Now both major US candidates accept Bitcoin for donations. Great progress for Bitcoin acceptance.

Nope, I would say it's not about market acceptance, it's about the utility, I know such things make a great impact in the long term. US elections are really heating things up, and if a Bitcoin-pro government came into power it would truly help in the legalization of Bitcoin and the acceptability would get boosted to another level, we cant even imagine hehe, I'm feeling little excited about how the market will behave?

Still a welcoming news for us Bitcoin enthusiast. And obviously, the real winner is Bitcoin itself, I mean now we have both Trump and Harris are accepting BTC. So it's just a matter of how the US voters will go here.

And I think Kamala knows that there is nothing wrong with accepting Bitcoin as campaign donation, so it's a total reset on her campaign and who knows, it could also tilt voters for her. So it make sense after all.

The winner will be the one who gets the most donations and becomes president, not bitcoin. We have no guarantee that after either of them is elected they will still maintain a positive stance on bitcoin, what they are doing may just be aimed at gaining more votes and donations.

Many people were still skeptical and did not fully believe when Trump announced his support for bitcoin at the beginning of his campaign. Do you think people will quickly switch their support to Harris just because she announced she would accept bitcoin donations? I don't think bitcoin investors are that naive and gullible.

She needs to prove a lot more if she really wants crypto investors to vote for her, accepting bitcoin donations and through PAC, doesn't mean she has changed her views on bitcoin and crypto.

If you have no interest in someone, why would she ever request a donation in cryptocurrency. Just hoping for the real debate between her opponent to commence as quick as possible so we have get enlightened more on why there should be a donation in Bitcoin.

My country's local media wrote that Kemala was supported by crypto users in a US$100,000 donation collection event. But I don't know at this time whether it has been collected according to the target or not. In addition, there is even a group called Crypto4Harris, which supports Kemala. Reportedly, Crypto4Harris is a member of Dallas Mavericks owner and billionaire Mark Cuban as well as former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci. Both candidates are trying to take advantage of crypto supporters to get votes. The big hope is of course a more crypto-friendly policy.

The title of this read is not accurate. You made it look like it was the Democratic Party or Harris/Walz campaign organisation that is accepting Bitcoin. Meanwhile, it was just a political action committee (PAC) supporting the Democrats. I checked the website of Kamala Harris for President and it is clear that they don't accept any crypto donations. All the donation options are in fiat. If she has a positive view about cryptocurrencies, she should have allowed donations in crypto on her campaign website.

https://kamalaharris.com/
Trump has openly declared his policies on cryptocurrencies if elected. Harris has said nothing about the industry, it seems she is avoiding publicly declaring her stance on the crypto space. This could be an indication that she has no soft spot for cryptocurrencies.

I am not surprised about this because the donation is needed to strengthen her political ambition funding every aspects of her winning the election even though it involves rigging. Why would anyone even want to make donation in Bitcoin for her political campaign when she not supported the idea of Bitcoin adoption. I think they are really turning the table to make it looks as if she  has come to embrace cryptocurrency. Let's see how this goes because we are going to be in a look out on how this goes in due time.

This topic should not be on the Bitcoin discussion board. It should be on the politics board because this is purely a political topic.

I don't see this as anything for bitcoin. Neither candidate has any power over Bitcoin so accepting Bitcoin as donations. They both need money for their campaigns so I doubt they will say "No don't send me any donations if it's in Bitcoin or crypto". They will accept donations in any form as long as it won't cause problems for their campaign.
Both of them have been against Bitcoin and crypto in the past but now they're accepting it because it suits them. I remember vividly how both of them condemned bitcoin.

I’m sure they’ll gladly accept Bitcoin (then convert it into $). Kamala has been part of an administration that has been hostile towards Bitcoin so I do not trust her or a single member of her supposed team. Vote Trump, it’s the only way to Make America Great Again.

I wouldn't trust Harris campaign too much when they use Bitcoin as a tool to gain votes since she has clearly condemned bitcoin transactions in the US. Plus she and Biden have been the most vocal pioneers in eradicating crypto policies so now is the time for the crypto community in the US to be a little more careful of the maneuvers that politicians are doing just to manipulate the sentiments for their own interests.

Some media and people misunderstood earlier news, where CoinBase decided to make clarification as reported by CoinDesk.

Kamala Harris Is Not Directly Accepting Crypto Donations, a PAC Is, Coinbase Says

A spokesperson for Coinbase said the Future Forward PAC, which is dedicated to supporting Kamala Harris, is accepting crypto donations, rather than her campaign directly.

--snip--

It's unfortunate that not many are willing to read carefully and if not fully understood, ask questions or research. Humans are so lazy that they eat whatever information that is fed them, even when few minutes of their time could clear the doubt. Since Op missed it, 90% of the posts in this thread are toelling the lane of OP.

Even if Harris campaign directly accepts bitcoin at this critical time, I'll also not take the gesture seriously. Those are election induced decisions which lasts as long as the election itself.

If someone now comes up with something new, gaining weight and fame, the company of Harris will begin to approve of everything that is accepted by society. The goal is to get numerous votes. Smart people have long since figured this out, and those who believe that Harris can run such a powerful country will learn some hard lessons and perhaps realize that it will never happen... Harris has already told enough lies, starting with her work experience and ending with her commitment to a certain race.

Some media and people misunderstood earlier news, where CoinBase decided to make clarification as reported by CoinDesk.

