Hi guys.

I want your opinion in nicehash now since they got hacked/whatever. I feel its really profitable when you can move funds freely to coinbase and then to GDAX with free withdraw. Seems like its one of the better options right now, or am i missing something?

Apart from high withdrawal fees (if not transferring to Coinbase).... its an easy and quick to sell hash power to buyers.

Which pool, which coin ... its quite tiring this chasing game... so if you want an easy way to accumulate BTC, yeah NH is a good place to be.

Yeah I'm at a point where I just throw everything at nicehash. I get slogged the full 5% fee which is annoying, but I will acquire more hash-rate to be able to mine 0.1 BTC within 4 days so that the fee is reduced to 3%.

From what I can tell, you pay 2% to nicehash wallet and to get it out of there you pay the network fee of 0.001 BTC - which probably totals 3% anyway.

I didn't know that it was free to coinbase - I will have to look into it.

Cryptonight in particular has been paying wayyy higher than ordinary XMR rates for a few weeks now. Equihash is quite strong as well.

Have you tried using Mining Pool Hub with "Autoswitch" (to automatically convert a mined coin to another... such as BTC)?  I haven't been able to do a scientific comparison, but comparing 8 days on NH to 8 days on MHP I've found MHP has a higher return and lower fees.  So I'm interested in your point of view.

Believe it or not, the miner supply issue is continuing to worsen.  Not only are essentially all good mining cards gone (off retail market anyway), but now it is nearly impossible to find any mining mobo (that supports 6+ GPUs) and it's even carried over into the PSU market, where 1000-1300W PSUs typically used for mining are mostly gone.  This continues to baffle me, but I guess just goes to prove that the majority of the world still either doesn't know about or doesn't believe in the longevity of crypto. To me, this shortage seems worse than the one back in Q2'17.

The really crazy thing is not that 3rd parties are trying to price gouge (not completely against this actually, as everyone deserves a chance to make a legal buck) but it's the fact that there are a lot of people actually paying these 2x, 3x, even 4x retail prices for components.  Here are a few I have observed lately:

- 6-pack of rx 570 8gb sold on ebay for $3,400! That's close to $600/card lol, or 50% more than retail for a Vega-56 lol.
- Several USED Vega 56's selling on ebay for over $900!
- Many mining Mobo's with retail prices at or below $100 are going for over $300!

I actually ordered an Asus Prime Z270-a from Amazon for $150 but it's not in stock and no indication of when it will be in stock. I actually have another ASRock BTC board but was looking to build my next rig with an 1151 chip i got for half price. Plus, I like the the idea of easily being able to accomodate 7 GPUs with a relatively easy path to an 8th via the M2 slot.  So, end-state goal would be 7-8 1070ti/1080 with my 1500W Plat PSU. of course, I only currently have 4 70ti's but more have to come in stock eventually... don't they? ;-)

not to disagree, all sounds right, but i've got
Asus Z170-AR mobo (6 slots, not sure if you can run all six, opinions vary) at Microcenter for $79 minus $40 MIR.
It was a few weeks ago, though, before eth went crazy again.
Not the best mobo, but will do for a small built of 1070ies.
I am out of power in everything except dishwasher/dryer.

Maybe I should entice wifie to buy a double decker washer/dryer (LG or something), then I would have both space and power (220V even) to run a couple more rigs Wink

Yeah, I have heard mixed views on that Asus z170 and i dont want to risk building on a "problem" board for fear of potentially wasting many hours trying to get over 4 GPus running on it.  Plus, I am not lucky to live anywhere near a Microcenter and pretty much every decent piece of gear I've found on there... well, pretty much ever... has been limited to in-store purchase/pickup only. Makes me wonder why they even have a friggin website but whatever lol.

I am also still awaiting an electrician's assessment of my house's capabilities. I am currently running 4 rigs and based on my limited understanding and an analysis of my breaker box, pretty sure I can get a modest rig added in my garage. but that will only work until maybe June as there is no ventilation in there.

