Hi I have been toying with the idea of investing in BTC but have waited due to some investors saying the price will drop to 12 - 16k again. do you think it could still drop to this or are we more likely to move on up to 40k?

thanks in advance.

It's really hard to wait for the kind of price to happen, the possibility is slim now, specially if the prices keeps going up, the only reason that the price might go down hard is that if we have similar events that took place last year, the Terra Luna and then the FTX collapse. If there's no "black swan" then the price will continue to go up till the end of the year. We might see occasional minor corrections just like what we are seeing right now. Big surge to $30k then go down to the previous price of $28k'ish.

So If I'm in you shoes, I wouldn't wait for a big price drop, time is running out, you just have a year to go before the bitcoin block halving, (catalyst for a bullrun). So you better start accumulating BTC at this price. You can used DCA (Dollar Cost Average) to help you out buying Bitcoin every week, every month and be prepare for the eventual bull run in 2024-2025.

I tell you OP that before you invest in Bitcoin you make sure that you are really ready to face the volatility of its price. You will never have to think that after buying today you instantly make a profit by tomorrow or in the following days as there is no magic that works on it. If can decide to buy it now, then that is a good decision. You definitely can hear FUDs around and discouragement but have to remember that it may fall tomorrow, however, it will grow up back then. So, if you can beat those negative emotions, big rewards are not impossible in the upcoming bull season as we are going there.

What is your investment goal before deciding to invest in bitcoin? Is it intended to be for short or long-term purposes? If you're planning to invest for the long term, don't wait and take other investor's predictions that bitcoin will drop to $12k–$16k as your guide. You lose more time to invest because you are finding ways for this pricing to become available before you invest.

It is unknown whether the $12k–$16k price will be met. Instead of pondering the concept of investing in Bitcoin without taking any action, just buy at the present price you see now and hodl onto it for a longer period until your dream price of Bitcoin is actualized.
Yes after doing your research and taking the basic risk assessment it is important for the investor not to waste too much time before deciding when to put down the money into Bitcoin especially when Bitcoin is at a discounted price like its present price, but many potential investors often time missed the train and due to their inaction end up missing out in the entire period were the price touched down for a while.

No one is sure how long time will be at this discounted price and that is the more reason why anyone looking to invest in Bitcoin should do that as soon as possible and also make sure to buy when the price is low, not high.

I think it could still go drop in a few weeks but it will first go further up.

A long term investors though can start naking sats which is always been recommended to do as they said just DCA. Because you never know it may not really go down by now. It's a good time to buy while the price dips. Don't wait for Bitcoin because Bitcoin will not wait.
Let's hope it doesn't drop further to or below $28k as this alone has shocked a few of my friends and freaked out a bit. Even though they were aware that the price could drop this far, they still didn't expect it to return to even lower prices.

But this is good for us as long-term investors because we are still given the opportunity to buy bitcoin at low prices again. So don't waste this opportunity and immediately set the purchase price you want so you can get more bitcoins.

Investors minded will not wait for the price of the investment they want to have to drop to tens of percent before finally entering the market and buying it, because maybe while waiting for the price to drop to tens of percent what will happen is the opposite.
It would be better for you not to depend 100% on what the person said.

Accumulating while the bitcoin price is correcting is good, for me it is a strategy that has developed quite a bit so far.
Buying on dips is recommended to anyone looking to invest in the long term. This strategy has also proven profitable in combination with DCA. And of course some opinions should not be trusted 100% as financial advice so it is always important to make their own analysis before making a decision.

Right now bitcoin price has corrected as much as 4% in the last 24 hours or as much as 6% in the last week. I am inclined to believe that this correction will be short-lived before the price reaches a good level to be bullish. Admittedly a correction is inevitable, so it's good to consider an accumulation opportunity.

You find out for yourself whether the current price is still a reasonable price to have or not and whether Bitcoin has ever dropped by tens of percent in a short time, because if you rely heavily on his opinion, it is very likely that when you sell, you will do the same thing and in the end, you only get regret it.

There is no decrease of tens of percent in a day, but of course the percentage of decrease can increase over longer period of time, for example 7 days or in 1 month. But during April, I think this is just normal correction which should be considered as an accumulation opportunity. If they have any doubts that prices can drop any further, then DCA should be of great help.

