My own be say whether you work smart or you work hard, without dedication and discipline you can never attain success in whatever you are doing. Hard work pays and working smartly also pays. In our society today due to corruption, hardworking people are no longer encouraged. Corruption is taking over society in the name of working smart. Most youths are no longer willing to learn hand work all in the name of them working smart. And when dey see people wey dey work hard them go dey discourage them say this country no really need people wey dey work hard. My own be say stick to what's working for you as we all get different grace. Where e work for you no fit be the same place e go work for another person.

Hard work: working unnecessarily, work that isn't worth it. It can be illustrated using instances like reading the entire handout when you can read and focus on the important parts.

Smart work: working effectively in order to attain the best output or benefit. Focusing on the important parts instead of reading everything. No forget say you go still attend lectures, make you get ideas from lecturer, you go still read that handout everyday, do assignments, watch videos for better understanding and many others.

Now the thing be say, person fit think say people weh dey work smartly, just dey do short cut. Abeg, know the difference between smart work and shortcut because them no be the same thing. Even as you dey work smart, you go still work hard, you go still suffer. So no think say smart work na free way, cause e no be free way at all.

I don't know were you derived your theory, because from the beginning even in the primary school and secondary what you see teachers and lecturers lament for low students is that is not a hardworking type so for you to do well in school and also be one of the brilliant students you most be academically sound and again with your hardwork and how you are creative you will do well in anything you are doing, secondly for the way I see things for myself hardwork pays except that you're not serious in anything you do

But to me everything wey dey or go bring money requires hardwork...to creat contents oh.. office work,,, whatever it may be if you no dey consistent e no go pay..even to invest in bitcoins na still hardword  cause the more you invest the more money...

As I be like dis now sef, I no dey really like work wey go make me dey comot for house early in d morning, bath, dress up, come follow road dey meet traffic and noise pollution everywhere wey I suppose dey rest or do some other things for house. Working from home na him be d best now, all d people wey dey mostly make am today na through internet and working from home.

I no really send government now because na stress. The only benefit wey you fit get there na pension after you retire, all d rest na so so sufferness and dem no go still pay you well. I no still mind getting one but I go prefer to dey work from home and invest some money on some physical business if e go dey profitable for me.

But this no mean say hard work no dey pay, hard work still pays. Their is no success without hard,  founders of some of this social media's they payed good price before they were able to achieve what they have today. Even the bitcoin we are enjoying today is not just by sitting down to create it but the founder spent time on good research,  it might that it took him some years before he was able to achieve this. Hard still pays , no one has ever been on his own just achieve something great without working hard to get something great.

For me, I think hardwork still pays, because no one can really do it better than someone who puts in the work to earn, paybills, raise a family and even look out for siblings and others with as much as financial assistance when called upon or at ones discretion.

To gain the experience and do the work according to what one has learnt is what's essential and it often requires hardwork and practice which leads to working smarter and more efficiency in the long run, making it look seemlessly easy.

  Omor everything don modernize o, life don dey easy for man, no more manual labor for some kain jobs because machines don fall in place. The World we live today don really advance where gone are the days in relying on muscles to make money.
Technology has really brought the enhancement prioritically to ease stresses to man kind but many individual still seems adamant and awkwardly comfortable leaning to earn with the aids of muscular being (hard work). Though every must not chorusly wings to the state of smart jobs because not all technical amenities is ranged enough to play all the assorted hard job and so the world still need the hard workers.

The comparing of hard works and smart works are like comparing between skills and education.
Education could offer you flexible jobs while skills are offered you man-power jobs.
Job values is basically based on "strategies" such as critical creative field to allegiance attractions to creating more opportunities that is to bring increments and not of "smart or hard working". OP, you said it all, life in Nigeria is something else, just imagine in Nigeria our elected officer earns more than the teachers, but the truth is when you don't have the right connection there is nothing for you in this country no matter what you think that you are doing and how you are doing it,.unless you are a scammers even though you are a scammer, scammers also have cartel and if you are not among them, you will continue struggling, on the general note, as a citizen of this country that has potentials you need to have friends that think outside the box, you never can tell they can be helpful to your growth financially, the friends you keep tells much about your financial fortunes, chose your friends, I didn't say that you have to make friends because of what you will benefit from them if you must make it here it won't be by hard-work but by trying as much as possible to be with the right minds for you to be carried along.

