Ghost Development Update & 2024 Outlook

For our 2024 outlook we have a few scheduled hardforks coming. First of these series of hardforks is an update to the max supply figure, given the pre-mine that was not taken into account with the original developers. That being said, this will cap off the total amount of GHOST created at 55MM coins, with only 0.90 GHOST being produced every block once this maximum is reached. So overall, we are decreasing the block reward by 25%. This will revise the current reward distribution as follows:

Block reward: 8.100
Staker reward: 3.726
AGVR reward: 2.673
Dev Fund: 1.701

The second in the series is an overall update to the chain itself. This includes faster sync times, improvements to AGVR, upstream to match Bitcore 25x, Taproot, and other various improvements. As you'll notice, there are also further functional tests and additional support for the logic behind the On-Chain governance architecture. Another huge step towards decentralization. Much much more to come about this second update.

Lastly, as the aforementioned have taken priority over other deliverables, it also lays the groundwork for certain protocols to finally be re-implmented and or improved upon, namely, Dandelion++. Once Dandelion++ is re-implemented into Ghost-Core, we can discuss raising the maximum ring size and as a result, improving Bulletproofs. We hope to share some of our research supporting this decision soon. Again, the key here is to optimize transaction verification times while aslo ennhancing privacy protections. We call this Smart Scaling.

We hope you are all just as excited for these updates as we are! Please stay tuned for more inforamtion.

GSTVPN Announces the Launch of Shadowsocks Network

We are excited to introduce the initial deployment of our Shadowsocks network at GSTVPN. Shadowsocks, a fast tunneling proxy, empowers users to overcome firewalls and enjoy unrestricted access to the internet.

In an era where private and unimpeded internet access is crucial, VPNs play a pivotal role. They provide freedom from content restrictions imposed by geographical or political borders, ensuring an internet experience that is free from censorship and protected from prying eyes.

However, some governments, ISPs, and organizations attempt to hinder access to VPNs, recognizing their efficacy in safeguarding user privacy. This has led to disruptions and, in some cases, outright blocking of VPN protocols in certain countries or regions.

Enter Shadowsocks, born out of necessity to combat internet censorship in China. Utilizing state-of-the-art ChaCha20-Poly1305 encryption, Shadowsocks ensures both high security and performance. Similar to SSH in its protocol, Shadowsocks excels in circumventing blocks more effectively than other protocols.

Initially, our Shadowsocks service is available in four locations: Dusseldorf, Germany; London, Great Britain; Palermo, Italy; and Kansas City, US. Stay tuned for more locations to come!

Connect with Shadowsocks and break free from censorship – because when you're connected to a VPN, there's nothing they can control or monitor. Enjoy a private and unrestricted online experience with GSTVPN's Shadowsocks network!

Wrapped Ghost on Polygon is now live!

$WGHOST
Contract Address: 0xb5e0CFe1B4dB501aC003B740665bf43192cC7853

This historic event brings a new chapter in our ecosystem’s history. New opportunities have now been opened, in addition to the uncountable amount of liquidity available and endless DeFi possibilities.

For Polygon, this is also huge news as there is not a whole lot of privacy focused projects on their platform. This is where Ghost has a sort of “First-Mover-Advantage.” With Polygon’s recent launch of their zk-EVM and the privacy protocols found in Ghost, transacting privately and across chains has never been better.

With the launch of Wrapped Ghost, ticker symbol $WGHOST, this marks the completion of Phase 1 of 2 and brings us ever so close to launching our decentralized two-way bridge. For now though, users wanting to bridge their Main Net $GHOST assets over to Polygon for $WGHOST, can head over to nonkyc.io for the transfer. Every $WGHOST token has an exact 1:1 collateralized Main Net $GHOST counterpart. Below are some quick details about $WGHOST:

Initial liquidity launch: 100,000 $WGHOST

Initial Liquidity Pool: Uniswap $MATIC/$WGHOST

Contract Address: 0xb5e0CFe1B4dB501aC003B740665bf43192cC7853

How to bridge: Head over to nonkyc.io and deposit your MainNet $GHOST into your wallet. Make sure you also have some $MATIC in your wallet for the withdrawal fee, there are no bridge fees. When you withdraw, it will prompt you to select which network. Select Wrapped Ghost as your option to withdraw and fill in the boxes with your Polygon address and amount to be withdrawn. Once finished, you can click “Make Withdraw.” Now you have successfully bridged $GHOST over to the Polygon Network!

