Maybe since they apparently tested the BJ with two chips, that means they'll ship with two chips.  Tongue

They haven't tested chips. They said themselves they don't get substrate till Monday. My guess is PCB are finalized/ordered after they get substrates. Chip testing probably a week out (2+ more likely). Delivery to the first customer in Jan is my guess. Dec delivery looks kind of unlikely given we have 2 holidays upcoming.

It seems to me that someone wants to snach BFL's title of skill in conning their customers. First we had box of fans, now we have box of fans+mock pcb. Wtf is going on? If this is the case now i'm anxious to see what the next con will invent!

I'm mildly more optimistic now and hope Hashfast keeps posting updates.  Regularly.  On-topic.   Maybe since they apparently tested the BJ with two chips, that means they'll ship with two chips.  Tongue

But to answer your question, RoadStress, if it's really all bullshit, I've done a mockup of Hashfast's next image update:
Wow, that thing looks like it barely has any nm's. How many jiggahashes does is hold?

So it's just a small PCB then huh?

What's the great difficulty in making them then that's taking so long, ostensibly?

And why are they even necessary?  BFL's FCBGA chips and Avalon's QFNs get soldered right onto the mainboard.  Why do they need another PCB?
BFL's chips do have a substrate.

The QFN package is a little different, the die sits on a metal pad and has little wires that go from the die to the pins at the edge of the QFN. In both cases though, the die doesn't get soldered right to the board and has to go through some kind of interface. Very few ICs are sold are bare dies.

I haven't followed the whole discussion...maybe someone can clue me in: Just what is "substrate" in this context, and what purpose does it serve?

It's the green part of the pic below, the pc board on which the actual silicon is mounted.

They are just liars, and we bought only because of those lies. But no, don't worry, we have nothing to go against them in court, let's stay calm on our seats and let them enjoy our money.

I suggested in an earlier post, that HF had someone, maybe a friend of a member of the board of directors, which could provide it cheaper than TSMC, what finally caused a delay of several weeks, which reflected in wreaking havoc on the eventual positive ROI of their 1st batch customers.
No way.

If you where right, they would have had the PCB and everything else ready 40 days ago. That's not the case.

and which missing is the stumbling block in this story at the moment.

Beyond the fans themselves, there's nothing using power and thus nothing is producing heat. So the thermal simulation showed, that they can economize on the other 5 fans, in fact on even all the fans.
And thus, again, save a little bit money (like with the substrate).

But then some management guy stated, that the machine wouldn't look techie enough without any fans, and so they put back 3.

interesting the speed of the airflow.  and that's even w/o the 2 exhaust fans at the back they had in their mockups.

looks good to me.

its got 3 fans installed and missing the other 5, if we go by the renders on their site which had 6 fans on the radiators (one each side per rad) and 2 fans on the rear.. so yeah, maybe they didn't need so many fans after all (and can save cost leaving some of them off.. e.g. the other 3 radiator fans)

on the other hand, right now.. theres no heat being generated.. so maybe the airflow needs to be much faster to take the heat off the rads.  presumably they've done thermal simulations of the airflow and hot chips including the warmed up air blown onto them from the rads etc.. and have decided its well within spec

Out there are people on ebay, which pay atm 15000 usd for an knc miner.
So many people want these machines.

They will pay double or treble also in dec jan feb aso.

And we have no other things in our burned brains then to kill the ponies,
Eduardo and the hole hf company.

Can anyone make an thread for this kind of people.
Shure, I also feel better when i hear something sometimes.

All will be nice

no more ponies! Vote for the 31. dec.

we have learned on day to install an printer driver.

p.s. I got 0.5 btc paid for this post.

So it would make then for hf to sell those on ebay and then refund from the profit the actual customers who waited months for their miners.
And legally it's all gonna be alright!

now we have some "good" news and the thread is flooded.
I personally started to go mad when they first announced that they where delayed, with no proof of anything. I was like the only one.

Now at least we know that they are "as good as" BFL (they will try to ship something to some customers at some time).

Again, they won't miss the last of the year delivery deadline, but that hardware will be useless. I would rather have a refund than that hardware at the end of the year and the MPP in April, that is what will 90% happen.

It's all in the MPP, guys. I told you. (two months from now you will see the importance of this line)

So, they are now changing their Tos all the time to cover their back and we can all see that from day one they did not expect to deliver between 20-30 October.  They just forget it to mention on their web page to the customers...
And that's clearly something illegal. And HF is happy because they know from BFL that no-one will go against the in court.

If i give you the money, would you do that? Just tell me if so.
Why no-one wants to do that?
What's this utter nonsense?

You think that complaining on a stupid forum will be enough to have our rights respected with those companies?
you're right , ... that's really make sense..

What they told me about the refunds when I asked for one:

Unfortunately, we are not currently refunding orders.  As we promised our Batch 1 Baby Jet customers, we will refund their order if we do not deliver the order by December 31, 2013.

Our Terms of Sale include the following:

·         Except for the delivery dates described explicitly guaranteed using the words “guaranteed delivery” in the order confirmation sent by Hashfast, delivery dates communicated or acknowledged by Hashfast are approximate only

·         No order or any part thereof may be rescheduled or cancelled without Hashfast’ prior written consent, other than orders that remain undelivered after the “guaranteed delivery” date

We included this language to emphasize the point that we are a new company, designing a highly complex technology, and manufacturing it for the first time, and therefore estimated dates were just that.

That said, we understand that there are many people interested in purchasing units from Batch 1 from other customers.  You may want to look for a buyer in the Bitcoin forums.  If you would like us to refer buyers to you, please let us know.

Very truly yours,

Customer Support

I wonder how refunds in BTC will be given.
They might want to refund if they pay in usd value rather than shipping.

Confidence is begging to shatter , even if we are finally starting to have some kind of proofs they could actually ship.
I find this kind of amusing , while there were no news from HF there were very few complaining , now we have some "good" news and the thread is flooded.

But still seems that they are going to ship the sierras at the same time as the BJs which is a nice deal to sierras owners and no so good for first batch BJs.

So basically batch 1 users get screwed

^THIS^

In your example, we would give you enough ASICs to double the amount of additional hashing capacity that you would have needed - not just enough to break even.

Color me skeptical but given their progress so far I just don't see this happening.    Roll Eyes

Now, how about that refund HF?
I don't want to wait until Dec 31st as that date wasn't mentioned in the first day TOS.

Now since the only payment option is in BTC Will I get the same ammount of BTC back should you fail to deliver by December 31st?

Orders are taken in BTC, in the unlikely event we get to refunds they will be given in BTC.
