I sell a lot of sticks on ebay ,but in very small batches. sets of 2 or 3 sticks. I write up a sale for 3 sets of 3 and restrict to 1 set per buyer.  It slows down chargebacks but does not stop them.  The AM sticks were good when the price kept dropping you could send a replacement or two to prevent a return or a charge back.

do you have any idea how hard it is to sell on ebay?  if he makes 10000 sticks he has 0 control over clever people buy hashing and charging back.  some wise guy will dummy up a few dozen account buy 150 sticks and return them in  44 days claiming they do not work.
Hopefully this is an incentive to have these reasonably priced

I think you can mine alt coins (PPC, ZET, TGC) instead of just BTC with this babies.
you could - but you can't buy anything with altcoins - they must be converted to BTC - and have no value by themselves
after the conversion you will get the same amount of BTC that you could have mined if you were mining them directly.

otherwise everyone would be mining alt-coins, and then their difficulty would go up etc.

Hence,
with high price on these sticks - it will never be worth buying for mining

unless you are a reseller on ebay - and if this is the case why doesn't bitmain sell this directly on ebay? why would they need us?

Profit margin is great when you consider you can easily move 2000+ of these for very little effort once it gets fabricated.  And that's first run, look at how many sticks GCat sold and at stupid prices because they were what was available.  Bitmain can do the same, just wish we had an update on any progress. :/

I'm not sure what makes anyone think these things will be reasonably priced considering the price of the S1 and how they flew off the shelves.  There are way too many suckers out there with money to throw away and the S1 sales showed them just how many.  I'm guessing we will probably see these go for somewhere between $199-$299 US and even more on Ebay.  Of course I won't be buying them for that price but they will sell out regardless.  I'll keep an eye out here, but I'm no longer holding my breath, already turned purple a few times.

I thought it fishy that Antminer was able to give a chip price so fast and not one for the USB. They also would figure 1.6gh won't cut it anymore. A dual chip running 3.2gh would probably cost them < $10 more but could double their profit. I don't think they have that.

The S1's are returning a huge profit margin and since no pictures of USB assembly lines were shown by sushi I wonder if they are being made? I wonder if the profit margin would be to tight to start it up? I hope my thinking is wrong.

Anyway, cxminerboy have a safe trip to HK. Have a good holidays. I hope you can check out their factory and see the USB lines in production. Thank you for your efforts.

Obviously some more concise engineering goes into a compact device than a larger one, but the delay on any info for the U1 units is getting absurd.  People are anxious for smaller, low powered units (most folks in the community can't afford a multi-TH unit, let alone the power requirements), yet we have nothing from GrilledCat, BFL pricing is a joke for shipping (and actually shipping) old gen units, most USBs out there are terribly overpriced...  U1's are like the shining beacon on the hill since there is nothing else reasonably priced, lower power, and most importantly available for purchase right now.

How about we start a discussion about the price we want for a single miner, and at the same time what we expect the price will be?
(as we all know, they're never the same)

Per the chip buy bulk pricing, chips work out to ~$10 a piece.  I think it is safe to assume that if AM can sell sticks for ~$20 at one point the hardware and fab prices can't be above, say, double that at $40 - total $50.  Even if they markup 50% that puts prices at $75.  Not speaking in BTC terms because even .1BTC at this point is absurd since it will never return that, especially with the next diff jump looming.

But still, no info, no pictures, no concrete specs, no eta, no response to PM's... no clue what Bitmain is doing except pushing out S1's that are now definitely overpriced (thanks, KNC Cheesy).
Yeah that kind of sounds right.
I just have this feeling that it will take quite some time before they're finally available, but by then, 1.6GH/s isn't worth that much anymore because of the crazy diff. (and so you'd expect quite a fair price to buy one)
But yeah... probably will still be around 0.1BTC if not more, because there will still be people buying them anyway.
