That’s just purely addiction, because if you are not addicted to gambling, how are you going to keep on gambling till the stage that you won’t be able to pay for the bets that you have placed? He known full well that there is no money in his pocket again and went ahead and placed a bet. Lolz. The guy was playing a smart game, thinking that the cashier would allow him to go and come back again to pay back the loan and if the game entered and he would tell the cashier to collect the money from the winning and if the game cut then he would run away. And wanted to dropped his smartphone with the cashier means he is a pure gambling addict.
If the amount was $15+, dropping the mobile phone was not bad as well because definitely the gambling amount was not up to the amount of the phone and if he didn't come back and pay the debt then the phone would be sold and use the money to settle the debt. It was a simple analogy since the casino was physical one and not online.

To be fair, this is a very nice feature but it cannot completely stop our gambling addiction if we cannot control ourselves. Not only in gambling but in any field, if we cannot control ourselves, no one can help us. But I support this idea because at least the casino is trying to come up with a solution to help players become aware of their out of control gambling behavior. If all casinos had this feature and required players to enable it, I believe it would help curb uncontrolled gambling.

But as you said, to be able to completely eliminate gambling addiction, the only way is to practice controlling our emotions, do not expect help from others when we do not try ourselves.

The question is, will casino sites care about their users? Yes, most likely it is greed driven by desperation, the inability to accept the risk of losing can also be the biggest trigger for a gambler to make various impulsive decisions such as pawning an item they own, and feeling too confident can also lead to decisions like that.

You would see that most people would answer that they have accounts in more than 5 casinos, and all accounts are KYC. I think, it's just a silly act, because he bet but didn't have the money to pay for it. Or maybe, he thought that by making a bet first it would give him an advantage so he could continue gambling with that advantage. But unfortunately, in gambling it is clear that gamblers will pay first to play the game but with that incident, then I think it's clear that it's just someone who is silly or just messing around but the impact is bad because the bookie also reported it to the security officers or the police. Usually, fewer amount of players have dealt mentally with extended series of losses, others only fall for it and suffer on the long run. For the most part of the problem, gamblers deserve having mentors and colleagues that walk along with them to the casino. Such that when dispute as tough as this occurs, they'll not be left out in the midst of strangers, and nobody who they actually know to stand for them.

On the moment that you do find yourself being already that addicted to gambling then you would really be having that kind of actions when it comes into your gambling session on which it would really be that too damn hard to control when it comes into this matter. Greed is what makes you do be able to play even further and on the time or moment that you do find yourself on such condition
then it would really be that too hard for you to stop midway. People would really be that trying out to stop on the time or moment that you would really be that suffering on such bad condition or situation.
If you are really that playing gambling then you should really be that mindful when it comes into your actions because on the time that you do get greedy then it does signifies that you are already addicted into it.

Gambling with credit is incredibly risky and I would personally not do it.

In this case it seems that somebody placed his bets for him, that's basically credit. No way I would have done that.

I think many places ban credit card usage for casinos and gambling in general because they know they won't be getting that money back, ever.

In the past, different class people can be happy with their own ways, now people are only happy when they live with luxury lifestyle like the rich. That's why many people now sell their soul, either become a porn star, have only fans, selling illegal thing, or trying to find instant way to make money.

You shouldn't let your son to play your smart phone, instead buy the new cheap one and set it for kids mode.