Phase 2 of 2 will include the launch of our decentralized two-way bridge as mentioned earlier. When this bridge goes live we will upgrade the current wrapped ghost smart contract which will include some new features making it a better overall token. While we are closing in on Phase 2, final testing is being done on various aspects of the bridge such as the oracle and among other parameters. We will keep the community informed about our progress as this develops.

In the meantime, please enjoy using $WGhost on Polygon and explore all of the fun DeFi possibilities now available to you. This infinitely expands the Ghost ecosystem and is a great addition to the space as a whole.

Ghost Development Update (First Half of 2023)

With the first six months behind us, we have maintained our focused on executing roadmap deliverables and also pushed out a few maintenance updates along the way. Inside this update we will be discussing our progress on the Polygon Bridge, Core maintenance, On-Chain Governance, Community events, and other noteworthy developments.

Polygon Bridge

Earlier in the year, after our developers completed their research on how the smart contract mechanism would interact with the two blockchains (Ghost & Polygon), our developers published the basic contract interface. This is a set of predefined functions and specifications the bridge must adhere to in order to interact with other contracts or applications within the two blockchain’s environments. This interface specifies the function names, arguments, and return values among other parameters.

Continuing the development, the next step was to develop the data structures and controller contracts. The controller contracts will serve as intermediaries between user interactions and the underlying smart contract, coordinating actions and managing data flow. The data structure serves as an organizer and is used to store data in a way that facilitates efficient access, necessary manipulation & retrieval of data.

Moreover, development on the actual smart contract itself continued as the burn and mint functions were implemented. For a two-way bridge to be interoperable, there has to be a way for users to both, be able to mint the wrapped coins, and burn them when they want to move back to the main chain. This is a very important area of the bridge as these functions naturally manipulate the tokenomics of the wrapped coin. In order to protect the bridge, logic statements and functional tests have been incorporated into the burn/mint mechanism. In simple terms, this protects the blockchain from bad actors artificially inflating the supply.

Going back to data retrieval for a second, its important to understand how the bridge will gain access to certain data that it normally does not have access to, due to the blockchain’s isolated and deterministic environment. This is solved by adding an oracle. The role of the oracle is to provide trustless data to the smart contract itself. This bridges the gap between the two blockchains, as Polygon normally would not have access to Ghost’s blockchain data, i.e., tokenomics and conversion rates included.

At current press time, our developers are nearing the final testing phase for the polygon bridge. A testnet has been deployed and has been proven successful already. This is far from a final checkoff, but still a very exciting and huge accomplishment nonetheless. We will keep you updated as we get closer to production.

Core Maintenance

During testing of our upcoming on-chain governance model, one of our cryptographers noticed block 754789 experienced an issue where the block contained data with coins being sent to OP_RETURN, which then caused the AGVR protocol to reject this specific type of output. A hotfix was deployed only hours later and the blockchain resumed normal operations. To read more about this, click this link.
https://medium.com/@ghostbymcafee/emergency-hardfork-b87d1e601110

With the OP_RETURN bug resolved, we took a look at our core and decided to push out some maintenance updates to improve overall efficiency. Some of these maintenance items include improving sync times with the blockchain. Specifically, with the AGVR protocol, there are times where users can experience longer than usual sync times due to the nature of the protocol.

In addition, with Bitcoin’s latest releases, we decided to match our codebase to be up to date with the latest upstream. This will include adding Taproot to the codebase, but not fully implemented. There still has to be some changes made to make Taproot compatible for Ghost’s code, explicitly speaking, how Taproot will interoperate with RingCT and Bulletproofs.

On-Chain Governance

With the aforementioned core maintenance, we are also working on getting on-chain governance into production ASAP. This is a long awaited feature that every decentralized project should have. We completed our research on how this governance model will work last year, but are just now able to develop it due to other deliverables taking priority. The framework for this model is available on our GitHub now. We are actively in testing phase, so final tweaks are being made to ensure that the voting mechanism is trustless.