The linked article cires that a Political Action Committee (PAC) called "Future Forward" which supports the Democratic Party and presidential nominee Kalama Harris, are the ones who are accepting cryptocurrency donations. This should not be confused as the party or campaign itself is accepting cryptocurrency donations. A PAC is essentially a tax exempt organisation which can support political parties. The PAC's choice to accept cryptocurrency does not represent the Democratic parties beliefs or support for cryptocurrency.

It's good to see someone read the news carefully. And OP's title isn't accurate, it shows that some cryptocurrency user/company doesn't support or trust Trump.

They copy what Trump do?

Now this politicians became crypto friendly to? But what happen next after they win? Continue this past action and punish those people who use cryptocurrency. One of pathetic actions made by politicians when they asked for votes. They became hypocrite and became friendly on everything and after they get what they want from people then they easily dump them and continue their personal agenda towards the policies what they are pushing.

Harris camp just see the publicity gotten by Trump when he include Cryptocurrency and want to ride with this situation then hope to get massive attention.

Power struggle, nothing else.

If anyone failed to show that they hate Bitcoin and crypto, it is Kamala and the group of powerful people behind her, alas my crypto people, shouldn't we abandon these people at their games? They knew the power behind Bitcoin and it's community, they are just trying to tap from it is all.

Too obvious.

Now Keeping the presidential candidates aside, getting support on bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies from the two big parties can be a significant booster for overall crypto adoption. It may lead to more comprehensive and stable regulatory frameworks and have greater confidence among investors, businesses and developers in the crypto space.

It's too early to say both parties are interested in cryptocurrencies. Are they really interested in crypto or are they just lying to gain more support for themselves? We still don't know what their true intentions are so we need to wait until the election is over and see what happens next.

One big difference is that Trump was the one who expressed support for cryptocurrencies from the very beginning of his campaign. Meanwhile, Democratic representatives like Biden and Harris have always shown no interest in cryptocurrencies, but why are they suddenly accepting donations in bitcoin? Is it because they see that they are losing some voters? Or is their purpose to raise funds for the campaign as some have said, and they accept bitcoin even though they have no interest in it?

The fact that they suddenly accept bitcoin donations for the campaign or announce bitcoin support makes me more skeptical than supportive.

Is she doing this because she needs more donations to help her campaign funding or is she only doing this because she saw how Trump is pro bitcoin and it helped his campaign and she wants to gain that market share?

Like Cameron and Tyler said a couple of weeks back, if she wants to be pro Bitcoin and pro Crypto she doesnt need to wait until she wins the election. She can take a stand now and fire Gary Gensler who is bad for the crypto industry. However its been a couple of weeks and not action really taken.

Which shows she is just doing this to buy votes and nothing more.
That's the most sensible reason I can think of; she just wants a share of the publicity Trump received due to his statement regarding cryptocurrencies. With that being said, why is this considered good news? I'm not saying it's bad news, but indifferent ones. Does it make much difference that her promotional campaign now accepts Bitcoin donations? That's just another means of receiving money and votes, and why would anyone in the right mind donate their Bitcoin to her campaign? This isn't going to make any difference to cryptocurrencies or to the market.

Trump campaign is using Opennode which accepts Bitcoin donations among other crypto.

Kamala Harris' campaign is using Coinbase Commerce which last time I checked does not even support Bitcoin anymore. So don't be misleading. I literally had to buy a bunch of MATIC in order to renew my domains because my domain registrar also uses Coinbase Commerce (I will never be caught up in ETH gas fees again). It's just Ethereum, Polygon, and their own shitcoin called BASE. Just three networks. Extremely frustrating.

Not that I'm going to donate to either campaign anyway, but it's something worth pointing out.

It's worth pointing out that this news seems to have made some people really angry, and some people somewhat more satisfied, and still others don't think it matters one way or another.

It's obviously good news for our business (you can debate the degree of course), so I suspect the ones here who are happy or neutral want our business to thrive, and/or for Bitcoin and other cryptos to go up in value.

The ones here who are hysterically negative are... not motivated by business considerations Smiley.

I really can't picture how a person that plans on increasing capital gain tax as well unrealised gain tax going to help investments.

Her proposal only affects people making more than $400k/year, and unrealized gains for people with over $100 million per year, which makes it essentially a tax only for... billionaires. Oddly, the media, which is controlled by billionaires, isn't covering that fact very consistently, and ordinary investors are being lied to when they are made to feel like they would actually be effected by these proposals, should they every make it into law (which is doubtful since Harris will probably not have a majority in Congress when she wins).

Why Bitcoin didn't pump?
Because bitcoin is not a pump and dump shitcoin that gets pumped with every slightly positive looking news and get dumped with every slightly negative looking news.
Not to mention that the world does not care that a presidential candidate on the other side of it is begging for donations (like the other candidate who did it before her) to start panic buying bitcoin. Grin

The moron will accept anything to win this Election. From policies to accents, she can change everything and says these changes reflect her true values and can contribute great things for her country. She is very faked from ideas to her words and gestures.

I hope we all know the phrase that "Everything is fair in Love and War" Kamala Harris to launch a bitcoin campaign is only get the support from the voters who are liking Trump on the basis that he is pro-crypto. Attempts like this will have no effect on Trump voters as everyone can see who is changing stances only gain attention and who is crypto guy right from the beginning.

Now Keeping the presidential candidates aside, getting support on bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies from the two big parties can be a significant booster for overall crypto adoption.
