As long as the ads that will be taken down or banned are the illegitimate ones. But if it is an authentic ad from a legitimate crytocurrency, then I think they should think twice.

Google itself is a business.  Many investors and businessmen are engaging with Cryptocurrencies nowadays. Google can't avoid that.  And because they are in the business of making money (whether fiat or crypto), they are into it in the future.  Perhaps they are just compelled by the Gov't who are against this kind of currency.  Grin

That post were made lot of time ago but nowadays we heard again about this "idea" of google and... nothing, for me this will be just a "thread" that we could talk about it every day of the year but google will not make that big step.

Agreed, even if happens people will still find a way to spread the Crypto/Blockchain ads across the internet.

Because Google does not have such a right or ability to determine whether the project is good or not and to limit the ability for the ads. It is quite unfair if such a policy is created for good icos only but we also can never tell whether such an ICO is good or not, success or fail at the end even if it is a good one. They may not have enough capital or extra problems occured while led to fail

So... Little by little, crypto is being brought down to the same level as porn, if advertisement rights are to be believed.

I think it is a bit premature to group crypto in with explicit content such as pornography. Every single google-based crypto advertisement I saw was either a scam or looked like it could have easily been an exit scheme. Perhaps Google and internet advertisers will look to rework/establish new guidelines on how cryptocurrencies will be advertised using their platforms so a large number of scams aren't out in the open for any joe and jane to be looped into.

Bitcoin does not need adds.

Finally its a good decision. There are many scams. If you search for an ICO these ads will come in front to scam ppl

I don't think it's a bad idea. Look at the market, look at all the scams. It makes sense for such a large company to try and be responsible like this. Sure it won't benefit you, but it will benefit the noobs.

I can say it's not an easy decision for Google to take but they have to do it in the interest of many novices out there . Countless projects are posted everyday and a great deal are scams or won't survive.

Google is just trying to protect its image.

I totally agree. Google its just playing its almighty role, which is expected of such coorporation and Facebook if true it will follow the same suit. Though, it is sad to see these big companies not endorsing crypto.

It seems that because of the excessive advertising power before, most people have reported or complained? Indeed 2016-2017, they accept a very large number of advertisements. Perhaps people's awareness of encryption was not that widespread. But I don't think this will be permanent. As you said, now is the era of the digital economy, and only the accepted talents can hardly see the future.
ICO advertising may be strictly managed in the near future, which also promotes the development of the market! Isn't it?

Interesting update on this as far as timing of my post yesterday. As of today, I have seen ICO ads getting disapproved by Google. I'm rather surprised by this. I really didn't expect them to take action against cryptocurrencies. I still believe, like you, that this will not be a permanent ban. It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out.

There are several experts in the world who claim that Facebook and Google are preparing to launch their own crypto-currencies. It is hard to imagine that analysts of such advanced campaigns do not understand the potential of a growing market. There is an opinion that these campaigns are preparing to launch not just their own crypto currency, but a whole range of services, built on blockchain technology. I think the launch of services by such giants will immediately raise the capitalization of these currencies. To what extent, it remains only to guess.

I've been skeptical about this from the beginning but I strongly think this will not be happening now. Facebook is lifting their ban only a few months after its ban partially went into effect. I believe Google thinks it is in their best interest to take ad revenue from this and has no reason to restrict advertising if Facebook is not.

Managing ads for ICOs, I have not seen any slow down or negative effect for a ban that was supposedly starting now. Any talk of this will probably quietly fade out and things will stay bau.

Google will boycott all digital currency related promoting

Google intends to boycott all digital currency related advertising   Google wants to boycott all cryptographic money related promoting

11:23 AM ET Wed, 14 March 2018 | 00:46

Google is taking action against cryptographic money related promoting.

The organization is refreshing its budgetary administrations related promotion strategies to boycott any publicizing about digital currency related substance, including introductory coin contributions (ICOs), wallets, and exchanging counsel, Google's chief of supportable advertisements, Scott Spencer, told CNBC.

That implies that even organizations with honest to goodness digital currency contributions won't be permitted to serve advertisements through any of Google's promotion items, which put publicizing alone locales and additionally outsider sites.

This refresh will become effective in June 2018, as indicated by an organization post.

"We don't have a precious stone ball to know where what's to come will run with cryptographic forms of money, however we've seen enough customer mischief or potential for shopper hurt that it's a region that we need to approach with extraordinary alert," Scott said.

Google's hard-line approach takes after a comparative boycott that Facebook reported recently.

While the cryptographic money blast has delivered a great deal of energy and riches, it's as yet a generally unregulated space and has brought forth endless prominent tricks.

This news comes as Google discharges its yearly "trust and security" advertisements report.

Google said it brought down in excess of 3.2 billion advertisements in 2017 that damaged its strategies, which is about twofold the 1.7 billion it expelled the prior year.

Google parent organization Alphabet makes around 84 percent of its aggregate income from promoting, so persuading sponsors that its biological system is protected and compelling is fundamentally essential.

I've heard the Facebook is going to create its own crypto which explains why they would ban adds for a little bit. Is Google planning on doing the same as well?

Its funny to see Google and Facebook, once pioneering technology companies (now large bloated corporations) act in the same way as the establishment (shutting out the new to protect itself). People are getting banned on youtube for having slightly leftfield views and the issue of censorship is arising. It doesn't matter that they do this because ways around it will always be found.

Any examples of companies, that can compete Google and Facebook?

There may not be a company to compete, that they now have a threat in their. A decentralized platform, the blockchain technology, the bitcoin. Have you even been given a penny for risking your details to open an account on facebook? Have you thought of the number of time you spend on facebook liking peoples picks and post and yet receives no reward? What have you personally done to add knowledge to bitcoin or blockchain technology? yet spending a bit of your time in this forum can pay you a lot. Now you spend much time Posting in this forum because you rightfully know this is where your money comes from and spends less time on facebook. This is what we call a competition. This is what Google and Mark are scared of. Bitcoin will pull down the activities that go on in their forum and reduce the amount of money that they generate from us yearly.

After a long day at work, it became a habit for me to read news just to be informative on what's happening around. Then I bumped into this interested topic which came from our local news website.

Being a crypto enthusiast, I was baffled upon reading the entire body of the subject. Why such a tech giant such as Google doesn't want cryptocurrencies be advertised? We are already in the golden age of digital economy and more people became interested as time goes by.

"As per Alphabet Inc's Google, they will shutdown ads that contains cryptocurrencies this coming June.

The new policy implemented will ban advertisement that are unregulated or speculative financial products.

They (Google) want to improve the ads experience across the web, and crypto related ads has become more harmful and intrusive to the market.

Even Facebook already announced to ban ICO's, it will be implemented across all platforms including Instagram"

Yeah, I read that too. taken down ads on those platform will not stop a technology that is decade old. If cryptocurrency was two days old the i wouldf really agree and rather plead they allow adds. As for facebook, the implementation has already started. banning is ongoing for individuals who make cryptorelated post. Google stated that you will be banned if there happened to be violation of rules. As to the criteria for violation of their rules and which rules they were, i cant specify.

i think google is not super happy about decentralism Wink
there is nothing to win for them in this space.

so they kill 2 flys with 1 hint Wink
1. no competitors advertising
2. they get a better light on them from governments Wink

no worrys,..
if the first big decentral stuff will be mass adaptet,...
everybody will talk about it again.

just be pacient Wink
