wondering what the lowest official softcap ever was?
it depends on their team that has determined the limits of the soft cap. some are only $ 1-5 million to determine softcap limits.

What is the difference of hard cap to soft cap? Did we base on this if we are going to invest in altcoins? Share your comments.
A hard cap means the maximum amount of funding and soft cap is a minimum amount needed to the project. In other words this caps is the fundraising goals that evaluate the ICO. Yes we have to base on this things and read the information in the thread, website and roadmap and saw it on twitter/facebook before you invest altcoins because this steps can help you to get a good profit.

Soft cap in an ICO simply means the minimum amount the ICO planned to raise while hard cap is the maximum amount to be raised in the ICO. Some ICO continue with their project even if they did not reach soft cap while some abandon the project because of not reaching soft cap.

The difference is the number of tokens sold from a project with a certain nominal amount. Of course, every investor must see the prospect of a project before the investment and the prospect can be seen from how quickly the token has been sold.

So the difference is that when we deal with soft cap it is the initial amount that the dev needs to proceed with the project, if this amount was hit then it can proceed because they have enough funding while if the dev achieved to have the maximum cap that can be assured that a lots of promising things will
happen to such project if the team is really serious so every thing that the team offers will be funded and will keep on progressing.

Soft cap is the amount of money that developers need to run the project. And hard cap is the amount they need to keep it's development. If ICO haven't collected soft cap, don't invest in it Grin

It's pretty much simple facts...

A soft cap will be the minimum amount of funds that an ICO requires to proceed with completion of the project and to be considered "successful". These funds will be needed to get the main stages of the roadmap completed. ICO's usually create a crowdfunding sale period and usually this amount is reached.

A hard cap is the maximum amount of funds that the ICO aims to collect via the crowdfunding period. If the ICO does not take advantage of the advertisement and social marketing side of things, then the hard cap will probably not be reached, especially if the hard cap is quite high as recent ICO's tend to do. In most cases, if the hard cap is reached then the project will stop accepting funds.

The soft cap is the capital amount gathered at which the crowdsale event will be considered successful. It is the minimal amount of funds needed and aimed at by the project to proceed as planned. Most of the projects reach their soft caps because an Initial Coin Offering is currently one of the best ways to kick start a project and to raise capital.

The hard cap of an ICO means the maximum amount of capital that it aims to gather. Most of the up and coming cryptocurrency projects set the hard cap very high. Most of the set hard caps are unlikely to be reached. But famous or hyped projects do reach it with ease. The hard cap is the number of the maximum capital needed and projects will mostly stop accepting additional funding after the hard cap.

The hard hat is the capital amount raised by this ICO project, and the soft cap is the minimum amount of fund raised by this ICO project. If it is lower than the Soft hat, it means that the ICO project has failed.

question - if the ICO doesn't gain a soft cap, it doesn't reach the minimum amount, what then? Is the project dying?

It depends on the project, sometimes it just dies, sometimes they organise a second ICO later on, after having upgraded their communication and marketing for example..

Soft caps are pre sale targets while hard caps are the main ico targets. When soft caps are reached in an ico projects then the project is half successful. The team will now move to the hard cap which when reached means that the project is fully successful and every one will be happy.

The soft cap is the minimum limit to be reached when raising funds during an ICO. If not achieved, the funds are returned to the respective investors. The hard cap is the higher limit which if reached, the ICO ends. It is the total issuance of a coin that will be created. The coin distribution cannot exceed this amount. If the hard cap is too high, the value of the coin will become diluted, causing a drop in the integrity and value of the network. A hard cap is important to have.

the soft cap is the minimum of money that needs to be collected in order for the project to go further. accordingly, a hard cap is a maximum of money. some companies finish the project before the deadline, if the hard cap is assembled earlier.

The difference in hard cap and in soft cap is that the soft cap is the minimum amount of fund to be raised before considering the ICO to be a success while hardcap is the total amount the team targets for them to fully function and cover the plans they have included in the white paper.

it's like a min and max. the lowest price to declare a successful ICO and the maximum amount they would raise.

i think it's best to invest on the nature of the project. the amounts raised are also important but as we see these days there are some crazy project that raise a ton of money.

Hard cap and softcap is maxiumum/minumun fund that an ico will get in that ico.
If ico reach softcap, means ico success and people will get tokens soon. But if ico dont reach softcap, ico maybe cancelled.
If ico reach hardcap, no more fund can be received by that ico. But if ico dont reach hardcap and softcap is reached, then nothing happen.
