This is not an ISIS doing. If it is he would shot every person he sees, but not right? This is just a one person who wants to rob Resorts World but did not succeed.

Pulse in Orlando suddenly comes to mind. Heck, even if you were just tanning on the beach, that already infuriates them. Just look at the bombing in Bali.

And that was already in the less conservative area, which was traditionally Hindu. I remember when Indonesia hosted Miss World, they have to move it to Bali from some other city to avoid protesters. The world is becoming more fundamentalist.

Indonesia is a classic example of how the Saudi petrodollars have converted a peaceful moderate Muslim-majority nation to a heaven for religious fanatics. The ISIS is also trying to get a foothold there.

We just hope that ISIS will not get a hold of Indonesia. I haven't heard any news though regarding ISIS movement there.

Indonesia is having the largest Muslim population in the world, although the Muslims there are more moderate when compared to those in Arabia, India.etc. Such a region will never escape attention from the ISIS. They will try hard to create chaos there, although it is too early to say whether they will be successful or not.

It was death caused by panic and chaos. If you think about it, the people that rushed outside probably care more about themselves, and that's just human nature. It would be hard to change that but sometimes there would be people who are altruistic in nature. It's really senseless and I've heard in the news that some funeral homes took advantage of it, and that's just greediness I think.

I think the death are not just about the panic and chaos, it is about hiw the buildings so closed that there are no way people can get out, which I think is not a good part of the building, as you've know, people mostly died because of suffocation.

But going back to the Philippines, I think ISIS are really trying hard to get their hands and established themselves here. The government is really getting its hands full of protecting us. Malls, Airports and Business District and all other places are being carefully guarded by the police so prevent another bombing or attacks by this group. We really need to be vigilant nowadays and be careful not to go out at night. They are really sowing terror in our country.

If ISIS will be setting their foot and making a base there, obviously the Indonesian Government will be taking them down, and I think Philippines will be helping them because if they set a base there,Philippines will be in a bad situation.

Truly panic and chaos are the main cause of death of those people. To add, according to the news and other resources. No one died due to Gunshot. About the funeral homes they held the corpses in days due to the reason that the management of RWM didn't coordinate it with them. But according to RWM, They already gives out the go signal for the transfer of the bodies. It's so sad to watch that the Families of those victims waited for 3-4 days and some are begging just to let them to transfer their son, daughter, relative from their selected funeral services. This is purely insane and inhuman.

Maybe I wasn't just watching news, never heard of this. If this was true, then this was awful.  Embarrassed

Just what I have said before, this is a casino, the security here should be tighter than a bank. And PAGCOR has released a memo after the Marawi siege that they should increased their security because of the incident. But RW did not head this call and they are still manning security at the entrance with no guns. Heck they will frisk your balls to see if you have carrying something with you, but when the gunman arrived with guns blazing, what did they do? They all run to save their sorry asses. That's why people lost their lives here.

True. PAGCOR released that memo knowing that casinos, along with hotels, bars, beach resorts and theaters, are favorite targets of Islamists. Resorts World is a premiere hotel/casino, and probably one of the high-end in the industry here before the entry of competitors like City of Dreams. There was no excuse for them to not immediately heed the memo.

Adding to that, there were similar incidents just a few months back. Remember the ISIS attack on the Reina nightclub in Istanbul? The Islamists are frequently targeting places such as bars and nightclubs, where they think that "immoral" activities are going on.

The gunman was just from our place, he was actually a man known for gambling and he was a bigtime gambler. He was left by her wife and 2 kids for his doings. I think his life become miserable since then he should have been good for those days he was with his family. I felt sad for this man but those who was killed by his actions they need justice.

Just to add. The gunman used to work for Department of Finance. Where he was fired due to wrong declaration and unexplained details of Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth. Also, according to one of my friend *who is a dealer at RWM* the gunman was a good and generous man. He's a good tipper according to my friend. But, Gambling is gambling. Due to his addiction, I think at some point he loan from a person *syndicate* or high roller but unfortunately he lost it all. His actions are purely an act of desperation. He is so desperate to regain what he lost and at the same time to repay what he loan. But, the funny thing here is that he walks freely in the entrance and into a room where they store the chips. Not to jump in to conclusion, What I see here is that he might have an accomplice and the heist against RWM *this is just my theory on what happen*.

