Just stumble upon this project now and as usual,,, I find something I like when it is quite late! I only have one privacy coin, Monero, and sorry to ask here now when I should look through the thread but there are so many.

Does anyone believe that a project with good support and obviously serious developers have a chance when coins like Monero are so well established?

Grin is not private, all transactions are broadcast

Upgrade information: Grin v1.1.0

Quote
Summary
Grin v1.1.0, a non-breaking upgrade and our first minor version since launch, has been released. A tonne of improvements have gone into this release, most notably adding official support for Windows 10, and separating all node and wallet functionality into two different repositories and binaries, grin and grin-wallet. In addition, a lot of bugs have been squashed and there has been improvements to security and overall performance. While this upgrade is optional, it is recommended for all users.

This document gives a high level overview of what has changed, what impact this has for ecosystem participants, and also offers some information about what’s ahead as we prepare for the July hard fork where there will be a breaking upgrade to Grin version 2.0.0.

Some shitcoins might have the answer to the problems that might occur in bitcoin's monetary policy when all the coins have been mined, however.

I don't know about you, but I am planning on being dead in 2140.

Unless fees will get much higher Bitcoin will face problems much earlier then.  Something like in 20 years.  20 years is a lot, to focus on that right now, since Bitcoin have many other problems to solve first.   Grin definitely not have this problem.  When you start thinking of the future of securing Bitcoins network you realize how silly Roger Ver is with keep repeating how low fees BCH have.

Agreed. I reckon the Grin developers have created the project based from and to address the mistakes of bitcoin's monetary policy.

Grin monetary policy simply helps with onchain scaling.

Privacy-Centric Coin Grin Sets Mid-July Target Date for First-Ever Hard Fork

Privacy-centric cryptocurrency Grin is finalizing its timeline for its first-ever network hard fork,
according to a proposed timeline uploaded by Grin core developer Quentin Le Sceller to Github dev community forum Gitter on June 5.

It seems Grin took similar approach as Monero with twice a year hard forks or as I like to call them better the protocol upgrades.

In any case, are there bitcoin developers rumored to be working on Grin under Harry Potter pseudonyms?

To many WO's are in this GRN, bought myself a low quantity in as well.... nothing I cannot manage of-course Cheesy

The great question: what will this get pumped to in BTC when the time comes? Let's just assume the whales want to see this coin in the top #20 of market cap. Currently that's around 1/150th of bitcoin's cap. If the pump happens mid-2020, supply will be around 65 million, so that's ~0.002 BTC (1/150/(65/18.4)).  Mid-2021, it works out to ~0.0013 BTC.

Of course, a lot of assumptions here...

BTC + Crossfit, living life.
With mixing services closing one after the other (first Bitmixer, now BitcoinBlender), I believe we'll see a surge to GRIN as it looks to have unmatching anonymity which cannot be tempered.
This is nonsense. Don't buy this shitcoin. Thank me later.

Why "shitcoin"?  GRIN is one of the few projects with interesting NEW tech...

Still if it isn't BTC then it is sh*tcoin, didn't learn anything from passed events? Roll Eyes

Technically the price looks good for an uptrend to start as well.
