The new updates on Google again hit the crypto headlines due to its ban on cryptocurrency mining apps on Play Store. Play Store, the pre-installed Android based app will no longer feature crypto mining apps for the crypto enthusiasts. The developer policies of Google Play Store have completely prohibited the cryptocurrency mining apps which supposedly feature disruptive ads.

Amidst this stringent measure, the company has still considered giving permission to those apps which focus on remotely handling crypto mining. Android's digital distribution services has previously released update that led to the banning of all apps pertaining to fake ID.
Hmmm.... That's interesting, but I don't see that as a real threat for us because you can easily download and use applications on android smartphones without having to download it directly from Play market.

I heard the news before. But i can't understand why they did this. As far as i know Google has no right to ban cryptocurrency mining app. So it’s not justifiable.

Actually it's a wise decision from Google. Those apps in playstore that were telling you that you can mine bitcoin/satoshi by solving captchas and clicking/watching annoying ads are "Scam and Fake apps". I've tried one of those before but guess what? A bitcoin mining app? Where you can easily modify the value of satoshi by modifying its "Shared preferences" file?

I assure that the developers of those apps earned some bucks for fooling people to use their apps. Its Google's great move to take some action to those fraudulent developers and apps  Undecided

SO many minning apps are available on playstore, but i think most of them are fake, and givving nothing. Freebitcoin and freedoge coin app on playstore is providing very few btc and doge coin but in long run.

They are taking actions with these mining apps but they aren't taking actions with the phishing sites and fake websites that has been advertised by them.

If this is the start of them stepping in with these apps, I hope they'll next those fake websites that mainly targets crypto newbies.
Exactly, they can’t control that scam sites from spreading. Well this is quiet not new because google always make ways to do shit things on cryptocurrency. Its quiet unfortunate that they are preventing this technology from making a good run in this market, well they can’t do this on cryptocurrency forever.
I don't mind if they can remain that too aggressive to crypto or they are very much skeptic to it but the action as the most popular search engine where they are allowing a lot of phishing sites to exist on their search query is really unethical.

They are taking actions if somebody reports that site/app that's on their engine is a fake or is only there to cause harm.

It is a good step taken by google to eradicate the useless mining apps which either scams their users or pay them very lesser than expected. Moreover, These apps harm mobile phone more than it pays hope. There is still no alternative to hardware mining and people should stick to that. Hopefully, the ban on these mobile mining apps will help their users to move to hardware mining or directly investing on crypto market.

Wait they are dictating what can be sold/downloaded on their platform.... How dare they.  Roll Eyes

I was about to pull out my first gen iphone and go to town earning so many satoshis I could buy another next week when it dies.

That will just be one less delusion out there about mining BTC, mind you it has been alomost 3 months since I saw a post about mining on a phone. If only we could get people to update their websites as well to let people know you can't CPU/GPU mine anymore.

If the user understands what he is doing with the mining app then Google has no right to ban those genuine mining apps completely.

None of those apps are telling the users the truth.
And truth was that for the most app there was barely any mining done and the apps were full of ads, that's how the "devs" were earning tons of money and you were just destroying your phone.
There was no warning about what 24/h mining would do to your phone and battery, there was no warning you're going to earn 2 cents a year.

Those apps were used just to promote shitcoins and tricking newbies.
Goodbye and good riddance!

I second that opinion. Google play store is actually overburdened with loads of mining apps now and 99.99% of them doesn't do any good. I tried few of them when I started my crypto journey without any luck. It's better to have a clean marketplace instead of these useless apps.

If the user understands what he is doing with the exploit application, Google does not have the right to completely ban those genuine mining applications. Most exploit applications are just scams that contain a lot of ads. and eat a lot of your time.

there is no "genuine mining applications" for your cell phone and play store is for android phone applications not PC. so there is no point in allowing applications that are not possible to even exist.

Good. Those never really amounted to anything, from what I heard. Never tried using them. For all the effort and the risk of frying my device, I would have just bought bitcoins from an exchange during a dip and held it. Easy peasy.

Also, Google owns the platform, they can ban whatever they want. There used to be apps that allows Youtube to play in the background even when the phone is locked. That didn't sit well with Google's marketing plans so they banned them.

If these are legitimate projects, the devs can just release an .apk.

Haha yes, better just make your own app that'll earn you ads rather than install those. Who knows what malware your phone might contract.

This is a bit frustrating since we can mine using smartphones. We need to look a bit further and see if this really is the case or not.

I do not think it will affect the market very much. It's not so easy to pay for mining from mobile devices.

Being a decentralized system, al the altcoins along with Bitcoin has to face it hard, and there's nothing we can do over the dominating party. They keep getting banned and removed but guess what ? Bitcoin is still at its place and it'sstil growing well , with all the appreciation it has recieved from its users.

I am atleast in google's side on this matter, all those creepy apps that claim to mine bitcoin from your phone, free bitcoin ponzis are really headache for many users. Many of them are there to just show you ads and they will never pay you and some even ask you to send few bitcoin to upgrade your miner or similar bullshit.
