were talking they were intending to win UCL title.

It seems that Xabi Alonso still has to play a more extra role in the current season because now there are many other teams that have found their best tactics so that it has made it more difficult for Leverkusen to compete at the top of the Bundesliga. And it seems that Xabi Alonso has to think hard so that he can join in the transfer market in January in order to get some players who can boost Leverkusen's performance for the rest of this season so that Leverkusen can rise again even though not to win the trophy in the Bundesliga this season because that is indeed difficult for him to achieve this season.

Munich is gradually becoming dominant again in the bundesliga as they have always been except for recently when Leverkusen had a chance and won the title. I doubt if Munich will be able to stay unbeaten this season as the competition in the bundesliga is getting really tough this season unlike previous season where they had to enjoy dominance much enough as away from Leverkusen they have got others too trying to be top contenders through Munich still tops ahead with a whole lot of points. Leipzig and Frankfurt is gradually even looking like they will do even better than Leverkusen to me in the bundesliga this season.

We all have high hopes for them to repeat same performance as last season but eventually things seem little different from last season and now it seems they will be going back to being the average German team they have always been. They did exceptionally well last season but they should’ve added more players to strengthen their squad more because even bigger teams keep signing players to maintain their performance so that’s what i think is affecting them at the moment. And also as you said every team have tightened their belts more and so Alonso needs to do more because he currently at top 4 but far away from the league leaders with 9 points away which means it would be difficult to compete for the title now.

They just need to focus on Top 4 and making it to the champions league next season.

It is undeniable that as a striker, Kane is a reliable goal scorer. However, this is not just about one person, but about a team. So, if Bayern Munich wants to come out as the winner at the end of this season, then Bayern Munich must continue to maintain the consistency of their teamwork well. Because, even though Bayern Munich is quite dominant this season and has a great chance of winning, but the season is still long, anything can still happen.


This season their focus is divided, because besides having to face matches in the domestic league, they also have to fight in the UCL, after they competed in the UCL they performed poorly when they returned to face teams in the domestic league, they had to be satisfied with a draw in a match that they should have won.

It is difficult for Leverkusen to catch up with Munich's points. Currently, Munich is the only team that is unbeaten in the Bundesliga in 10 matches. It would be extraordinary if Munich finished this season without a defeat like Leverkusen did last season. I am sure that such an achievement will make Munich lead the standings with a fairly large point difference. Currently, the closest are Leipzig and Frankfurt, but I am not sure they can maintain their performance to continue competing with Munich.

I have said before, maintaining the record achieved last season is much harder than achieving it. This season it is proven, Leverkusen is starting to have difficulty competing to defend the title because of its declining performance. Judging from the current standings and the consistency of performance in each match, Bayern Munich is the team that is most favored to win the title this season. Xabi Alonso is starting to struggle to get his team back to their best form, now they are dropping points more often which has left them stuck in 4th position and 9 points behind Bayern Munich.

At the beginning of this season it was already clear that Leverkusen was not like last season anymore so of course their percentage to be able to defend the title was very small.
What happened last season was a surprise for the Leverkusen team without being able to repeat it or defend it.
And if seen as a whole of course Bayern is much stronger this season after making many changes to cover this season making this team stronger and if this can continue to be maintained then it is very likely that they will be able to win the Bundesliga title again.

They had players who wanted to leave but the club tried so hard to commit them to play for one more season, Jonathan Tah was one of these names who wanted to leave to clubs like Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Let's say they can stay in the top four all throughout the season but winning the Bundesliga is not something I see them doing. It could finally be that season for Harry Kane to win silverwares and a trophy in his career.  Xabi Alonso has also been linked to leave for Real Madrid.

IMO, I have a different view, I don't see Bayer playing badly when they met Barcelona in the Champions League. In that match Barca played well as well as Munich, but unfortunately Flick is much more experienced and knows very well how to handle Bayern Munich so that Barcelona can beat them. which we can interpret, Bayern Munich lost tactically to Barcelona. talking about Bayern Munich's matches in the Champions League, especially in the two matches with defeats, the real obstacle is that sometimes Munich has difficulty creating every opportunity to score goals. In the match against Aston Villa, Vincent Kompany's team had many opportunities, but none of them were converted into goals. apart from their two defeats, Bayern Munich actually still has a chance to qualify for the next round. on condition that they win the remaining matches. by the way, I doubt that a club as big as Bayern Munich will choose to focus more on the Bundesliga. because, they still have a chance to enter the next round. but let's assume that Bayern only focuses on the Bundesliga, if that is the case, then Kompany's work will not be too burdened. In addition, Bayern Munich does not have a tight schedule and they can focus only on the Bundesliga or even the DFB Fokal competition as well. Well, as we know, Bayern Munich is currently leading the table even though the points difference is not too obvious. My guess is that they will likely remain leading the Bundesliga table for quite a long time.

I think there is no club that does not target the title in the Champions League, all clubs that fight in this tournament definitely want it, only their chances of getting it are quite small because the competition in the UCL is very difficult. Leverkusen may not get the UCL title because their experience is not that much there, but no matter how difficult it is, Leverkusen will try until the last drop of blood to be at a good level, whether until the quarter-finals or semifinals and for the Bundesliga they will try to finish in the top 4.

You are correct Bayer Leverkusen winning Champions League is unlikely now. More realistic goal is finishing top four in their league which would get them back into Champions League next season. With focusing on their league and gaining experience Leverkusen can strengthen their team and improve their tactics in Europe. Finishing top four and returning to the Champions League with experience is smart goal for Leverkusen. This will help them grow and possibly do better in competition next time.

The champions League is never a target for Bayer Leverkusen, rather just trying to gather the best experience that can get should be the best Leverkusen can think of really doing at this point because they see that their performance isn't up to the level that will get them a decent finish at the champions League so obviously the trophy is very far away from them but what I know they can do would be trying to finish top four in their domestic league and having another attempt att he champions League that time they will be returning with experience.
