This type of awareness and acceptance of Bitcoin by the PM community is another form of Gold parity....

Wow

you've got to be fucking kidding me! They got it:

Metals, Futures, Mining, Stocks, Forex, Bitcoin

well done, kitko!

They could've just slapped it under "forex", but it seems they understand Bitcoin: it's more of an asset class than anything else. It kind of fits under some of the other categories or none of them at all and Kitko recognized that correctly. Thanks!

Although, to be honest, they should've probably named the category "crypto" and list some altcoins in tabs like on the metals page.

Wow, Bitcoin really has come a long way.

I'm glad to see opportunities like this cropping up.
Bottled up subconscious humor.

But honestly 100k usd seems pretty high for a two percent stake?

Yes pretty high, but might be worth it for some folks.  Like a golf club membership.  They may get some drunk enough at their wine tasting to sign up?
Collectible wine has done better than the stock market over the last few decades.  But I've more than enough land in California as it is.

...I'd rather not go through fiat at all but the range of items for sale denominated in Bitcoin is limited.  Items that I want anyway.

Hopefully when I profit-take again in a year or two the landscape will be more conducive to trading straight across for shit which appeals to me.

How about an equity stake in a California Vinyard?

The options for direct diversification are increasing.

hmm.. Sadly I know nothing about the wine business.

I'm glad to see opportunities like this cropping up.  I to know nothing about the wine biz and that's how I would prefer that it stays.  I know there are shit loads of grape fields all over, and I've always suspected that having a winery is, as often as not, a way for rich people to lose money for tax reasons.  If so, it may tend toward being a tough way to make a dime for those who have that in mind.

In fact, I'll bet I drove past the vineyard in question on some of my weekend trips down that direction from the Bay Area.  Being in California is also a dis-advantage to me.  I spent a decade trying to get out of that place and finally succeeded a year and a half ago (although I had to work remotely for another year and go down there every month or two.)

Thx for the heads-up though Melbustus!

I agree and I think that 2014 will be the year that Bitcoin finally breaks through as a means of payment. This was the year it got real mainstream attention, next year we will see massive adoption waves in terms of actual usage. That is obviously great news for the innovators among us who are just waiting to be able to spend bitcoins in more and more ways.
Is there a (credible) plan for the scaling issue?  (I really should do my homework on this soon)

It can be fixed, just no sense of urgency yet, at least not enough to get a hard-fork done, it will be done when the time is right.

I think it's peculiar that bitcoin maxed out at about the price of an ounce, and now hovering right around half an ounce. I wonder if it's just a coincidence.  Undecided

probably it's because of the same idea of a broken clock being right twice a day, etc.