If you are one of the long-term holders, what is expected is an increase and for those who have not yet started investing, it is expected that the price will fall to $ 12K- $ 16K in order to make a purchase. The point of view is different from the assessment of the two, so it tends to decide conclusions based on knowledge about the market. The price has been passed by Bitcoin and currently the lowest price has not touched $ 25K in the near future.

That means Bitcoin has progressed from the previous correction process, I am not very sure that in the future Bitcoin will go down to the price you think, but I can guarantee that correction will re -occur for the next month. So decide to buy at this time or wait for the price to be higher.

I don't think waiting too long to invest in Bitcoin is a good idea because you don't know what the price of Bitcoin will be in the next few days or weeks, who knows if Bitcoin will climb up to attain a new all time high before it drops again,  I am not saying that bitcoin cannot drop down to your speculated amount but then we must be clear on the fact that Bitcoin is way too high for it to touch down to 16k anytime soon.
Waiting for an uncertain price is not a good idea this is bitcoin when the price is high it is very small to touch back to the bottom so we have to think while there is an opportunity for us to buy then do it and now when bitcoin is experiencing a correction maybe it could be better for OP enters the market and buys as much bitcoin as he can afford to start his investment from now on, remember too much hope for bitcoin to return at a low price.

I have a friend who sold his personal belongings to invest in Bitcoin when Bitcoin touched its last discounted price of 20k and now he is in profits, but not all have that luck to be at gain at the present price but there is a certainty that if you hold for long you will definitely be in gain even if you bought at the present price.
Your friend has been convinced of the potential price of bitcoin when the price is discounted, he is willing to sell personal items to invest in bitcoin and has seen his opportunity there, of course doing good things and is now profitable because the price has touched $30K a few days ago but if he holding it longer then the profit will be much bigger with that we will be close to the halving then of course the price will increase later.

Even though not all are lucky but I believe anyone who invests in bitcoin not with other coins then he holds on for so long long term then he will be a big gain the fact bitcoin later will reach ATH again to see the bullrun to come.

The bottom in 2018 was around $3,000. The bottom in 2020 is not $3,000 but twice that. The price didn't fall below $6,000 in 2020.

Of course we cannot predict the price with accuracy. There were many times in the past when the price tumbled down when everybody was expecting it to rise. But there were also times when the price became aggressively bullish despite the bad news around. But I don't think $12,000 to $16,000 will be repeated soon. That's too far-fetched a possibility.
The current bottom this cycle was around 16k if I am not wrong, that means about 5 times bigger, and by that logic the top was 20k there, and the increase was about three and a half times bigger near 70k level as well.

So, when you calculate it like that, we could see that the price could become something a bit above 200k+ next run, and the drop could be something like a bit lower than 100k when it falls. I am not saying that is what it will happen, all I am saying is that this is one of the predictions but everyone has their own predictions and some say it will be half a million dollars, some say it will never pass the ATH ever again, I just believe in this, this is mine, and I might be wrong, I am just making a prediction like everyone else.

If you are stupid enough to believe in random people saying this and that, then you will never succeed in crypto investing mate because what you need to have here is to trust Bitcoin and keep it on hold as long as you can.
remember that we are talking about bitcoin here in which the safest and the strongest coin crypto ever had.
so assurance is always there to keep you moving and trusting.

You need to understand that when the price increases or decreases. The Bitcoins are fixed in number, hence when the demand to acquire the coins increases, in order to fulfil the demand, the price increases. The reverse happens that is price goes down, when the demand of the coin decreases. You can easily notice this if you go to any particular exchange and see there, whether there are more buy orders or sell orders. Now as far as the price is concerned, then I would suggest you to buy the coins at current price and don’t become too much greedy, Bitcoins are way more valuable then the current price.

Well for me it is always a good time to invest in Bitcoin. There is not a bad time to invest in Bitcoin if we think the price will go back to its All Time High of $68k.

When it comes to my Bitcoin, I like buying when prices are good. That time is right now when I can pick up it cheap. I know some people think it's best to buy when there’s good news and everything on the rise but that method has not served me well.