Na back in the days during the era of our parents and grand parents, na him people dey place regard on hardwork, and dey see am as a yardstick for success but right things don change. Well, to be sincere, if you ask me, I will say that hard work stopped being major catalyst or drive to financial success a long time ago, it didn't start now, so if you are just realizing this, then you realized it late.

For a very long time now, working smart, together with working hard, has been a major driver of financial success, i include working hard here because to me, smart work alone will not make a person financially successful, but working smart and being committed to it, which also equate to working hard, for hard work is not all about hard labor, one can be working smart and hard as well.

When it comes to smart work, I believe this must have been mentioned alot of times, but I will also mention it again that investing, learning skills that are mostly related to working online and internationally, is one of the ways of working smart.

This your statement is true OP and I have noticed something in this our country, hard workers are those that work merely for daily survival and the rich don’t have to work that hard to earn so much, they work smart but still i will say hard work pays off also.

Finding smart ways is better but the problem some of us face is getting the right connection to these smart ways, nowadays everyone seem to be hiding their hustles and way of earning and just as it is said on the streets nobody wan share update with others again so people wey no gree get the right connect must look for another alternative to survive leaving them with no option than to go hard. Hard work joined together with our poor environment has been a serious challenge to our health but since there is jo other way and their is no job opportunity in the country we just have to take the risk. Hard work doesn’t guarantee success and riches but at least it earns some of us a living.

Good point, a social person wey sabi make friends have higher percentage of meeting people with smarter ways of earning money without much stress but the disadvantage of having plenty friends is the exposure to bad things and bad ways to earn money. When we are desperate, friends can easily influence us to make the wrong decisions and also influencing them into illegal ways of making money. I know quite a number of friends that have been influenced into yahoo yahoo and it’s also a smart way of earning as well.

This is very right not only in our country but globally.
Technology made things easy for us and result to making smart works more valuable than hard work that is why tech guys are earning money while staying at their comfort zone while people doing hard work will have to go out, expose themselves to sun just to put food in their table, and the smart people doing paper work or doing designs and coding get paid more than them.

Now we are having AIs that will soon take over all the hard works people are doing to get paid; and all these A Is are created by smart people not hard workers.

Although hard working can also be people working towards achieving their goals with smartness, and people using their physical strength to hustle for money.

You have listed them all, unless the person has skills that include computer programming, coding, and cyber security experience. These listed smart ways of making money are enough for serious and dedicated Nigerian youths to make them independent as well as free from inflation and devaluation of our currency since most of the works you mentioned were paid in foreign currencies.

@Jamestown70 na correct point wey you drop for here, because I no see reason why dem go say some persons dey work hard while some dey work smart, those wey dem say dey work hard if dem give dem the opportunity to take work smart e fit still hard dem, because brain work nor easy at all. Op to me oo I go prefer make them use the word, smart hard worker and ordinary hard worker, every smart worker na hard worker except you go dey specific before you fit use the word the wey you use am so, before dem go call person say em smart, no be only idea wey the person get but em go fit put the idea to play, like for example all those Igbo men wey dey do business one way or the other, na wattin we go come call them ? A good referral can do a great good for you than a long time of working hard. If your network is strong, you have a better chance of succeeding in the modern world. If you have these two sets of people mentioned here, work on maintaining good relationships with them and also do your own part. Make I assume say when you de refer to working smart, you de refer to doing online jobs or self employed job while working hard in this your context de refer to those when de do physical jobs like the normal salary earners or those people when he exert serious energy for the works them de do.

The reality be say the world don evolve and the way we take de do things don also change and like some people put am here, no be who work pass de earn pass.

This de remind me of when we been de school and that time we been start new, we go de enter night class almost every night de stay awake till morning before going back to the house and by 8 in the morning we go enter morning class back. For our mind we de work very hard and we go de see people when no de come night class as lazy ones while in the real sense, those people don understand the school system and de fit go read from 5pm and before 9, them don go back there hostel go sleep comfortably and de fresh to prepare for the next day lecture and when result de even finally come out, most of their result de make sense pass our own.

For me, I feel say the concept of working smart rather than working hard is that while doing anything in general, you need to look at the best and most easy way you can do it in a modern way that will fetch you the same or even more than the cash you would have gotten by working your ass all out.