More on this, earlier in the year functional tests and logical statements were included to ensure RingCT will seamlessly work with on-chain governance since both of these protocols work at the consensus level.

Community Events and Updates

On June 22nd, Ghost turned 3 years old! We celebrated with another successful baking competition and enjoyed seeing the delicious creations our community baked. The winners of this year’s baking contest are below.

Following our 3rd birthday, as per our consensus, Ghost observed its 2nd block reward reduction at block height 788400. The current total block subsidy is now 10.8 $GHOST, down form 11.4 $GHOST. The current reward distribution is now as follows, 5.400 $GHOST for Veterans, 3.672 $GHOST for the Miner, and 1.728 $GHOST for the Development Fund.

If you haven't already downloaded SHELTR, our mobile wallet, we highly recommend you do so. SHELTR is not just any mobile wallet, it’s a PWA (Progressive Web Application). PWAs are known for their awesome features that make them feel like native apps, and SHELTR is no exception. It has a seamless and smooth user interface that makes it easy to use for everyone. You can read all about SHELTR here.

Be sure you stay tuned for more updates regarding our development of the Polygon bridge. We are excited to share with the world this ground breaking deliverable.

BTW this coin is no longer being traded

It's for sale. And development continues. McAfee is the founder, and the leadership is now in the community that once picked up and has not given up on the idea of the perfect privacy coin.

What you wrote about McAfee is not a problem with the project, but with people who tend to cultivate personalities and worship them like in cults. It's probably used somewhere when you need to mention McAfee as a founder or for marketing purposes.

For whatever reason I remembered this thread and just read through it all from beginning to end. I never liked McAfee -- of course his passing was sad -- but it is disturbing to see the continuance of idolization of him on Crypto Twitter. He was a narcissistic, pathologically-lying con artist. He never contributed anything of substance to the crypto world other than entertainment. I suppose that is enough for some.

What I learned over the last year or so is that a lot of crypto traders celebrate influencers' manipulative skills, along with their ability to lie with a straight face. These are not "virtues" that should be championed, yet they are. Similar to how a lot of douchebags think Jordan "Wolf of Wall Street" Belfort and Martin "Pharma Bro" Shkreli are cool. I dunno how such people see themselves as protagonists in their own life story. They think, "since these guys are scumbags and being celebrated, its OK if I'm a scumbag too." Which is incorrect. Nobody should aspire to be a scumbag, regardless of they potential payday involved.

BTW this coin is no longer being traded, although it is still producing new blocks, somewhat interestingly.

Ghost Development Update (October 2022)

For Q3, our developers continued to push out a number of developments and exceed milestones, with one deliverable that’s for the history books.

Automated Ghost Veteran Rewards

Our developers worked over time on this deliverable and pushed it to production on Saturday, October 1st at block height 591621. This protocol entered the history books for Ghost as the blockchain becomes even more decentralized. The AGVR protocol introduces GVR rewards on a per block basis given stake weight and AGVR eligibility. No other blockchain has this similar structure in place.

Currently, at press time, there are 102 AGVR eligible Veterans that will soon observe AGVR blocks in their wallet. These Veterans are currently waiting out their time lock of 21600 blocks as described in the AGVR update posted here. After block height 613221 Veterans will begin to see the first AGVR blocks being produced.

We observed a brief bug after the initial hard fork that was related to anon inputs/outputs. Within hours our dev team deployed the hotfix and released the current core version, 0.22.1.0. There were no errors found upon the basis of the protocol tracking GVR transactions, so users and the blockchain remained unaffected. This protocol is compatible in all formats of the Ghost Wallet including GhostVault. Furthermore, users who are cold staking can still enjoy the benefits of this protocol as the rewards are paid directly to the staker and not the pool.

Ghost Electrum

In the background while AGVR was approaching the final stages of development, our developers were also working on a new lightweight wallet for both desktop and mobile use! Shortly after the launch of AGVR, we proudly introduced Ghost Electrum. This new lightweight wallet can be downloaded directly from the Google Play store here. And for those that do not have access to the Google Play store, the APKs can be downloaded here. This is Ghost’s first official mobile wallet developed as an app for your Android device. For Apple users, iOS versions of Ghost Electrum will came later, but again, Apple users on macOS can download the APKs just fine.

