He tried to to dual mine with the current voltmod

I don't see how that could have burned up those particular connections / components. Especially the fan feed wires! How the heck did they manage to overheat? Them being burned up indicates to me that the fan is the possible culprit!
These pods and those components are supposed to be able to handle a good amount of current and heat while mining in dual mode. 60W at least!
More investigation needs to occur before the actual 'reason why' can be determined.

well if modded they use like 15/20 watt, how much watt could they draw on dual mode? maybe that's the problem?

yes, obviously, they do draw more in dual or sha only mode.
The thing is, if there are lose or poor solder joint connections, this will cause a rise in current draw hence, heat and catastrophic destruction will ensue! Just like it did there...
For the fan wires to have melted and distorted the way they did, the heat from the entire pod would have to be like 350+ degrees! Highly doubtful that happened.
For the fan wires to have melted the way they did, the heat would have to be generated by the 'elements' / wires - themselves.
That's what I see. The rest of the components were burned up via a short and that, perhaps is what caused the solder connections to melt and open.
Or, I suppose it could have also all happened in a flash! That 12V connection can have as much as 30 Amps on it at any time 'surge amps' if the psu is a 30A unit. Even 10A can do it. Heck, 5A could do it too I recon but it would take longer.
It's also possible that the psu took a powder and caused the damage as well. A high current spike, a high voltage spike, of some origin could cause it as well. Something like a lightening strike could certainly cause it as well.

Don't try this at home, kids:

I've tried to mine BTC with a volt-modded unit...  Cry

It seems to me that FB23 and FB24 are gone, does anybody has the specs? Maybe I can replace them.

What did you do to cause that?

Ok so I did the voltage mod on all 14 of my gridseeds last night. When I went to bed all 14 were mining just fine. Today I moved to a different pool and I just checked on my cgminer only 11 were submitting shares 3 of them had 0 WU and weren't submitting any shares but the red and green lights are flashing on all 14 Gs ? Any ideas? It was only running for a half hour when I noticed this should I just let it run longer and see if they start working like they should?

Has anyone tried just using a sharp nail clipper/scissor to remove the resistor? Simple, quick and sweet!

Yes, definitely tell people how to risk breaking their PCB and or bricking their pods....nice going Wink

Ive been running 10 modded pods at 1150, 0 HW errors in 24 hours.
Having to fiddle with pool and miner settings though, having trouble getting the share rate higher, although the hash rates are quite good.
Still trying to sort that out, no definitive answer yet as to why the pool-side share rates are poor. Im getting plenty of accepted shares reported on the miner side.
Any thoughts on that?

I've been running mines at 1100Mhz and also got 0HW errors since modded +12H ago

I've been running 2 modded GDS and 2 unmoddeded for 2 days 3 hours and 10 mins.

Here are my specs

Unmodded units

Grid 1)
     Freq: 900
     Accepted: 13550
     Rejected: 221
     HW: 0

Grid 2)
     Freq: 900
     Accepted: 13740
     Rejected: 606
     HW: 1

Modded Units

Grid 3)
     Freq: 1138
     Accepted: 13190
     Rejected: 270
     HW: 942

Grid 4)
     Freq: 1213
     Accepted: 12882
     Rejected: 152
     HW: 8

I mean, I am definetly getting more at 900Mhz than the OC units and this is a 2 day run!

Hmmm I've modded 3 of my units and they have been running over 12 hours continuously at 1200mhz with 0 hw on all 3. 510.7kh/s each .

I had original modded GS unit running at 1200 overnight, generated around 20 HW errors.  Not too terrible.

I just got done modding the rest ... naturally the last one gave me the most trouble because I was becoming comfortable and rushing things.

Got them all going at 1175 and gonna see how many if any HW errors I get in the morning.

I've got 5 units going.  Modding all 5 was like gaining 1.5 GS units.  Awesome.  =)

Excellent! Good work!

If your green LED blinks but never the red double-check the soldering ... you're not gonna be submitting shares if that's the case.

I've done mine and had to re-do two and noticed the LED deal.  I was like 100% positive I didn't have a bad soldering job on one.  Nah, I did.  lol

I would also advise to turn your resistors towards the exterior, less chance to touch the heatsinks

Yes, I concur!

OK just got my resistors today, I undid the previous 2 solder mods and put on this one.  At 1000mhz i don't seem to be accepting any shares, also using 0 Watts measured with the Kilowatt.  Any ideas?

Double check the continuity with your DVM..
The inside solder point looks open...
Solder it to one or the other points next to each other. They are the same connection on the pcb as one was for a capacitor next to R52
Always double check.
It really sounds like your resistor is not in circuit.