My condolences to the family. They might be alive if RWM securities and PNP took into consideration all the information given to them by the survivors.
I hope that the families of whom killed at RW attack, Will get what's right for them.

That is what I'm saying all along. If Resorts World security was quick enough to response to this kind of situation, lives could have been saved. I haven't followed the story this past few days as I was out busy with other things, but I saw a glimpse from the news the other day and the lady guard who is manning her post in the entrance and try to stop the man, said that he radio for help. But then when everything breaks lose, even the personnel who is manning the "eye in the sky" ran. So when the police arrived, there was no one to talk to and see where the person is at the very moment. That is why I'm so frustrating and ranting about the security of the casino. Good thing I don't frequent RW anymore and moved to City of Dreams (COD) or Solaire.

With the amount of money at various casinos, i think they should be allowed security to fully repel attacks from armed individuals, if these kind of security is approved, no one will dare rob a casino.

This is so true now.
Gambling can ruin your life and your entire families lives if not put some sort of control to it.
Because obviously people are not capable of controlling their bad habits such as this one on their own.
They all need help before it gets to far like this has shown as a tragic example for all to witness around the world. Embarrassed

Gambling is just like drug addiction. We all know that it is bad, but it is not possible to stop it completely. If the government bans it, then the gambling scene will move underground. In the end, there will be zero benefits, and the government will lose valuable tax money. Also, if it moves to the grey zone, then the gambling sector becomes very difficult to monitor.
A grey zone?
Well it shouldn't be then and all casinos AROUND THE GLOBE should be regulated due to this incident having happened and innocent lives lost. And no matter if they are trying to hide from the laws with positioning themselves in places that their govenrments turn a blind eye too like in Montenegro or Central America where they are not paying any sort of taxes thus not being regulated.

I still think that it wasn't a terrorist act because from my understanding, the gunman did not attempt to shoot at the civilians. Also, he tried to steal approximately 13 million worth of casino chips. What was the use of stealing the chips? He was probably so depressed from the lost that he went his hysterical. It was obviously planned because he intended to burn the tables and himself, and even got a hotel room nearby. A terrorist act would have killed much more individuals, with the intention to scare the public.

This event however shows how the mall had poor fire safety and protection because many died from suffocation.

Its was not a terrorist act at all. It's just a coincidence that it happened after the siege in Marawi. Yeah, a lot of civilians died because of suffocation, Resort Worlds permit has been cancelled already by the Pagcor. Insider Information: I have a nephew who now works with Pagcor (Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation)and he say's that it released a memo telling all casino's operated should tighten their security because of what happened to Marawi. But I guess RW didn't heed the call. If they just have tightened their security, lives should not have been lost in this tragedy. And speaking of  the chips, it will be no used to say to steal them, why? because the casino will change it anyway, and the chips that have been stolen should be of no used.

Right now, it seems like the attacker was not connected to any of the major terrorist organizations. But some questions still remain unanswered. How did this guy managed to get a machine gun? Are guns so easily available in the Philippines?
It's now certain that the gunman is just a guy that went nuts after losing a big amount. Linking him to any terror group like isis has been put out of the question and it seems obvious that there are no intentions to kill people. There have been released security videos that can clearly give anyone an idea of what really happened. And the guy apparently lose millions in a casino so he may have been well-off prior to that for him to be able to purchase a high powered fire arm.

It is sad that it have to end that way.  He was a gambling addict and no one have stopped him that attitude.  I think, his family have a greater reaponsibility beyond any other because they are the one who should give strong advice to fathers who have been a victim of addiction.  Nobone was there during the dark times of his life.  Terrorism should not be linked here, it was a purely addiction made by a certain man.
