Yan will be sending me an avalon6 replacement board.  Not free of charge which is fair since I burned it from my stupidity.

He did give me a discount for running the group buy.

So to all avalon6 owners  do not use a psu with more then 12.5 volts  and when you check the gui make sure it is under 12.3 volts

I want to thank Yan for the replacement part in advance.

They should give you a board for the hard work you do with their product ! Tongue

I was hoping that ..

So far still waiting for an answer to pm and email.  but make no mistake this is my error.

I want people to know that max reading on the gui for volts needs to be under 12.3 not under 12.8 as I thought

I could always send it to sidehack and see if he could build some usb sticks from it.

Back at pc.

This is your gui min-max

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon6

Basic Information

PSU requirements:
Minimum 1100W output, recommend to use high-quality PSU for server
with more than 1200W output and high quality power cable.
Input voltage no lower than 11.7V and no higher than 12.2V (numbers
take from the controller)
Lower voltage leads to lower hashrate and higher voltage leads to
possible device burning down.
NOTICE: Poor quality cable may result in low voltage

under the 11.7 = lower voltage leads to lower hashrate

and higher voltage over the 12.2v   leads to possible device burning down.

so going under 11.7 on the gui is not a big deal.

going at 12.3v and above = possible burn out  .

My gui was at 12.5 or 12.6  and my hash was at 3850 - 3950

I used a finksy/j4bberwock  dual psu to do this.

basically because I scanned the info

and found this

Version 601511-f4f59c70
Update Core test check rules
Update Input voltage check rules (Input voltage should not >= 12.8V)
Fix result when run test scripts

I was at 12.5 or 12.6 and thought I was good to go.

@philipma1957 Before you mention running it at 11.75v for a lower noise, and now I'm scared leaving mine running at 11.7v, since you mention it should be between 11.8v-12.2v. Should I be scared you think?

I don't think underclocking can result in dmg. Likely just bad performace but you should confirm it with Avalon or BlockC to be 100% sure.

For now, I would play by the rules until further information.

Doing 3.26 TH after 6 hours. I just a bit under the -+ 5%.

I blame my Seasonic 1250w. I see 11.8-11.9 Volt.

well  I have had that issue with the seasonics.

but my dual 2000/4000 240 volt

with 3 volt settings

11.8

12.1

12.6

has just burnt a board at the 12.6 setting.

I did not see magic smoke but I smelt it.

You can see that the temps read 33 31 75   the 31 should be a 73 or 75

So  do not go to 12.6 volts

note this page link above  price is 10 for 11900  and  volts are now at 11.8 to 12.2   so they had 2 different numbers for safe volts

Any of you have any link on how to tune the avalon ? I have a 1200 platinum seasonic power supply and look like it only give 11.9 V

Will like to underclock it to make it more stable.  Grin

Simple go to the settings page set your pools

Freq is 500

Fan is 20

Drop freq to 480

Keep fan at 20

Run for a few hours

Compare to your freq 500 numbers

Drop slow but sure to 460 -20
440-20
420-20
 400-20

Then you can decide what is best.

That is some master packaging Phil ! Cheesy

I just opened the box ;-)

yes I thought I did well, but Yan  of block_C really did a good job getting the 10 to me safely  and really well packed.

I did a little extra packing for yours and Valkir basically so that it would get thorough customs and also since it was 2 pieces to keep it safe from smashing.

I give you 10/10 !!!!
