We need more holidays not near January 1.  I like the day the paper was published.

For now, I'm leaving Dec 12th in my calendar.  I'll try to hold off on the fliers until we come to more of a consensus...

Dec 12th coming up soon... anyone other than me celebrating this as Satoshi Nakamoto Day?

It's possible I missed a memo where we voted or something, haha.

I chose June 7 in honor of Alan Turing's death: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Turing

That's not really something to celebrate. May 15th, Jerry Falwell's death, I could see, but...

Maybe you're right. Let's just add 16 days to it to celebrate his birth--June 23.

I would also suggest to use another day. e.g. release date of first Bitcoin version or something like that because we dont know if that was the last post of satoshi.

Then I suggest June 7. Why the 7th of June? Google it to find the answer. Hint: It's computer related.

The First Crusade: The Siege of Jerusalem begins?
Mohandas Gandhi's first act of civil disobedience?
Priscilla Presley opens Graceland to the public?
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of Al-Qaeda in Iraq, is killed in an airstrike by the United States Air Force?

Oh, wait, you said computer related... Is it

Sony introduces the Betamax videocassette recorder for sale to the public? I hope you don't think that's representative of Bitcoin  Tongue
Or is it the sun blowing up last year and screwing up a bunch of satellites?

I stumped the Ras!

Should be July 6th. That's his birthday. I got the info here:

It mentions cash + txn fees, but I couldn't find a public key anywhere.

On December 12, 2010, 12:22:33 PM (local), Satoshi Nakamoto, founder of Bitcoin, penned his last post on this forum. We'll now pay homage to this man by declaring today Satoshi Nakamoto Day, marking the one year anniversary of his last communication to us.

What he left for us is an ideology, and all who've followed his path are his descendants, his legacy lies with them and all those who'll soon follow.

In honnor of Satoshi Nakamoto, I shall post this declaration at the exact minute and, hopefully, second to correspond with the timestamp of his last post.

If he writes another message, doesn't that just screw up everything. Wouldn't his first known message be a better day? Sorta like the birth of bitcoin (or at least conception).

I purposely saved this spot for further comments, thus allowing the OP to stand on its own merits. This post will be updated shortly will a nice surprise. Thank you.

Bruno

PS: I was only off my 2 seconds.

Still waiting...

This is my bad--sort of! I truly thought that #2 post was axed by the mods. I came back to this thread the next day after starting this tread, read posts, but somehow I missed it. I think I see how I could have done that now. After the OP is that space for ads. I saw that, skimmed over #2 post thinking that that's not it, then wondering where it went. I assumed incorrectly it was gone therefore, I guess, it is my bad with no 'sort of' to it. Now what was the question? Oh, yea!

Now that it's there, though it never left, I need to get right on this. I'm a tad tired now and wouldn't articulate properly for what I've envisioned. It's kind of neat, and will go hand-in-hand with Bitcoin100. Allow me to try to get it up tomorrow, JW. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I truly never meant to leave anybody hanging.

He doesn't exist. The network created itself. Any writings by him are the accidental result of an infinite number of monkeys typing on the same keyboard. Shakespeare be damned.
