Finally next gen miners. With the halving there is nothing very safe here, but interesting times ahead.

The miners get obselete faster and RoI is now a bit gamble especially with the halving

Is there an official information when S9 will be released? Or at least when can be expected?

In Cointelegraph they wrote that when stabilize the situation, but this can take months or even years!  Grin
Was Bitcoin situation ever stable?  Grin Grin

Jessica,

Hopefully BTC will climb to $750 before halving - so even S7 can be profitable for a while

We ll probably see around $600. $750 s a bit too much.

A + $600 price seems reasonable. I am more interested though in how the difficulty will level out, once the halving has passed. With both the upcoming S9's and the next gen 14nm chips from BW.com, this should be pretty interesting to watch how it develops.

The difficulty will not level out. The antminer S9 will come out in the next few weeks, it is much more powerful.

You think so?

I believe it's way more complicated. For instance, a pretty good deal of all the current hashes on the network is still coming from far less efficient machines than for example the S7's. If the value of the BTC doesn't rise enough after the halving, there's no way to say how many of those miners will be shut down due to becoming non-profitable, which could effectuate a good dropping in the difficulty.
If the S9's are anywhere near those pre-specs of 14 Th/s, it's quite likely it will be a pricey machine, especially in the beginning. If then, then there's no way to be sure that 'hole' would be filled with them S9 power. At least not in the beginning, but that's what I believe.

It's 2100 USD for 14TH and .1J/GH. Wonder how many they are already running on their farm just for them...

Works out to be 150 usd per 1th/s.

1 th/s yields ~ 0.002 btc every 24 hours.

150 usd is about 0.29 btc

So it takes 145 days to hit ROI per 1 th/s and we are assuming difficulty level remains constant.

Offering these for sale 50 days before halving might not be the best business strategy.

Or perhaps it just is, playing in on the insecurities surrounding what will happen due to the upcoming halving.

The price seems reasonable. At least it's cheaper than the very first S7 back then  Cheesy

Not so spectacular?

If the pre-specs of 14 TH/s are anywhere close, than the S9 for sure is a game changer. Not to mention the SP50 from Spondoolies with a 110 Th/s (!), or the next 14 nm chip from BW.com...

I am just a little concern that bag holders are waiting for a magic number before thet dump a significant number of coins to cause a panic selling and prices go down..

....then we can buy more? Lol

S9 hash power is the next big thing everyone here is waiting for. Bitmain still keeping us in suspense. Cock teaser. Haha

I m more interested in the next Pacmic. The next cloud miner, having in mind this diff growth is not so spectacular per se but I always welcome innovations.