I like buying more BTC in times like these and hold long. We might be coming to a 'bull market' soon and now is the best time to stack up if you have some fiat to invest.

Don't rely too much on other people's speculation because it will make you disappointed if what they say doesn't happen in the bitcoin price cycle, of course today there was a deep correction after bitcoin reached the previous $30k level and the price is now at the $28k price level and that is It's a normal thing to happen in the bitcoin market, there are some analysts who say like you said that bitcoin might fall back to less than $20k but that is very unlikely considering the support at the $28k bitcoin price level is very strong and we have seen that until today.
And the right time to invest is now when the price drops before continuing its rally, this is like the case where in March bitcoin tried to increase in price from $ 24k to $ 26 and then corrected up to $ 21k.

Here's the thing about waiting for the "perfect" time to invest in BTC – you keep waiting, you end up missing out on some great opportunities. Predicting the price of BTC is like trying to catch a slippery fish with bare hands, it's just really hard to do.
Instead of waiting for that "dip", how about considering investing whenever you're able to, as long as you're cool with holding onto your investment and can afford to lose the money if things go south? That way, you're still being able to invest in crypto currencies without losing any chances. Just remember, always do your own research and don't invest more than you can afford to lose.

If you have decided to invest in BTC, I would say you have undoubtedly made a very good decision. Bitcoin falling to $16k $12k seems to be a very difficult moment. But we may be getting into $40000 very soon. But we stayed between 15000 dollars and 31000 dollars. So staying at $40,000 isn't too difficult for Bitcoin right now. Also, our next halving is nearing 2024, so Bitcoin is most likely to rise.

Who told you that the price will still drop to $12,000 to $16,000 again? If you will believe them and you will wait for that time to start buying, I'm afraid you will not be able to buy at all. $40,000 is much more possible than $12,000 to $16,000 at this point. But if you are really convinced that the price might fall that low, then divide your money. Start buying now and set aside another amount in case the price really drops more. But again, there is really no basis for the price to drop that low.
I also think the price will go up. But right now the market is euphoric, everyone thinks bitcoin is going to the moon again (like you and me), and usually the market moves contrary to expectations. Therefore it cannot be ruled out that the price will go back to the previous bottom. For example in 2020, when bitcoin was rising strongly, there was a collapse to the bottom of 2018. No one can say for sure how it will be this time.

I think you are wrong. The bottom in 2018 was around $3,000. The bottom in 2020 is not $3,000 but twice that. The price didn't fall below $6,000 in 2020.

Do you believe in the speculative investors who will say bitcoin is even lower? Just wait if you are sure but you will regret waiting for an uncertain price while bitcoin is currently recovering and in a little while the price of bitcoin can touch $ 40K of course that is my belief not affected by other speculation.

My prediction is that the price of bitcoin is unlikely to return to its lowest point again. This is good support to become further resistance. Are you ready for the capital to buy bitcoin now? Go for it, it will also be the best price while it's still low, or do DCA it will buy at the dollar-cost average that many others have used in bitcoin investments.

The price of bitcoin will always fluctuate so that it makes us wise, when we invest Bitcoin then we must think that the chance of losing money is very large, many people hope that we can buy at a low price for example below $ 1000, but if the price of $ 1000 comes then he will be scared because he know the highest price in 2021 had reached $ 70K so he would postpone and only see the price movement.
Supposedly when someone has seen a high price like what happened in 2021, he will be more willing to buy at a low price in the following year because Bitcoin can always get a gradual price recovery after a decline has happened to him. So it would be very surprising if there were people who were afraid to buy at low prices by just ignoring the moment, even though every good moment must be handled wisely if someone wants better profits through Bitcoin.

Depending on someone's perspective, maybe investors who already understand this make them wise in choosing time, and there are also those who may be confused about choosing the right time to invest and this happens more often to laymen or beginners because they don't really understand, and this requires them to seek sufficient knowledge to know the risks that will occur when they want to invest.
Everyone does have their own views on seeing certain moments and everyone doesn't have to be the same when it comes to investing because basically more experienced investors will always take advantage of the moment more quickly than ordinary people who just see it without acting faster. And indeed it is also very reasonable because considering the level of knowledge of each person who is always different when it comes to investing, especially in Bitcoin.
