Ok, I have switched back to sgminer from xmr-stak-2.0. Sgminer gives me slightly more hashes (2602h/sec vs 2590h/sec average) and my rig uses a bit less power with sgminer (345 vs 350 Watt). Also it has 0% dev fee vs 1% for xmr-stak.
It's not meant for stable mining. You can disable fees when building in donate-level.h. You might tried 2 threads and also play with intensity, it seems to be different from AMD version.

I tried the --nocpu parameter, but it does not exist:

[2017-10-21 19:02:15] : Parameter unknown '--nocpu'
Press any key to exit.

Back to sgminer again  Grin

UPDATE: Wow, the correct parameter is '--noCPU' (https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak/blob/dev/doc/usage.md#command-line-options), case-sensitive... on Windows! What do you know.
I've updated the instructions for XMR-STAK, I haven't tried it without CPU yet Cheesy The hashrate is little bit lower then with XMR-STAK-AMD, but it's only pre-release. I will update Windows binary every week if there will be changes.

I tried the new xmr-stak but not sure how multiple threads work

I tried 6 threads on 3 cards but got weird results followed by crash

3 Vega Fe with 64GB ram

5.6 MH/s  Grin Grin Grin , pity it wasn't real!

https://www.imageupload.co.uk/image/DOE7

currently running 3 gpu threads at 2016 for 4350

I played around with other higher numbers but kept locking up
That would be great Cheesy
There are VEGA recommended values for XMR-STAK for 2 threads in the VEGA thread.
This is unofficial pre-release... it might not be stable enough.

Ok, so I tried it, but had some struggles. First it didn't start properly, because there was a part missing in the generated amd.txt about "gpu_thread_num". Luckely I had my old config file so I could add this part to the amd.txt config. But then I noticed that this new miner also uses my CPU and I couldn't find where to turn this off. It also complains about "Memory alloc failed: virtualAlloc failed" errors all the time. I have LARGE PAGE SUPPORT configured properly. Overall my hashrate went down from 2600 h/sec to 1800 h/sec so I am back to sgminer.
Yeah, I will add these instructions. Just make bat file with --nocpu, I wrote about the problem with gpus thread just put the line from instructions here to the AMD.txt and change number of cards or thread if you use 2 threads.

Did you build this yourself? I switched recently from xmr-stak-amd to sgminer, because xmr-stak-amd was just 'freezing' after a while. It's just like people are mentioning in https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak-amd/issues/110. Sgminer doesn't seem to crash, at least not since i started it. I really liked xmr-stak-amd because of the webinterface and the statistics. However, i see that issue 110 is still open, so i am not sure if i should try xmr-stak again. It is really annnoying to see that my rig is eating electricity, but no hashes are generated.

Yes I've built it, it has some bugs, this bug occured also in seperate versions sometimes. You may try it now, we fixed some build problems, download again.

Hi ya all, pardon my ignorance being a newbie in xmr,

Just a curious question, is it normal in sgminer-gm 5.5.5 mining xmr with poworcolor rx470 4g(elpida) clocking 1106@2025  to have such a big difference in hash rate(-20%) in the same hardware different os, same config --rawintensity 752 -w 8 -g 2,

windows10(beta blockchain 11aug)
 avg 861h/s each gpu
linux ubuntu 17.04(dagfix installed)
 avg 695h/s each gpu

while mining ethereum, I got 30mh/s in windows, a fraction bit lower 29.6mh in linux with the same conditions.

Please lead me to the right direction and point me out what could be wrong?

Thank you so much.

Having same problem. You can put higher intensity, but gpu threads does nothing in linux, at least for me.
Thank you Christiano88, indeed ri 896 give it a lil boost, still a distance away

i get around 925hs 1130/2050 approx 85-90w for the whole gpu for a sapphire 470 8g
That's very good, what miner do you use?

sgminer 5.5.5 gm

What parameters do you use under linux? I get 1k on windows with sgminer, but a lot less on linux with same parameters: ri 896, w 8, g 2. Found that gpu threads don't really have an effect in linux (it's like it's stuck to 1).
