Cheaper 1070s are happening because folks aren't buying them as "can't get RX series mining cards, they're the next best option" any more, not due to the 1070 ti introduction.
If anything, the 1070ti seems to be driving 1080 prices up a hair.

Mine isn't due 'till Monday (EVGA SC model) - will play around with it some then post data (like I did in a couple threads about the Vega 56 I just got today that is happily Mooing bigtime).

ethhash rates should be more or less similar to gtx 1070 (unless the RAM overclocks better than gtx 1070)
Equihash and core bound might give better results but so goes the power consumption.

Given that AMD "good ETH mining cards" have dropped back under $300, why is anyone looking at a 1070 to mine ETH with anyway?

1070 ti turning out to be equal to the 1070 is not exactly a big deal - and it was already known that the 1070 was probably memory-limited on ETH anyway, so it's not a shock.

Over 10% hashrate higher is "no difference between 16 and 19 compute units"?

What a STRANGE theory.

I was predicting that this card would fall between the 1070 and 1080 on performance on ZEC - no shock there.
It IS a bit lower than I was hoping for on ETH, apparently it is severely memory-limited - but no shock there too.

damn, thats kinda dissapointing, but i will await to see how mine do here.
I saw an article that said the best binned ones went into the ROG AG8 1070ti's, so i ordered them, hopefully see better results mining...

Zotac AMP Extreme are awesome cards. I have 1070 and it overclocks like a beast while running cooler than any card i've seen. It hardly ever goes to 60C. BBT did a review on the 1080 Ti

Thanks for sharing the testing results, they are disappointing for some people, but based on the tech specs i'm not surprised.
The card is made to battle Vega 56 on the market and that is it. Do you think nvidia will put a card that will challenge somehow 1080Ti for a lower cost?
I dont see that to happen like ever. The next big nvidia card that will topple 1080ti will be more expensive that 1080ti msrp for sure.
Maybe if AMD put something that is superior to 1080ti, the new nvidia card it will happen sooner, but by the looks of it we have to wait next year when Volta arrives.
