any suggestions on where I could purchase 5 or so Gridseeds? Looking to start ASIC mining with a Raspberry Pi.

Suggestions? Thanks

i have damaged my gridseed with a bad power supply...  Sad
Have someone the description from the damaged chip?

possibly i can repair that.

Is this amount of HW-errors normal?

Thanks in advance.

This is pool related my guess. Do you have the same hw rate on other pools? just curious.

I am mining with WafflePool for the last hour, 4 HW-errors till now. Way less compared to CleverMining (1225 / 17.5 hours = 70)

Could be, I didn't test other pools yet, Maybe I will test some today.

Just fyi, GAWMiner reached out to me earlier (11am EST) and I have sent all my pertinent information. His profile is:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/gaw-miners-293462

From all the tests I have done, joining different pools (2 pools), using different PCs (3 of them), three USB cables, 3 flavors or miners (cpuminer, bfgminer, cgminer) I finally conclude that my Gridseed is having issues, and/or, I am doing something wrong with my configuration.

The main isse that I found is, my seed will work for a time (say a couple of hours, hashing happily) then suddenly, the accepted shares stops. Restarting and rebooting doesnt necessarily work, but the most common error is (using the 3 miners), that the seed will accept 3 shares and no more. I can leave it for hours, and it won't make a difference.

The good: GAW reached out
The bad: I don't have anything else that works so I can further test.

I am having similar issue

However, I can only run at 750 or 775 frequency... 800 stops after a few minutes and 850 doesn't accept any shares at all

Does anyone know if this is a faulty unit or what else it could be?

Hi Guys,

I have my new gridseed rig up and running for almost 24 hours now, but I am having a lot of HW-errors.

- I am not overclocking anything
- The miners are placed in a air conditioned server room

You guys should really try the new LightningAsic V3c miner software if you haven't already, it's designed to do one thing and one thing only, to get the most out of your Gridseed miners. If you don't have a Tp-link 703N, they are really cheap to get on eBay @ ~$20. Definitely worth the investment.

Hi pistachio, thanks for the reply. I see in your sig that your support gawminer, I actually got this from GAW just to test out before getting the bigger miners. But this experience is very frustrating very lately. I spent my time troubleshooting and babysitting this rather than running it. Comparing it to my ants, I spent less time, my ants are up and running in less than an hour with full hashing capability.

This is true. I do miss the simplicity of ants. I sold all of my ants to buy these Gridseed miners and they have been a constant headache. It looks like a TP-link 703N with the new lightningASIC firmware might solve your problems for $25-$35. I ordered one of these to see how it does compared to the stock LightningASIC controllers. I will post results later this week. This is the one I ordered, http://www.ebay.com/itm/221325209638?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649.

Thank you for the suggestions. For what it's worth, I have seen your reply about USB cable and have used 3 kinds which I know are working cables. I have spent the next 2 hours testing and I got the same results as before.

I do hope that GAWMiner did not send me a known-defective part to an unsuspecting newbie, and I just got an extremely bad luck. After waiting for 5-6 days for this to arrive, GAWMiner is quickly earning my anger. I have tried running these in stock (non overclocked, non modded) way, even lowering the frequency and the results are just abominable. My experience has been really bad so far. I know a lot others has been lucky, and I am in the minority (maybe even the only one). But still, I just wanna share this experience to all. My screenshots at the previous page remains the same and my BFG get stuck requesting for update. All this seed do is request update, get a few, then drops the hashing process onwards not picking up anymore.

I am throwing in the towel, and ditching GAWMiner. Maybe it is not their fault, but after trying out so many ways and means to make this work, considering it's just one piece, I am not getting any more from them unless they compensate me for this.

Hardware can sometimes be defective with no fault of the reseller. I'm not a big fan of GAW, but I think if you contact them they will replace it. Bad luck, yes, but no need to get frustrated yet.

G'day fellow miners!

I've been running my miners wide open with FIFO Buffers turned OFF in Windows 7 with great success!
No comm port failures. No unexpected crashes anymore.
My miners have been running stably without FIFO buffers running.

It occurred to me, based on what I've learned about comm port buffers, 16550 UART etc., that our miners do not need their data checked or routed around or delayed or moved or channeled etc. They certainly don't need any delay of any kind in their data streams between the pool and them.

So, after using various FIFO settings earlier which did increase time between failures where the miner just stops producing completed work (!yay!), looks like trying NO FIFO Buffers at all is the trick we are all looking for to keep these buggers from going to sleep on us while we are not monitoring them.

The mod that I performed on all of my miners is working great. They are all stably overclocked at 1200MHz and hashing nicely with great results pool side - where it counts! $$$$

So if your miners are still crashing, give this a try and see if it helps.
I don't know for sure, but I think cgminer and bfgminer may use FIFO's too. If they are, perhaps that is what is causing the same problem with them. Check with your local cg-bfg tech guru.

I hope this works for you as well as it is for me.

If any of you want your GS5 miners modified, please PM me and I'll be happy to help you get it done!
My work is 100% guaranteed against failure and if I do accidentally brick your pod, I will replace it at my own expense. Turn around is generally less than 48 hours after I receive your shipment.

You WILL see improved hash rates, decreased time to ROI / higher per-miner profits per hour!
I'm located in the Washington DC Metropolitan area.
An example of my work can be seen here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.6058919

Thank you and good luck with your mods!

My current peak performance figures pool side with just 6 miners...

When will you answer my PM? Interested.

Thank you for the nudge!
Sorry about that. I just returned your PM. Wink

My original post: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.6077816

I have tried CPUminer, which works for a few minutes, after which, it won't accept shares. I left it running last night and checked it this morning. The graph at givemecoins.com which gives a minute/hour activity of the miner shows that I was accepting shares for 5min, and then it flat out bottom and never picks up anymore after the next 5Hrs.

The next 3hrs now after waking up, I have also tried using different USB2/3 ports, and have tried using my beefiest PC using cpuminer (I used my Core i5 laptop and Core i7 desktop) with similar results: 67Kh on BFGminer consistently, cgminer crash time and again (on all 3 PCs with Zadig WinUSB driver), have tried reassigning COM port and playing with baud rates. I am starting to think I got a lemon seed and this is very frustrating.

Try switching out your USB cables and maybe try a straight litecoin pool. The following pool seems to be stable right now https://www.liteguardian.com. The payout is about the same as profit based pools.
