Whatever the reason, this is a better thing than nothing because Google's change in attitude is very positive for the cryptocurrency market, which faces regulatory uncertainty around the world.
being allowed on the google ad network will allow bitcoin to reach more new users and will have a very good impact going forward, and the 3 year ban on bitcoin advertising has finally melted away even though it has to meet the requirements and processes that must be implemented, most importantly at least the bitcoin ad ban is no longer valid and we should be happy.

Google has plenty of room for Bitcoin to be advertised, huge platforms like YouTube and other Google apps, it'll be a better opportunity for Bitcoin promoters to advertise their casinos and services, they'll reach millions of people since YouTube alone has 122 million daily active users.

It's been 3 years since Google has banned Bitcoin ads, and knowing that the ban has been lifted, it only means that Bitcoin is continuously expanding and the number of companies who are willing to advertise in Google alone defines how big Bitcoin and the market is going to be.

Beginning August 3, advertisers offering Cryptocurrency Exchanges and Wallets targeting the United States may advertise those products and services when they meet the following requirements and are certified by Google.

In order to be certified by Google, you need to:

  • Be duly registered with
  • (a) FinCEN as a Money Services Business and with at least one state as a money transmitter; or
  • (b) a federal or state chartered bank entity.
  • Comply with relevant legal requirements, including any local legal requirements, whether at a state or federal level.
  • Ensure their ads and landing pages comply with all Google Ads policies

The following is not allowed:

BTCAds for initial coin offerings, DeFi trading protocols, or otherwise promoting the purchase, sale, or trade of cryptocurrencies or related products

    • Examples (non-exhaustive): ICO pre-sales or public offerings, cryptocurrency loans, initial DEX offerings, token liquidity pools, celebrity cryptocurrency endorsements, unhosted wallets, unregulated DApps

BTCAd destinations that aggregate or compare issuers of cryptocurrencies or related products

    • Examples (non-exhaustive): Cryptocurrency trading signals, cryptocurrency investment advice, aggregators or affiliate sites containing related content or broker reviews

Here is the link of the original statement: https://support.google.com/adspolicy/answer/10688110?hl=en

In overall, we can say that this is a good news because it will help us to not become a victim of most crypt scams. People won't be able to buy similar domain and advertise scam crypto mixer clones, they won't be able to advertise scam ICOs, etc.[/list]

Are these the Google Ads that pops up in the first in the search result that has "Ad" tag before the result itself? Not sure if this is gonna be a good news, because there has been a lot of frauds of those advertisement making people think that it is a legitimate website. I am pretty sure that even phishing site are sometimes included in those ads.

I kind of recall this thread where there is a fake Blockchain website. It will make people think that they are visiting their legit site.

it's true that this good news has been circulating a month ago if google has started accepting bitcoin ads it will affect the price of bitcoin of course the price of bitcoin will be moon and this will definitely be a big opportunity for those who have big capital now when buying bitcoin it's likely that in the future bitcoin prices will go up, don't waste this golden opportunity.
Indeed, this will be a good start. Now that Google has released and accepted it, it will not take back this news again, which bodes well for the future of the encryption field. What is certain is that Bitcoin will rise because of Google's price, and Google will definitely reap certain benefits.
But I hope the advertisements I see will not be some scams. I have seen fraudulent advertisements on other websites. I hope Google can filter out these bad things.
It seems that this is indeed good news. Everyone probably knows it now. Bitcoin seems to be going up, but there are indeed many false advertisements. They should strictly prohibit false advertisements. We must be more vigilant as some consumers come in. But this ban will not be taken back?

What changes have they done to pick which ad could be approved?
This is the link to the update https://support.google.com/adspolicy/answer/10688110

The ads that are not allowed:
    • Ads for initial coin offerings, DeFi trading protocols, or otherwise promoting the purchase, sale, or trade of cryptocurrencies or related product. Ads like ICO.
Ad destinations that aggregate or compare issuers of cryptocurrencies or related products

If you read all the changes made, it's basically very vague rules. They are not distinguishing which one is actually allowed which any bitcoin-related ad could be subjected to not being allowed.

Google is keen to prevent any opportunities for false advertising.
The platform will not allow advertisements for initial coin offerings (ICO) and decentralized finance (DeFi) trading protocols.
Other advertisements used to purchase or trade cryptocurrency.
This also includes pre-sales, crypto loans, initial decentralized exchange (DEX) products, token liquidity pools, celebrity cryptocurrency endorsements, non-custodial wallets, and unregulated decentralized applications (dApps).

    source:https://finance.yahoo.com/news/google-reverse-crypto-exchange-wallet-073215325.html

It can be seen that they are taking several different measures to prevent fraud.
I don’t think this will solve the problem, but their regular advertising already has a fraud problem. I very much doubt that they are doing more than maintaining phishing links similar to major cryptocurrency exchanges.

