Even on high ranks we still get a joyful feeling when we received merits. It does means that we are beinf helpful or someone must have like the response or topic that being shared. Receiving merits are one of the best feeling when you are here in forum and I understand what you means since you have a goal to rank by means of merits. It will eventually come anyway, just be motivated always and do your best to contribute in this forum.

Although I don't look too much on my merit count, whenever I accidentally notice changes in my merit count, it feels like an interaction already even if I don't get reply/ies in my post.

It's nice to somehow meet an internet stranger sometimes. Cheesy

Even being a Legendary, I like it when I receive merit(s). It shows that you have contributed something which others appreciate. That's what the main goal of this forum is.
Make your contribution and let community decide if it's good or not. If it is, they will show their support with merit(s). A newbie getting merit is a sign of progress on his/her understanding of this forum.
Reminds me when I get an upvote in a 4 year old comment I made in Reddit. Cheesy

Motivation must be supported by increasing insight in order to produce quality posts, Newbies must feel how difficult it is to get merit, but all of these are just wrong assumptions in my opinion. Motivation needs to be fired with high willpower, you must try to increase your rank in a way that is commonly used by other senior members.
Nothing prevents anyone from increasing account rank, sooner or later you will get a high rank as long as you continue to add insight by reading useful information on forums and outside forums to improve posting quality.

This may seem trivial to those who already rank high in the forums. but it really means a lot to beginners. Gaining Some Merits actually can revive dormant Motivation. But still I also realize that just motivation is not enough. but also must be accompanied by an increase in insight. with more diligent reading and so on.
Other beginners must also feel this way, right? I doubt if only I feel this pleasure.
Nothing seems trivial in any way in this forum mate, although others may see it as trivial in their own judgement. But I personally never take it as a trivial thing because everyone needs effort to achieve what they want, and that effort is how you try to add insight and apply it where you can apply it because motivation is built through the desire of everyone who wants to be better. So I consider nothing seemingly trivial in terms of merit.

Receiving praise or even views and comments after each post is actually very encouraging and shows me that the time I spent researching and developing that particular topic or project was worthwhile. It also helps to dispel any unclear or perplexing doubts and questions. However, I don't think it is necessary for every post to be praised with merits, views, or comments because it may also serve as a way of knowing and learning some crucial things about that specific topic or project. As a result, I will firmly advise all beginners to post constantly and do more research rather than to become disheartened by a lack of views, comments, or merit.

Its just like working for money and you are being paid for the work done and then you are being told the more you work the more the payment and without working there won’t be any payment, you will be motivated to work hard everyday so you can earn more money. Earning your first merits can be a huge motivation the feeling is actually pleasing and you wouldn’t want the feeling to stop. I was merited with my first post though when I joined this forum I wanted to understand bitcoin technically, i was not after the merits i just tried to engage myself in discussions and ask questions about things i wanted to learn more about and I noticed there is a special feeling when you receive merits.
Ranking up maybe challenging but merit hunting shouldn’t be your purpose on the forum, just try and make reasonable contributions to the forum and the merits will flow in naturally when someone admires your post or contributions.

Definitely they do, everyone feels this sense of pride and honor whenever they feel they have done a thing or two and people acknowledges them, this gets them going and that is what the merit is for.
One advice I would be giving is do not get carried away in trying to get them but learn and create a purpose why you are here and allow them to come through by themselves. But once you are obsessed on getting them it leads you to making mistakes and if they don’t come you get frustrated and lose interest in the forum.

Absolutely! I completely understand your perspective. Gaining merits may seem insignificant to experienced forum members, but for beginners like us, it revitalizes our motivation. However, motivation alone is insufficient; we must actively enhance our knowledge through diligent reading and continuous learning. It's reassuring to know that other beginners share this sentiment too.

Well, it's always nice to get merits but it was in my case, and I think in most people's case, it was more motivating at the beginning, when I was in the lower ranks. Now that I'm at the highest rank that can be reached, it's always nice to see that you've been given merits but the feeling is more monotonous, more routine.

By the way, what you should start doing is to send merits yourself, I see you haven't sent any.

that means you have the motivation to get a better rank. stay on your path, and soon you too rank up.
you know what you have to do, and don't get complacent. You can also continue to help this Merit system run well by distributing your sMerit. there's no point in you keeping it.
keep it up. maybe in the future, you will feel very bored. but hopefully, you can still be in the forum.
