paypal dispute opened.  this thing is going back.  i thought only one capacitor fell off when it was two......not to mention a third that is missing all together.

i was thinking of selling on ebay instead of returning but I wouldn't even want to sell this to someone that doesn't know how to fix it or how to maintain it when other issues arise.

if anyone here wants to buy it for what i paid, didn't buy PSU but I have two of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153174.  We could discuss shipping terms but I think splitting shipping would be fair.  I would take either paypal or BTC.

PM me if interested.  I'm in New York.

Mine has been running stable at 1500 all week (230GHS), I upgraded the firmware to 20131229:
http://downloads.canaan-creative.com/software/avalon/20131229/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr703n-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
Updates the cgminer version to 3.9, I didn't really notice anything different but perhaps it would help people with problems.

Can u post detailed instructions on how you did that? Not a comp guy bit would love for this thing to get stable.

Just download that file (I used the one from ckolvas' repository, but they should be the same - I posted the link earlier too).  Then go to your Avalon page and System > Backup / Flash Firmware.  At the bottom is the option to flash a new firmware image.  Make sure you keep your old settings (checkbox above the "Choose File" button).  Then hit "Choose File" and point it to where you saved the binary, then accept that and click "Flash Image."  Voila'.  Then reboot.  You should be running 20131229 and cgminer 3.9.0 from now on.  Enjoy!

And they eat PSUs.  I'm up to two CoolMax 1000Us and one Power Gear 750 Neutron series - MicroCenter took them all back just fine.  Right now, I've got a beefy Corsair HX1050 in there and an OXZ Z-series 850W.  Should be set now.  Wink  Still chugging at ~230 GH/s running 1500 MHz several days now.

Dunno what kind of dirty draw they take, but it looks like you really need a PSU with plenty of protection built-in of all sorts.

[Firmware Version] => 20130923
cgminer: 48681dd
cgminer-openwrt-packages: 3527ce4
luci: 296b358
Socket connect failed: Connection refused

anyone know why tp-link says this after configuring the user?

Double check your worker/pool settings.  cgminer refuses to start up all the way if there aren't any valid pools specified, leading to that error message.

so, mtnminer was nice enough to spend some time on teamviewer with me and attempt to set up....we couldn't get it up and running.

The miner seems to be just fine. Each time, we moved the laptop to the 0 domain, then threw the miner on the 1 level and when we went back to default and tried to go there, but no go. even the pings came back host unreachable

afterwards, i reset the miner router and started from scratch, but no go.

i was able to access the miner and firmware on the 0 domain just fine...that miner just does not want to go to 1.

My next choice - move my router [which is on 1] to 0. Since my miner likes 0 so much.

Thoughts?
Have you setup gateway on you pc network properties?

On another side, yeah, if your miner likes o so much then just use it.

Following those instructions on the previous page, I set my laptop to 192.168.0.55
then found it at 0.10x
then set it to 1.21x
svaed it, then swithched back to auto
then looked at 1.2x for the miner and nothing.
router is 1.x

I just found the reset button and pressed it...maybe i can start from scratch again.
Any clue where I went wrong?

What ip did you set you miner to 192.168.0.?  or 192.168.1.?  and what address did you have you pc at when you were successfully connected to your miner 192.168.?.?  Do you know what I range your router is set too 192.168.?.?   If you can provide these details, perhaps I can help you diagnosis this issue.

Mtnminer

On the last step, you leave the miner set to an IP you choose, set you laptop or pc back to DHCP.  Then access the miner by putting it's ip into your browser.

I hope that helps

Mtnminer

Thanks. That was the last step I took. I set it to the IP that I selected. Then set my computer back to 'obtain auto' and then opened a browser and tried to go to the IP I set it to....nuthin.

And I don't see a reset button to change it back or a way to trip OpenWrt to failsafe.

I tried the angryip scanner and it didn't even show anything live at the IP # I created...and I tried anything that was live. Nuthin...