From the quote above, maybe we can understand that allowed ads must meet the requirement and get Google certification. Advertisers still have to comply with the regulation of the country which is the region or country the advertisement is targeted for and so far the United States is one of those mentioned in the article. Trading platform and wallet are two ads that may get permission from google and get certified, but nevertheless they can increase people's exposure to bitcoin and crypto. I believe this will be positive information for crypto.

this is good news. i have already read the articles of google updating their ad rules for crypto last month, this is just implemented this month. good for everyone who can advertise there i guess if is adopted widely now companies can already advertise and flash their ads to everyone interested whenever they visit some websites. if only casinos are allowed in google adnetwork, they're already there and not here.

They allowed ads in the past, then they tightened their rules and restrict ads repeated to cryptocurrency in 2018 in the massive compromise of scam ICOs.

Three years and now they lift those restrictions. It is a must lift to keep their platform position because many new companies are readily to join the ecosystem and take over the leading position of Google.

When governments, SEC launch more regulations on cryptocurrency, taxation, and more, Google will fully open their gates to all crypto companies that can pass regulations from government. Those companies will bring income to Google, not only from Google ads.

I'm not that excited to hear that. In the past, Google Ads were only filled with new crypto investments, affiliates, ponzi schemes. Also they are quite weak with verifying the legitimacy of ad site sources due to the fact they only do more serious reviews when ads are reported.

    -snip-
we still depend on centralized internet search engine.

Google is the biggest adsense provider right? The target of advertising is not just search engine users, internet users have depended a lot on google products where they allow displaying as many ads as possible such as youtube, android apps, etc. In fact, wherever you visit the site, you can't avoid ad space and most of it is google adsense.

It's rather straightforward imo though? Crypto-related stuff that isn't released or isn't guaranteed by something (idk specifically what, or maybe it's just that it needs to be an "official" release) isn't allowed. Trading advice, signals, groups, and such are also not allowed. In this case, the ads that would pop out are most likely CEXs and the like, the ones that have a theme of being "regulated" by a central body. I wouldn't exactly expect a "Bitcoin" ad itself, maybe one that leads to the whitepaper or something, since most would be taken by exchanges and companies and the like..

I did see a few adverts before this statement was made by google. The question is will they continue to support the crypto space or they will again implement the ban after some time? I assume they might not as most tech giants are accepting crypto adverts and Google does not want to be left out. The next step would be accepting cryptocurrency to pay for the advert.

Google has begun to accept advertisements for Bitcoin, and Google lifted its ban on advertisements related to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Starting August 3, companies using Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies can once again advertise on the search giant and various websites that are part of its platform. The ban was implemented in March 2018 to comply with the new regulations of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network of the United States (FinCEN).

    Article Source: https://updateonbitcoin.com/google-lifted-the-ban-on-advertising-related-to-bitcoin/

Possibly a good news for a centralized web world. Where one company has a market share of more than 60% and dominates almost everything happening online. It's sad that in the times of decentralized currency systems, we still depend on centralized internet search engine. But that's what it is! Google wants a slice from crypto market and crypto market needs new users. If both are fulfilling each other's requirements, where to complain? It's instead better to submit to the situation and prosper! Isn't it?

I have also heard this problem in the past. This time hopefully google has really supported the crypto space. The giants of twitter and facebook also have behaviors that cause the market to reverse. I don't expect google to start a fud effect a few months later. Lol, media is always a double-edged sword.

Yes, this is good news, but it doesn't mean that advertisers will have an easy time to used for any projects specially scammy ones. They will have to pass certain requirements before being allowed to use in Google platforms.

So this is a win-win again for crypto related projects, they can take the and used Google and then Google can obviously generate income from the ads.

This is a positive news for cryptocurrencies. Google's acceptance of Bitcoin advertisements will affect the price of Bitcoin. When people see the advertisement, more people will understand Bitcoin, and Bitcoin will become more and more popular, which will drive the price up.
Hope to see legal and interesting things on the website instead of fake encrypted news that creates FUD.

This is excellent news for everyone. I hope that Google would find ways to monitor and cancel out ads that will possibly scam people and know what type of projects and companies are legit. Some of the wrong people will probably take advantage of this and make it so that they are benefiting from this lifting of the ban.

Overall, this would create even more exposure to crypto, and I hope it's a positive one.