Also, if I feel confident I have enough power to add that garage rig, I might just go ahead and build it on that ASRock H81 BTC that I already have. Since I only have 4 1070ti's anyway it wouldn't make a difference and at least I could get it up and running and not have to wait for that 1151 Mobo to arrive.  If I go that route then i could eventually use the 1151 Mobo to build a 7-8x 570 rig.  Lots to think about... crazy thing is that i have partial components to build 3 rigs but not 1 would be "complete". But I think first priority is getting those 1070ti's online.

Regarding ASUS Prime Z-170AR, I haven't had any problems with 7 x 1070SC cards over the past 5 months.  I only wish it had space for one more!  It was one useless PCI rather than a PCIE slot.  But the M.2 is open to add a 7'th.

Where are you buying new cards, guys?
I checked both newegg and microcenter.
At newegg, there are only crazy prices starting with $950-1000 for 1070 and there is literally nothing at Microcenter.

Hell, I checked 3 different Best Buys in the Tampa area yesterday and all I found was a single RX 560 (which I bought, though felt kind of stupid for doing so). Worse, though, is that there was an empty box for a GTX 1080 that said "Purchase at register" so I took the box to the register only to find out that, nope, they are out of stock.

Le sigh...

I discovered this case, Thermaltake Core X5 ATX Cube Chassis, can hold up to 8 GPUs.

https://pcpartpicker.com/b/hx29TW

Going by the specs, it might even fit the Onda 8 GPU Motherboard?

http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model_Specification.aspx?id=C_00002806

The cases from China will me cost way too much because of shipping to Canada ($180+ per case).

So, I got one of these cases for less than $ 200 CDN. It's depth is just a bit too short for the Onda 8 GPU Mobo. ( I still have my dead Onda MoBo.) Anyway, I will use it with my 7 GPU MSI 170A Pro Carbon MoBo rig.  There's lots of room to add fans to cool everything.

I  ordered the Thermaltake Core X9 ( $230 CDN) and will try it out for size with the Onda 8 GPU MoBo. If it fits, I will buy another Onda 8 slot board. If not, I can still use it for my 12 GPU Biostar MoBo and likely put 10+ GPUs in this case.
I put together a rig with the Core X9.  Used a standard motherboard with risers and have (4) GTX 1080 Ti hybrid cards with the radiators mounted to the roof of the case.  Still lots of room left over.  I'm pretty sure the Onda board will fit in there.  I'll post some pics of the build if you're interested.

what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?

Out of interest, has any of you tried a riserless board with non-blower-style GPUs? Surely they're too close to eachother to work efficiently, i.e. heat cross-contamination must be terrible?...

sorry for poor picture just wanted to get something up quick to show the spacing.

I plan on doing the same with the octominer motherboard, but I'm not sure when I'm going to get it. I have 8 GPUs on the way, does anybody know where to buy the Onda?

The supplier I bought my Onda from is sold out - and the price on the listing is now twice what I paid. That said, the Octominer board looks better overall anyway.

I will be doing just that - and yes, they are awfully close together. I'm planning on using supplemental fans to blow air either down onto the cards or across from the side opposite where the video jacks are.

Marvel2 has some available:

or you can order them here (same Chinese seller many on this thread are using):

A 30 amp monitored pdu is the way to go. Look for a used one. It's nice to be able to switch your rigs on/off remotely.

Hey guys, I've got electricians coming out this week to hopefully upgrade my main panel.

Does anyone here use PDUs and have any suggestions for them? Worth it? Or more worth just running outlets?

I have non blower style GPU's on my one board, but i have them spaced out with an open slot in between them.

so this probably doesnt help you a ton.

some riserless boards by onda have more spacing than others. the b250 d8p v1 has 2.5 spacing, some other models ive seen are only 2.

the d8p gives a decent amount of room between cards if they are double wide. i still use fans to force more air through though. all non blower type cards here.