The Ghost-Electrum wallet is not a full node like the Ghost Desktop or Ghost QT wallet. It is a lightweight wallet that features greater coin control and accessibility. This new wallet will help pave the way for Ghost to be implemented with hardware wallets like Trezor and Ledger. Because Ghost-Electrum is not a full node, sync times are as low as 2 minutes. This is achieved through servers indexing the block headers.

Speaking of servers, there are zero downtimes because Ghost Electrum servers are decentralized and robust. Your wallet is never down. Another advantage of using Ghost Electrum is the near instant transaction time since block headers are indexed, unlike a full Ghost node. As mentioned above, this lightweight wallet now makes it possible for Ghost to be used on hardware wallets. In the meantime, users are still able to utilize Ghost-Electrum as cold storage. Your private keys are encrypted and never leave your computer. If your device goes offline, you still have access to your funds via recovery seed. It should be noted that the seed phrases on Ghost Electrum are different from that of the Ghost Desktop wallet.

Moreover on security, Ghost Electrum features 256-bit addresses just like the Desktop and QT wallet. This is not common in other lightweight wallets as 256-bit encryption can become complex due to the cryptography. These addresses use the most secure encryption currently available. Not even Bitcoin uses 256-bit addresses. Fore more on Ghost Electrum, please read our announcement here: https://ghostbymcafee.medium.com/ghost-electrum-44a39c6fdfa8

Hardware Wallets

With the launch of Ghost Electrum, implementing Ghost onto popular hardware wallets as described earlier will make this all the more possible. In the past we have researched the different requirements each hardware wallet has. We have developed the foundation for this and are now moving forward with the main development. There has been a few test runs in the past with Ledger, but it was nothing compared to what will be actually supported via official firmware.

When this deliverable hits production, users will still be able to cold-stake just like on the other wallets, and of course, use this as cold storage. In the previous section it was mentioned Ghost Electrum supports 256-bit addresses. This will remain true when Ghost is supported on the various hardware wallets available. More to come regarding this deliverable later.

Partnerships

In other developments, our Community Relations and Media Personnel team have been busy seeking out new opportunities to create strong partnerships for the Ghost ecosystem. Some of these include repairing old partnerships that spoiled in our early days due to lost contact and others are new partners that will increase the accessibility of Ghost, among other things. As our continuing efforts to spread awareness and expand our community, we have had a few official news articles written about Ghost. We expect to increase the number of articles through our Media Personnel. They are working day in and day out connecting with journalists and writers from every avenue.

New Exchange Listing

Speaking of partnerships, the last cherry on top of an explosive Q3 is a new exchange listing! $GHOST has been listed on Exchange Assets, a Ukrainian based exchange that offers PoS pools, interest on your holdings, and more. They have been around for over five years and counting! Exchange Assets offers four different trading pairs for $GHOST, BTC/LTC/USDT/S11. Users can trade on this exchange now.! BTW does anyone know how many coins McAfee holds? And did he dumped them already?
McAfee has/had 5% of the supply. I assume that McAfee sold it already, because at the last month the price was dumping (23 July the price was 1.67$).

5% of what Ghost coin or bitcoin? Nah McAfee likely doesnt know about the existence of this coin, why would he hold a stake? And seeing that McAfee antivirus is just as dumb as McAfee himself as it doesnt detect any vitrions at all, I guess doubts should be posted against the fact the McAfee's bitcoin price prediction is legit. Surely everything this guy says is fraud.

Whatever he was he was a clever fame hungry man. He tweeted that he would not kill himself, then killed himself. Knowing that the conspiracy theories will go on and on and hence his name will go on too. He was scared of going to the us and spending his remaining days in prison. He did kill himself imo but left it open so people speak of him.

RIP John McAfee.

If he got Epsteined, does he really have any very valuable intel to be epsteined as well?

Didn't McAfee also claimed that he uncovered who the real Satoshi N. is as well?

Anyways, we'll never really know the real story why he was epsteined anyways....

RIP.

McAfee commit suicide in a spanish prison cell: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-57589822

He definitely got "swhackd".

No fucking way Epstein or Mcafee killed themselves.

The weird thing is McAfee twittered, that he will not commit suicide and if he will be found dead in his prison cell, then that means that they "make the Epstein":
