Seven years ago, on May 22nd 2010, 2 pizzas were bought for 10'000 bitcoins, say USD 21 millions as of today.

http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-pizza-day-celebrating-pizza-bought-10000-btc/

After a terrific roll, I wouldn't be surprised if it trades at 20'000$ in 7 years!

This is an exciting and wonderful news to all of us bitcoiners. But I do wonder if that pizza house have not sold all of his bitcoins then he will be a millionaire today but if he has sold them all then he would have regret it. I am just curious is that pizza shop still existing today? I hope it does since it has become a historical place for bitcoin.

Would be fun to know if the pizza seller kept his 10'000 bitcoins or sold them for 30$ days later !!!
He probably sold them, you can look at the address of the original transaction here:
https://blockchain.info/address/17SkEw2md5avVNyYgj6RiXuQKNwkXaxFyQ

This is Lazlo's address, 81000 Bitcoins spent on pizza in total, he mentions it in another thread.

Time flies so fast, well spending 10k bitcoins for a couple of pizzas i think it was affordable at that time, but seriously not only that pizza but also there are many stuffs that the early adopter spent for it when the price was really low, maybe in many years later bitcoin that we have spent right now would be like lazlo's story. Anyway lazlo's thread should be pinned or maybe create a wax replica of that pizza for Madame Tussaud Museum, If i were lazlo i would be shock if he didn't buy those pizzas he would be a millionere.

If i were the person who sent 10,000 bitcoin for a pizza then it will bug my mind everyday because that is like betting on a lottery and burning the paper and in the next few weeks you will find out that you actually win the lottery. This is also a good example for the importance of patience because this word called patience will help us to become better and make better decisions.

Anyhow it's good to have a bitcoin pizza day celebration. Soon by the years to come when bitcoin and Virtual currency becomes more popular we can see most of the stores accepting bitcoin making bitcoin pizza day sale with more discounts. Lets cheer up on this day to get a small portion of the highly valuable pizza.

All I can say is that if I was the person who made that purchase, I would literally be shooting myself in the head right now. But, he probably still does have quite a lot of Bitcoin if he bought the pizzas for 10k Bitcoin.

HAPPY BITCOIN PIZZA DAY.

That is when bitcoin starts Smiley Its value is too small, there is a question here, has anyone stored it up to the present time? It was a long time for a business plan, and if so, maybe now he is an extremely wealthy person, a profit worth the wait.

Ha, ha, I completely forgot about that. That was one of the moments in Bitcoins history to remember. That was probably the most expensive pizza in the world, hope it was worth it.
Thank you for reminding us on this, I'm sure many people don't know about it or have forgotten.

Happy bitcoin pizza day!

I'm using mobi wallet at the moment and they've sent me a notification regarding bitcoin pizza day - thats how i know today is the day, otherwise i would have certainly forgot Cheesy

The pizza is now worth $23 million dollars.... If remember correctly he bought 2 pizzas from papa johns so thats $11.5 million each. Nobody really knows what happened to the coins afterwards, hopefully the seller held the bitcoins because he deserved to be rewarded as the first known transaction for a tangible item in bitcoin history Cheesy

Wow. This is part of the Bitcoin history that is really popular and I am not fully aware that this pizza transaction is recorded here in this great forum. Indeed, this is a nostalgic look at the way Bitcoin is so successful as the king of the digital currency and the one that started it all. How lucky are those who made a gamble to buy Bitcoin at its early stage and hold them no matter what...they must be millionaires today.

The most expensive pizza...true!

Thanks for sharing the original thread, I wasn't aware of it!

No prob glad you enjoyed reading it, heliacal is down now sort of being pizza day and the way back machine has robot txt on that page so might be worth saving a few snapshots of it for future generations if other people are collectors of pizza pictures Tongue.

http://www.heliacal.net/~solar/bitcoin/pizza/
It still loads though after a few tries.

http://www.cnbc.com/2017/05/22/bitcoin-price-hits-fresh-record-high-above-2100.html
While being worth $30 at the time, Hanyecz pizzas would now cost $21.8 million at current bitcoin prices or 10.4 million for one.
If you bought $100 of bitcoin at the 0.003 cent price on May 22, 2010, you'd now be sitting on around $72.9 million

in the future maybe most of us already rich and already got stable life style, bitcoin is a huge success, thanks OP for allowing us to know
that pizza day 7 years ago and learn to hold for another 7 years and expect for more value.

It seems that everyone is now more concern about the potential activation of Segwit within weeks(??). I hope the "rumour" is true and I think most likely the pizzas will become even more expensive retrospectively!!
