the invites have been coming out a lot faster in the last couple weeks.

from what I read elsewhere, the gpumax community has more than doubled in the past week and a half...

If this is a pirate enterprise, how is it still functioning?  and why are people still using it?  I suppose greed is still stronger than fear!

It is not solely pirate.  A gentleman by the handle of Zux0r handles most of the administration, and does a damn good job.

As for why we use it?  It is an amazing operational tool for managing large farms.  I utilize it to monitor and manage my 30+ miners, and it makes the task of re-directing power to different pools a snap.  The public work aspect is simply a bonus, and some do not even bother with it.

There is a huge difference between lending a guys 100's of thousands of BTC on nothing but a prayer, and utilizing a good service that you can withdraw from instantly if you choose.

I can understand how it may be useful, however, your arguement is that because its run by a known thief and some other guys, the other non thiefs make it ok!  Seems a little mad to me.

And as for the 'withdraw instantly' thing, I seem to remember Pirate saying something else about his 'investment fund'!

He meant stop using the service once an admin decides to redirect every share possible to his own/other pool before the shutdown.

Alright, so for those of you who have been using gpumax the past couple of days, have you been getting paid?

I'm ready to start using it again if everyone's getting paid nightly.
I have, but I've had almost no public work, despite my lowest-priced workers being waaaaaaay below the strike price.

I wouldn't plan on getting many public shares. No one is going to give Pirate a cent.

Take your uninformed FUD out of here.  GPUMax hasn't failed to pay anyone for their mining resources, hasn't taken payment for leased shares and not leased them, or done anything else you fucking trolls kept trying to accuse them of doing.

You asshats can't even understand the simple fact that GPUMax isn't just pirateat40

Hey, before assuming I'm just here to bash Pirate, think about it like this. Pirate is involved with GPUMAX, people don't trust Pirate, in turn less people will use GPUMAX. That is my theory as to why he is getting few Public shares.

Personally, I was using GPUMAX for a while, however, it was refusing shares from time to time and wasn't worth the very few public shares I got. I moved back to abcpool.

that is what a forum is for. static content for all users to digest.
Sorry, but I disagree with both sides :
  • I don't like digging in the forums, this single thread is already several thousand posts long, where should I look for a given piece of information?
  • IRC is for real-time chat and as such is even less adequate for publishing information (the only exception is the channel topic which can be used for low frequency news updates).
If you want to publish information, use a blog or a wiki for two obvious examples. Forums and IRC are for discussions, the second one for real-time ones. If you have an announcement to do, publish it on your blog or wiki, then copy or link it in the forums and give a link to it in IRC.

You are right. That seems to be better. Even the gpuminus website could work.

But eh.. what do you expect from this tainted operation.

I am surprised anyone with an ounce of integrity would still be using it. That is just me tho.

Im not even sure zuxor has an account here, but he is fairly available on IRC.

ah irc. might as well be mars.

here is irc:

user0: ur m0m is fat!
user1: i have an announcement. gpuminus is doing great and I expect us to succeed.
user2: lulz
user4: that is awesome news. I hope things continue to get better
user0: i hope i succeed at fucking ur m0m.
user69 has left the channel
user2: rofl!!@#@#$
user4: what are the plans for future development?
user5: ;;gibblefucksmyassbot ticker
user6: i have not been paid in 3 minutes! help!
user7: ...
....

that is not a place to give support on something like this. do they expect users to go and
find irc logs and parse them for actual info?

IRC is a much better place to get support than a forum.  If the channel is too busy, use a pm.  If you like waiting, use the forum.

but it really sucks for a general announcement that would not fit in the topic for the channel.
something that takes more then a one liner sentence or three to do.

that is what a forum is for. static content for all users to digest.

I didn't say the other people involved couldn't be trusted.  Only that GPUMAX couldn't be trusted because of pirate's involvement.  Big difference as far as Im concerned...

Im not quite sure I see the big difference. Would you say pirate was not involved with all the PPTs and BTCST subaccounts? Or is your point that you fully distinguish the people from their business?

FWIW, I still have some faith in gpumax. Until shown otherwise, I have no reason to assume zux0r had anything to do with the ponzi, and I strongly suspect he is the only reason gpumax miners where finally paid out, and probably even the only reason gpumax hasnt been leasing/laundring 24/7 with no pay after the closure of BTCST. If pirate was still running the show, thats more what I would have expected to happen.

The point I'm trying to make is I wouldn't trust or use GPUMAX because of pirateat40's involvement.  If on the other hand I see one of the other GPUMAX admins selling something on this board that I wanted, I would still make an offer, because they are still trustworthy.

But pirateat40 has now added his taint to the GPUMAX system.  Even if it's functioned flawlessly up to this point, there are still question marks in many people minds because he is involved.
